I feel like Covenant of Minds
could be a very good card.
It is one of the best draw spells in standard.
If only it was an instant.
Isn't Mysteries of the Deep more or less the same thing in most situations, except it doesn't give them the chance to negate an awesome draw or see the junk you drew into? Not to mention that it's instant speed too and sees little to no play =/.
He is so man, he is mario, and I will tell my opponents such. As and when I bounce their permanent I will exclaim "MARIO" as though he were stomped on by our mighty Jace. Every time someone kill him I will give them 99 USD (not AUS!!!) because their lightning bolt should cost 100 DOLLARS...
Jace even made it into the Teenage Super Hero Mutant Ninja Hero Turtles.
The people that play legacy / vintage always amuse me. They want their formats to be represented more. They want more tournaments. But when anyone suggests allowing more people access to the formats by reprinting cards, the same people start screaming about the reprint policy.
But not instant speed, which is very relevant. And it's reversible. Especially in multiples it gets hurt by Pulse.
Regardless, I think any mono-white control deck should play 4 Path to Exile and 2-4 Journey to Nowhere. Enchantments don't get targeted often enough for the card not to be a threat. Removal doesn't make Admonition Angel's ability any less dangerous.
I actually agree with Journey to Nowhere. Sure, Path is more versatile and a whole lot better when you're not the aggro player (e.g. vs RDW), but when your strategy is dedicated pound 'em to death before they stabilize - which is a very valid approach to take in white right now - Journey to Nowhere clears a blocker without ramping them into stabilizing, which is also very relevant.

I think it's better than Oblivion Ring, but I'll probably get flak for that.

I think it very much depends on what you're using it for, but I think there are cases where it's better than Oblivion Ring, and I think running a split of them is wise right now either way if you're going that path for your removal suite just to play around Maelstrom Pulse.

Yeah...in mono-white control, I think it's good to play:
4 Path to Exile
2-4 Day of Judgment
2-3 Journey to Nowhere
2-3 Oblivion Ring
Before Worldwake I would have bashed anyone playing that card over... well anything. Then WW came... omg... played it with 4 man-land, 3 fetchland, 4 tectonic Edge and a single Gargoyle Castle and I was always happy to draw a Grim.If you add some dude that produce CA like Gatekeeper of Malakir/Sphinx of lost truth or just beast that are hard to deal with (Sphinx of Jwar Island/Malakir Bloodwitch) it become awesome sauce.
The card isn't good, I just love it.Add 1 or 2 in your sideboard to punish those pesky deck that doesn't run removal
Or better yet, run some creatures that suffer, "good, but dies to removal" (GBDTR for short) then haunting echos, thought hemorrhage, and sadistic sacrament all their removal...
Then have him eat Nicol Bolas and the Magic universe can be awesome again. He takes over the Infinite Consortium and turns it into a trans-multiverse Izzet League. His agents scour the multiverse in Venser's planeships looking for magic to learn, technology to improve upon, and less intelligent people to condescend to.
Really, I think Chandra Nalaar is a seriously underrated Planeswalker. I know she is used a little, but she is better than the limited use would suggest.
Oh.. Bloodbraid... that was a good one.
I actually run Nalaar in my mono-red valakut. I love it when I cant burn out a creature and drop her to do my heavy lifting.
But as for an underrated card. Honestly, why is NO jund running Lavalanche Jund earthquake that hits air and not you? I love that idea. Even if it were just a SB option
after playing it in my jund for a week, I have to say Sedraxis Specter is surpremely underrated.
vs any non white removal it is simply a card advantage engine-it needs to be answered or it will take over the game and if you remove it with anything non white it is card disadvantage because it will just unearth.

Really dominates the Jund mirror.
Sedraxis Specter is uber tech in standard just before WW release. It was used in an Unearth combo deck. I played against it today. I got totally smaked~
There must be some way to make this card viable. Two of them out, and your opponents are milling four per spell.

It’s like the universe screams in your face, “Do you know what I am? How grand I am? How old I am? Can you even comprehend what I am? What are you, compared to me?” And when you know enough science, you can just smile up at the universe and reply, “Dude, I am you.”
Low cost, decent/standard toughness for a 1W drop, and the ability to lock down attackers/blockers before they're declared as attackers or blockers. 4 of them with 2-4 Scepter of Dominance is potentially better than removal spells.
regenerating things such as cudgell troll and river boa. with all these DoJs happening and the lack of trample, some nice regeneration would keep attackers at bay

trample is not that lacking imo, since naya and most anything with access to white or green runs a sledge. i don't like the cudgel troll, but the river boa is absolutely devastating against U/W control. slap a sledge or something on that and it's basically game.

umm no?
doj? path? O-ring? Martial coup?
U/W control very rarely blocks creatures to remove them.
Are you implying DoJ and Martial coup stops me from regenerating ? In that case, that sure would be a problem.
Even if we didn't have Path and Oblivion Ring, it wouldn't be a problem. Boa taps to attack. So it'll get a swing in before we DoJ it and the rest of your non threatening green weenies next turn while it's still tapped and can't regenerate again. Or just wait until you're tapped out period.
River Boa? Really?

Makes all sorts of fun landfall effects happen

I stepped out of a supernova...and so did you.
I agree. Completely. I'd throw it in a mill/Bloodchief Ascension deck.
I'm going with:
Blinding Mage

RWG Boss Naya
Pyroclasm and Volcanic Fallout are both good cards, but unfortunately have little effect on the current meta.
Wargate is asking to be broken.
I always like Spellbreaker Behemoth, too. In a control heavy meta it would see some use, IMO. And what do you know, Jund colors.

so does Anathemancer for that matter, a very underrated card at the moment
