As far as I can tell, nearly every deck gets something out of Gatecrash, so my general advice as of late has been wait for GTC to drop and pick up what you like. Crypt Ghast has been suggested and I do like the idea. Something like Mono Black ramp into big fatties like Griselbrand? Splash red with shocks for Devil's Play/Bonfire?
Also, although it seems strange, Pack Rat, Ravenous Rats and Drainpipe Vermin give a very weird, though also very nice budget creature shell for a MBC deck.
I have been paying MBC for a few weeks now and doing pretty well. I'm not toally budget, but here is some tips if your interested:
Play Bloodline Keeper. He's the best finisher, and he's a real beating.
Play 4 Liliana's.
Play Pithing Needle in the sideboard. Hoses Utility Lands, Planeswalkers, which are important permanents to "turn off".
Play Duress in the sideboard. I know Appetite for Brains exists, but I can mostly care less about creatures with all the removal at hand. What I care about is nabbing Sphinx's Revs in particular.
Mainboard a couple Staff of Nin. This card is really good, and extra draw power helps alot.
If only black had a Drain Life / Corrupt / Consume Spirit spell in standard right now. As it stands, there isn't all that much incentive to be able to produce huge amounts of black mana.
What people have been saying about Crypt Ghast and Liliana of the Dark Realms is right. As a matter of fact, I like Liliana of the Dark Realms so much that I also added in 2 Liliana's Shade. It makes a heck of a wincon with Liliana's ultimate, thins your library, and can nab the shockland that you need to cast the Tusk next turn. Plus, swinging in with a shade is always so gratifying because you can take out a blocker if you need/want to, and if they decide not to block, get in as much damage as you want to get in, and cast something your second main phase. The deck is positioned pretty well. Don't forget Sever the Bloodline.

It isn't just the X spell that's important, but also the gain life aspect of the spells I mentioned to help you stabilize after you've spent the first few turns setting up your uber-swamps. And this is coming from someone who loves to play mono-black, and did so pretty successfully until M12/Scars rotated out and I lost 80% of my deck.
