Thresher is there mostly because he's huge and very competitively priced. The fact that he's great against control (5C and Fae) and Tokens is just icing. A lot of people are trying various cascade builds right now, and having an instant speed monster like that is quite helpful.
I don't think treetops have ever been a problem. I've ran 4 in pretty much every GX deck I've built since seeing them shine for me at states last year. The only deck they are less than amazing against is cascade LD, which usually gets beaten by Leech and Vanquisher anyways.
Goats! Jacob van Lunen was right. If I had to choose between killing people with goats and eating ice cream, I'd definately pick killing people with goats.
lol after looking at my collection i found out i got all the cards necessary to built this deck in its full version
is it worth taking to fnm and to a ptq??
because i really dont feel like testing this deck,it doesnt look like much
im also surprised not seing any champions/perfects in the lists here
I want to post my list but dont want to seem like i have a noob build. I dont have a sideboard and i want to get cloudthrashers. But i will get at it and post my list later on tonight.
So, I've basically noticed in playing against this deck that garruk is terrible against...well, everything. Sometimes you get a nice overrun off him, but that's about it. With that in mind, I looked at the Japanese list and decided to tweak it a bit, resulting in the following:
I know the removal suite is a little expensive (no terrors or nameless is a little risky) but I think the other cards I have (profane, warhammer) are too good in those slots to pass up, especially against 5cblood and tokens. Anyway, let me know what you think!

How is he terrible? i dont get it you mean in a mirror ?
He's terrible because he doesn't DO anything. Faeries attacks him through the air to kill him, 5c bloodbraid can really just ignore him or attack into him and his token with a putrid leech to just not care, or drop bloodbraid and attack hastily into him with no loss, like you are seriously paying 4 mana for a call of the herd token and maybe 3 life? Best case is against a 5c control deck that doesnt have maelstrom pulse or anything, and even then, they can just drop broodmate in like a turn and kill him anyway. Obviously turn3 garruk into untap two lands into wrens run into t4 overrun is great, but you should just play overrun if you want that type of play, because you would still get the t4 overrun. I see no situation where you would want garruk over say, warhammer, which wins races like no other and is just the bomb versus bw tokens, or profane command, which...also wins races, allows for alpha strikes past spectral tokens and cloudgoats, and can switch a losing board position into a winning one. garruk honestly is flat out TERRIBLE.

This. If you're still playing Garruk, you need to do more testing with different cards. He's very weak right now.

Azamat, you make a good point about Garruk, even as much as I like him. I'm going to do some playtesting without him and see how it does.
I haven't played with Garruk in 4 months and I thought that I would try the card again after seeing Sean's list. I soon realized that I missed the Loxodon Warhammers that I dropped to fit him in. The warhammers are such a beating against most other mid range decks and one successful swing with a hammer basically wins agasint RDW / Blightning.
For those people who are new to the deck and have been asking questions about treetops and mutavaults, here is a recommendation play with 4 x Treetop and at least 3 mutavaults. I have played with 4 treetops and 4 mutavaults since this deck won the PT and I haven't looked back. These cards are the reason you can fight against control past the 7th or 8th turn after they have wrathed or cast Cruel Ultimatum.
I was under the impression that Garruk would be terrible as well before I played in Regionals. I added 2 to my decklist at the last minute and I am really glad that I did. On paper he looks very weak in the current format, but his first two abilities are always going to be relevant. You can either untap and play a two-drop the turn he comes into play, or if you don't have a two-drop you can spit out a Beast token. Either way, you're getting a creature and a threat that your opponent must deal with right away. Even if they can get rid of him, you just bought yourself a turn, and in a deck like BG Elves an extra turn is often very relevant.
I'm not saying there aren't better cards, I would just suggest not dismissing him solely on the grounds that he dies to a a token barrage. I would be much less inclined to play him now because of Faeries, but that is because (1) he is essentially a 4cc sorcery that can be easily countered before I get a chance to do anything with him. And (2), I'd rather be playing Thoughtseize main deck.

I have not tried sygg in this deck, i can imagine he wouldnt be that good. He is good for a blocker and maybe the odd card drawn, but what would you take out for him.Im not saying you shouldnt give it a try, if he turns out to be amazing i would try it also.
And about the garruk discussion. I personally think he is amazing in this deck. Every time i drop him i can see my oponent squirm. When you first drop you can cast him for only 2 or get a 3/3 elephant. The over run is an amazing finisher.
Sygg is out of place in this deck. We kill faster than the deck Sygg "belongs" in. You won't be able to draw as many cards because the games usually don't last as long. And you really don't want to drop Sygg on T2. Oh it's also hard on your mana. Double black is already not something that happens often early on.
I don't quite agree with this.....Most of our creatures do actually attack for 3. Vaquisher, Leech, Finks, CC, Treetop, Liege, Profane, if you play the exalted lists an exalted wayfinder, Garruk beast tokens, perfect pumped wayfinders....etc. But the fact that most of our creatures do in fact attack for 3 plus means that we rarely just attack for 3. We are usually bashing our opponents to death very early and if we spend an early turn playing sygg we are taking away from our threat level.
I have been playtesting with Sygg a lot and it has been working pretty well for me. The casting cost for it doesn't seem to be a problem with my experience in playing him. I have Llanowar Wastes(4), Swamp (2), Gilt-Leaf Palace (4), Twilight Mire (4).
This is a usual first start for me:
Turn 1: Elf/Hierarch (depends on your build)
Turn 2: Vanquisher
Turn 3: Sygg and a Putrid Leech or another Vanquisher
Turn 4: Wilt-Leaf Liege
And for the Sygg, River Cutthroat, I cut 2 Chameleon Colossus. I know most of you are like, WHAT!!! :0. But trust me, in my testing, Colossus has only been good in the mirror match and b/w tokens. It gets hit by every played removal spell in the format currently, with the exceptions of: Terminate, Shriekmaw, Eyeblights Ending, Nameless Inversion.

Colossus is very good vs mirror, bw tokens, fae, 5cb, jund aggro, jund ramp and he is decent vs rdw/br aggro so....don't cut him, especially not Sygg, which is bad in this deck and just unnecessary. I am gonna have to agree with Flores and say that Chameleon colossus IS the best elf in this deck.
I don't really miss any elf reveals. I havn't had any situations yet, where I havn't had an elf.
Try out Sygg. If you don't like it, you can add in 2 chameleon Colossus. I just havn't been in a situation where I was like, "wow, I wish I had a Colossus right now." In my playtesting I have found Sygg quite useful, as i draw a profane to win the game next turn, or an inversion to help out.

Though I do recommend testing it and getting some practice. Deck has a bunch of little intricacies and requires quite a bit of playskill to do well.

If you really want to play Sygg and Leech just play 5c blood or Jund. Neither really belong in this deck.
