Jace the Mindsculpter
Bloodbraid Elf
Lightning Bolt
Second Bracket
Baneslayer Angel
Gideon Jura
Maelstrom Pulse
Third Bracket
Nobel Hierarch
Elspeth Knight Errant
Oblivion Ring
Honorable mentions
spreading seas, wall of omens in this format particularly
cruel ultimatum, blightning, path to exile for being generally ridiculous
Goblin guide, wild nacatl for what they do to with percentages on turn 1 in their decks (standard rdw, extended zoo)
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Knight of the Reliquary
Bloodbraid Elf
Gideon Jura
Elspeth, Knight-Errant
Noble Hierarch
Lotus Cobra
Lightning Bolt
Baneslayer Angel
HM would have to go to pretty much anything in Jund (Putrid Leech, Bituminous Blast, Sprouting Thrinax, Maelstrom Pulse), Sovereigns of Lost Alara, Spreading Seas, Wall of Omens, and Oblivion Ring.
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Maelstrom Pulse
Baneslayer Angel
Vengevine
Bloodbraid Elf
Probably in that order. Jace is the best card in Standard. Maelstrom Pulse answers everything and more. Baneslayer wins games. Vengevine kills so much. Bloodbraid Elf is the strongest card in Standard as it can single-handedly win unwinable games by having the right cascade.
EDIT: I would argue against BBE on account of the fact she's not that great *in a vacuum*. Part of what makes her good is all the good stuff she can cascade into. She is a strong card, but she isn't "nuts" unless you put her in the right deck with all those powerful 3 CMC spells (Jund).
Naya? BBE is the primary reason Jund was able to dominate standard. a 3/2 haste with a free spell of your deck's design tacked on is huge. Until Jace and his decks dominate standard the way BBE did, I'd have to put BBE above him. In a vaccum of me never drawing another card, and you never drawing another card and me with BBE and you with Jace, I win. In a vacuum...
For top ten in standard today I'd say:
Jace, The mind Sculpter
Bloodbraid Elf
Blightning
Maelstrom Pulse
Knight of the Reliquary
Spreading Seas
Lightning Bolt
Day of Judgment
Eldrazi Conscription
Path to Exile
I think all of the above either power decks into tier 1 (KotR, Conscription, BBE) and/or force you to respect them and keep them in mind when playing/designing a deck(Spreading Seas, Bolt, DoJ), and others are just that powerful with a deck around them in type 2 (Blightning, Pulse, Conscription), and path is just instant removal in a color that hasn't had something this good since StP that is splashed or main in a LOT of type 2 decks right now.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
1. Bloodbraid Elf
2. Banelsayer Angel
3. Knight of the Reliquary
4. Jace the Mind Scupltor
5. Ranger of Eos
6. Wall of Omens
7. Day of Judgment
8. Spreading Seas
9. Blightning
Jace is obviously awesome but I can't put him or any of the other planeswalkers too high up because they need protection and there are a lot of times when just running a PW out there is not the right move. BBE is almost always awesome.
Pulse is my number 1. It is such a versatile answer to literally anything in this format. Jace and Gideon make up the best tag-team ever printed. BSA is still nuts. WoOs defends planewsalkers extremely well. BBE is still BBE, the Sovereigns/Conscription combo is the best one card combo in standard, and Vengevine does immaculately well vs. WoO and walkers. Elspeth is still very good with Gideon, and Blightning is great vs. the control decks that have walkers and need cards in hand.
What are your votes for the 9 best cards in standard at this moment? Stupid idea percolating.
No context (great against X! awesome in Y deck!,) just the straight up best cards in a vacuum. Clunky casting costs should be a factor though, this isn't an infinite resource exercise.
Votes so far indicate unanimous love for Jace and Gideon, but not so for BSA or BBE, which is surprising. Pulse and KotR hang out with the angel and elf, Blightning and Hierarch right behind. I get the impression that opinions are being heavily swayed by winning decklists and not raw power level (though the two often go hand-in-hand.) Try to keep it objective.
Side note: weren't people worried that bringing bolt back would ruin standard? lol.
Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
In vacuum [obviously it's really hard to judge cards in a vacuum since magic's a game of interacions but I will try!]:
BBE [You kind of need to build around it, but on the other hand you don't. To build around it pack your deck full of good cheap creatures, voila, problem solved.]
Jace [duh]
Lightning Bolt [It's 3 damage. For 1 mana.]
Gideon Jura [Just amazing.]
Day of Judgment [Wrath is just really powerful.]
Path to Exile [Swords but better for aggro? Wowee.]
Baneslayer [Yeah.]
Ajani Vengeant [My 2nd favorite 'for power' PW. Guy is insane. Always useful, can also win the game, or randomly Helix something as needed.]
Maelstrom Pulse [It just destroys everything. Well, except lands.]
Wavy on:
Blightning [I would argue 'only good if you cascade into it', but see BR Aggro]
Sprouting Thrinax [he is this good, he's just too hard to cast usually I think.]
Goblin Guide [I forgot about him, but I want to get him into the top 9 somewhere. Guide's pretty amazing.]
Ranger of Eos [Forgot about him before, but he's very dependent on the 1-drops in Standard, obviously. :)]
Not:
KoTR[see: before Zendikar]
Spreading Seas [see: formats where there aren't a bazillion manlands or something ... or a wacky 3-color cascade monster]
There are so many other cards that are really good. bleh. ...

forced failure makes a better guise,
so as i come again alive,
it feels like life's a decent plan
Malestrom pulse
Jace the mind sculpter
Bloodbriad
Elspeth
Baneslayer
Spreading seas
Knight of the reliquary
Lotus cobra
Pretty simple list, if pulse didn't kill jace, then jace would be first. Bloodbraid helped shape standard to bow to jund and seas is the 2nd best blue card in standard and ruins tempo. Lotus will be huge come rotation and already sees a lot of play. Gideon is decent for now but elspeth has more effect on the board especially after doj. Wanted to fit vengevine but knight right now is just better.
Totally spaced on baneslayer.
