What are your votes for the 9 best cards in standard at this moment? Stupid idea percolating.
No context (great against X! awesome in Y deck!,) just the straight up best cards in a vacuum. Clunky casting costs should be a factor though, this isn't an infinite resource exercise.
Votes so far indicate unanimous love for Jace and Gideon, but not so for BSA or BBE, which is surprising. Pulse and KotR hang out with the angel and elf, Blightning and Hierarch right behind. I get the impression that opinions are being heavily swayed by winning decklists and not raw power level (though the two often go hand-in-hand.) Try to keep it objective.
Side note: weren't people worried that bringing bolt back would ruin standard? lol.
Jace 2, Gideon, Sarkhan the Mad, Ajani Vengeant, Maelstrom Pulse, Elspeth, Iona, Baneslayer Angel, Knight of the Reliquary...
All but 2 of these cards(Pulse, Iona) are always must-answer threats that will dominate the game if left unchecked. I exclude Iona because she doesn't just dominate; she wins the game on resolution, usually. Pulse gets the nod for its sheer versatility, in combination with its X-for-1 potential.
Honorable mentions go to Ajani Vengeant and Oblivion Ring. I personally don't think Ajani V. dominates the game nearly as much as his 3 friends(I also haven't ever been much of a fan of him in general). Ring lags behind pulse because it can't net card advantage, and it can be answered later down the line. Both are still fundamentally very powerful and still are worth consideration.
EDIT: I would argue against BBE on account of the fact she's not that great *in a vacuum*. Part of what makes her good is all the good stuff she can cascade into. She is a strong card, but she isn't "nuts" unless you put her in the right deck with all those powerful 3 CMC spells (Jund).
I call shenanigans on Emrakul. I considered him/her/it, and I don't think it deserves a place here, as its only playable in Polymorph. Bolt I also generally disagree with, as its not a card that regularly will turn a game around as say, a walker would (or a pulse on said walker).
The problem with bolt is it's getting dropped - a lot. I'm not sure if Naya or Jund even run bolts anymore, pretty much leaving RDWs and the only decent deck that runs it.
Bloodbraid Elf
Path to Exile
Baneslayer Angel
Gideon Jura
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Maelstrom Pulse
Day of Judgement
Knight of the Reliquary
Elspeth, Knight-Errant
EDIT: Pulse seems out of place. To avoid making a hard decision, I declare a 9th place tie (for me) to Pulse, Blightning, Bolt and Heirarch.
Too bad, I wish there was room for Siege-Gang Commander in those list. He is a great card for card advantage and burn. I am also sad that there is no room for lotus cobra
i may have to explain some choices here. i rate alot of cards on weather they have life outside of standard, and while these are in standard a good portion will see play outside of it.

Jace 2 actually has very little game outside of Standard. Neither does Bloodbraid, Blightning, or Baneslayer. And what card did you mean by "Kor"?
If I were to evaluate the best cards in other formats that happen to be Standard legal (which makes little sense btw), it'd be something like:
Noble Hierarch
Maelstrom Pulse
Qasali Pridemage
Knight of the Reliquary
Duress
Path to Exile
Iona, Shield of Emeria
Lightning Bolt
Wild Nacatl
Baneslayer is just efficient for it's cost, BBE gives free spells, the Planeswalkers give virtual CA, Pulse gives CA and deals with anything, Blightning is CA, and Warp World and Cruel Ultimatum just have a lot of raw power for their cost (even though both are not doing well in standard right now).
So if I were to say "you're a complete douchebag who has his head up his ass so far he's using his own eyeballs as glasses," you'd simply shrug it off?

I also wanna put Vengevine in there, but I'm still not convinced its place in Standard warrants its price.
Edit: this is actually a pretty hard question. I forgot Noble Hierarch, Lotus Cobra, Day of Judgment, Lightning Bolt, and Wall of Omens. Hmph.

Don't forget cards that don't see play because they don't have a deck. Esper Charm is pretty boss.
If you want to separate things into categories like 'best finisher' and such that is fine too if it makes things easier. Just need thoughts men!

7. Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
8. Ajani Vengeant
9. Lightning Bolt
I agree with this except I think I'd put Bolt in over Elspeth.
Hehe if that is the case, I heard Cruel Ultimatum was pretty good a year ago.

Cards i think that others might consider top 9 that is not in my list but are really good, just to name a few.
Spreading Seas, Vengvine, Maelstrom Pulse, Lighting Bolt, Ajani Vengeant, Elspeth, Knight-Errant
This minus Elspeth + Bolt. DoJ is my runner up.
