This is a very innovative deck that had a reasonable amount of success at a the Cruise Qualifier at Starcity this past weekend. It was piloted to the top 8 and I was fascinated with the deck and interviewed one of the players who was running it. After getting home from the event I sleeved this thing up and gave it a shot in my grinder. Here is the list that I used:
The deck was nuts once it got started but seemed to have issues against decks like Merfolk and Baneslayer Control that had threats and counterspells as opposed to just counters like 5cc. It faired very well against Jund and Kithkin and other aggro based decks. The deck can stall the game out extremely well and once it starts stacking multiple Time Walks you will be looking at a very devastated board.
The ideal opening is this:
Turn 1: Vivid - best play in standard
Turn 2: Pool and Fertile Ground on Vivid
Turn 3: Land, Garruk untap Jace Both Draw
Turn 4: Land, Both Draw for Jace, Howling Mine, Savor the Moment Twincasted
Turn 4: Land Both Draw for Jace, Garruk make a beast
Turn 4: Land, Jace, Untap with Garruk, Time Warp yourself.
Turn 4: Mirror Sheen, Time Warp, and copy with Sheen
Turn 4: you get to the point where you can use Primal Commands to target yourself with the graveyard shuffling and plowundering your opponent multiple times because of Mirror Sheen. I was once able to Primal Command with Twincast and Mirror Sheen in play. It was sick. Then Start bouncing all your opponent creature with Cryptic.
Now you can play the deck much differently than this, but basic gameplan is to put your opponent so far behind on lands and threats that you can mill them or Overrun with Garruks. You will never deck yourself and you can eventually win any match barring counter magic.
4 Jace Beleren
4 Fertile Ground
1 Mirror Sheen
4 Cryptic Command
2 Twincast
4 Time Warp
3 Savor the Moment
3 Firespout
4 Howling Mine
3 Vivid Grove
4 Flooded Grove
4 Reflecting Pool
5 Island
4 Forest
