My suggestion if your planning to build a blue creature deck (which I dont suggest as blue is pretty much better spells then creatures...) cheap flyers. Or merfolk. I know I'm not being specific but 'm thinking with decks I know that are fairly successful with blue creatures
Oh lol I'm sorry! Mono blue control, with tons of counterspells. The win condition is Sphinx of Jwar Isleand Conundrum Sphinx attacks. My problem is I don't have much fire power early turn.
what kind of blue creatures? guys for beating down? not much to choose from there. the list starts and ends with Coralhelm Commander. there's a somewhat better selection of guys with cool abilities. Merfolk Looter is often useful if you have a reason for wanting to discard cards.
Ive been thinking that a mono-blue aggro deck (non-merfolk, and yeah, and I'm not trolling...) might be possible. And seeing this list I think the best early drops would be as follows: Alluring Siren (it can essentially give a creatures unblockable, if used right), AEther Figment, Augry Owl, and Renegade Doppleganger.

so if i am that player do i get to sleep with his girlfriend ?
Halimar Wavewatch is a decent 2-drop: 0/3 blocks most early threats, 0/6 blocks bigger threats, and 6/6 Islandwalker can win you the game with Spreading Seas.

What? If you are playing control you don't want creatures early to go beatdown. SoJI should be good enough to win and having mediocre small creatures is only going to hurt your plan. Control isnt about 'fire power in early turns'.
Welkin Tern is my personal favorite flying two drop in standard right now. Such a creature would fit nicely into a blue aggro deck were such a thing possible.
2/1 evasive on turn two is rarely a bad thing in general though.

There's really not any better suggestions left to give, to be honest.
About Mindslaver rulings:
Forget 1-drops. Unless they give you mana (Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves) or can beat some serious face (Steppe Lynx, Goblin Guide), they are just too weak.
there's probably more
