I don't see how any list not running ultimate price beats anything. That and NDrownyard are the only reasons I even use black. I tried Sorin/Souls but after a few weeks I just started to hate it, as it never did enough for the amount of mana invested. That, and I typically win by milling via NDYard and JMAdept anyway. I tend to favor the lower curved, less sweepers, more instant speed than heavy top end sweeper etc. UWR Midrange taught me many painful lessons, and thats one reason I changed since that matcup is so hard. Most games I win are through outdrawing the opponent, and definitley more instant speed cheap solutions over "bombs". Milling may be boring, but it is not susceptible to most removal (except GQuarter and or PNeedle) and Elixir of Immortality which are far less seen and easier to answer than having them play THellkite and smash you etc. I know theyre are other matches, but I like to keep things cheap, and I never found adding more high end spells and 6-8 sweepers to help as much as I originally thought.
I took them out of my deck last week to make room for Think Twice. A turn 2 Ultimate Price always felt like a waste, when I was planning on casting a wrath eventually. I thought there were much better ways to spend the mana early on. I prefer just running 4 Azorius Charms, which can cycle in other scenarios, and using 4 Augurs, which is something most people no longer run anymore. After sideboarding, Feeling of Dread is basically Ultimate Price with Flashback, since I board into as many as 8 sweepers in some matchups.
The only place where I wish I still had them is against Tempo, as you mentioned, and that's solely because of Restoration Angel. Only having Lingering Souls and Supreme Verdict to kill their creatures is risky, but I don't suppose 2 Ultimate Price makes the difference, and Flash decks can't actually kill you in a reasonable timeframe before you start casting Revelations. I'll have to see how that matchup plays out if I can get paired against more of them. Previously, the Lingering Souls alone was enough to shut the deck down and I haven't actually lost to the deck; though I haven't played it since I dropped the 2 Ultimate Prices.
EDIT: I only run 4 Supreme Verdicts main. The Augurs seem to do a good enough job of holding of swarms and/or drawing me into Supreme Verdicts.
Guys, Im fairly new to the deck and just have a few questions.
Cipher, with only 4 verdicts, have you played GB Aggro? i'm just wondering if the charms and Verdicts are enough in the end for game 1? Any response is fine.
When is the optimum time to drownyard? At the end of their turn? In response to a Revelation is fine? I've done it after charms of course and sometimes I like to mill right before their draw step late game but was just wondering if there was a 'best time'.
Because having cheap instant speed answers are good. Ultimate Price is good for Eot kill Thalia and Hellkite beats, and they are relevant, as well Hellriders. Azorius Charms, UPrice, a single CRift and a single FoDread are my instant speed answers alongside SVerdicts, a single Terminus, and 2 DSpheres. A boatload of sweepers never helped much, especially against UWR Midrange, asn their GosTs/Hellkites/Restos can care less about high casting cost sweepers anyway. I still board in a single Terminus/FoDread against hardcore aggro, and 2 Tributes to Hunger versus UWR's GosT. I never found leaning on Sorin/Lsouls/boatloads of sweepers efficient. The only planeswalker that helped was Tamiyo, but at 6 mana I play one. JAoT at least draws cards. Lowering the curve a bit and having more instant speed cards has been way more profitable than heavy lumbering sweeper plans or equally deadbeat cards like Sorin.

For the most part, you want to use instant-speed abilities on your opponent's end step, but there's all sorts of exceptions.
As for the GB Aggro, I haven't seen that played on paper even once. But yeah, I imagine I'll be pretty angry about losing to it game one. The deck seems pretty awful, though, so Azorius Charm and Lingering Souls may just get me to revelation mana, at which point it shouldn't matter too much what they've got going on. After sideboarding 4x Terminus makes the deck crumble, Kibler himself said so in his SCG video.
Basically, they have a 3 mana creature that doesn't go anywhere when you wrath game one. The rest of the deck is significantly slower and worse than other aggro decks since, like all of Kibler's decks, it was designed to win out in creature mirrors. I seriously wonder what would have to go wrong for me to lose a game after boarding in 4 Feeling of Dread and 4 Terminus? I suppose he ran Ranger's Guile, right?
Before their draw step is a bad time, unless they have 3 cards left. It shows you don't have another use for that mana. You could hit a bomb, hit 3 lands and then they top a bomb or something.
If you're talking about using Drownyard this way I did it on my opponent's upkeep when playing against B/r Zombies and smashed him 2-0.

Sorry for the delay, as I was in Cloumbus. I didn't do too hot, but my buddy piloting a very similar list placed 10th. I had some bad luck round 1 and 2 and lost those matches to topdecks in G3, which put me in an odd bracket so I had to struggle to get my 6-4 at the end of the open. My list:
It obviously didn't play out exactly how I wanted, and I may need more countermagic to shore up the jund matchup actually. I lost a good 4 games to jund where all they landed on me were huge bonfires and returns I simply couldn't do anything about :/. I also really wanted a second slip in the main and screwed that up as well.
Activating the Drownyard right before your opponent draws each turn, as if you mill is going to "hit their good cards" is pretty funny. That's even worse than when people choose to mulligan, look at the top 3, and then start mumbling about how they punted.
Thanks for the responses. That's what i had thought but its good to get confirmation.
Cipher, the deck looks like it could handle GB aggro easily but I hadn't played it since I was playing a Angel Rites list a month ago in FNM. Thanks for your response!
What do you guys think of having Lone Revenant as a 1-of in a creature-less Esper deck that also doesn't run Sorin or Lingering Souls? I run 3 Jace AoT, 2 Tamiyo, 1 Jace Memory Adept in MB and was thinking of swapping an AoT with the revenant.
Drownyard prior to their draw is mostly good if you used Azorius Charm to put something really problematic on the top of their deck, just like using Thought Scour after Charm. This is the main reason I have used Drownyard prior to their end-phase.

Went to SCG Columbus and ended up dropping after going 3-3. Here's a mini tournament report since I didn't actually write anything down.
Round 1 vs. G/W Midrange:
I believe this is a very good matchup for us and if I hadn't drawn like **** both games my results would have confirmed that. Game one I drew half my deck and never saw a single board wipe and she had three Faith's Shield for my two Detention Sphere and Ultimate Price. She beat me down with a single Loxodon Smiter and a Sublime Archangel. Game two mulligan to six with a keep of Azorius Charm, Supreme Verdict, Think Twice, and three land. She got a fast start and I never saw my fourth land. Horrible start to the day but at least she was really nice if not the nicest person I played all day.
0-1
Round 2 vs. U/W/r Flash:
I don't remember much about this match except I crushed him both games and he complained about Nephalia Drownyard... a lot.
1-1
Round 3 vs. B/R Zombies:
This one was kind of a blur as well. Game one he curved out perfectly and crushed me. Games two and three I landed a turn five Curse of Death's Hold shutting him out of three Falkenrath Aristocrats game two. Feeling of Dread really shined here and I walked away with the match.
2-1
Round 4 vs. Kibler's G/B Aggro:
Another nice guy but I crushed him both games. Tamiyo and Terminus are just too much for this deck to handle.
This guy demoralized me. He crushed me both games without saying barely a word. I had no idea how to fight this deck and it showed.
3-2
Round 6 vs. 4 Color Frites:
After the previous round my spirits were shot and I misplayed game one miserably. Game two I came back and was able to seal the deal pretty handily with two Rest in Peace after he destroyed the first one. Game three was my first game all day to go to turns and he top decked Craterhoof to kill me for exact on turn three of time with three cards left in his library while I had an active Drownyard.
3-3 Drop
For my first big tournament I was happy with my results and this is what I learned.
- Lingering Souls and Sorin were not missed once all day. Cutting those two was the best choice I ever made.
- Curse of Death's Hold really only helps in the Zombies matchup and not sure if that warrants it a spot.
- I didn't get a single unintentional draw and only went to turns once. If you know your deck and don't slow play not going to time is a lot easier then people say it is.
That Brian Kelly deck looks like hot garbage, but I guess that's cause I can look at the 75 and know that he only has X, Y, and Z to actually kill me. Must have been nerve wracking playing against it.

I am playing this kind of deck. I wouldnt cut an AOT as he is just super sweet against a bunchload of decks.
I am debatting with my self if I wanna play Revenant or Entreat. Guess it depends on the meta. If u expect thing like Detention Sphere Entreat just isn´t that good. Revenant shines against Decks using a lot Spotremoval like Jund if u manage to play him around Liliana obv.
I've been using 1-of Entreat the Angels and its working extremely well. It's usually a win when I miracle it and if I hard cast it for 2 or more the game becomes highly in my favor. Even if they do use a D-Sphere on my angels that's one less removal for my Walkers to control and seal the game.
I just ate dirt against control decks with two lonely Dissipate main on Sunday so I am going with 4 now, and a lot of sideboard anti-control hate. Mainly, I had no way to deal with Super Friends builds. Now I do.
I also had long, drawn out games against mid-range and aggro without being able to decisively pull the trigger. I think I can do that now.
You will notice two particular oddities:
1 Sorin, but no Lingering Souls. I've decided I really like Sorin against aggro and making that emblem right away is great for my other creatures. 2/3 and possibly 3/3 Augur is pretty sick. I also want to work on using his -6 against control decks.
2 Angel of Serenity as my creature finishers. My feeling is, the ability to exile 3 of my opponent's creatures gives me another kind of wrath, plus if one died, I can always pick it as a target and start the Angel cycle. Angel also benefits from the Sorin emblem greatly, becoming a truly robust finisher.
I'm not entirely certain about the RiP's. I am genuinely tempted to run 2 Tormod's Crypt instead because of all of the enchantment hate, whereas Tormod's Crypt is a drop-and-pop 0 cmc answer. Of course, once you use it, it's gone...
I just feel like I will never lose to aggro after game 1 with my sideboard and Appetite has general utility against all of the mid-range and control decks.
And yes, I went Augur. 23 targets and Cipher's iron-clad logic has me back with it.

Naya midrange is going to be insane now, Boros Aggro and Boros aggro varients will be a thing now also. If we want to keep competing with Esper we need to hope we get tools just as good as they got in dimir and Orzhov. We will need to sit back look at all the cards and re-evaluate the deck from the ground up. Either way we shouldn't be discussing things to come for GTC since this is standard discussion and GTC isn't out yet.

Yeah, just to note, though, Boros Charm is 4 damage to target player, which makes it a bit less likely that it's a 4 of.

Sever is there because some things you just want to exile. And then flashback and exile some more.
