Ok... so i've been seeing that there will be some new Planeswalkers.. in particular cards that have been issued in Legends like Nichol Bolas and a host of others.
I'm curious as to what the ruling is for the cards. do the old legend cards become the new planeswalkers or do they remain legends? since these new planeswalkers are legal in type2 would that mean that the old legend will be legal as well, seeing as how they share the same name though i realize they are different creature types, as it were.
perhaps this question should be addressed to a different audience however i'm interested in the answer from a type2 perspective.
btw.. in before "type2 is oldskool"

creatures aren't planeswalkers. they are a completely new card type. the legend creature type went to a supertype, and now all the creatures have "legendary creature, xx" where xx can be anything from cat to human to what have you. that means that you could have a nichol bolas planeswalker and a nichol bolas dragon out and it won't have any interaction on a rulings level.
i'm not 100% sure on what your trying to ask, but i'll attempt to help you out.
first of all, legends of a particular name, have had new versions made later on. an example would be Ertai, Wizard Adept and Ertai, the corrupted. both of these are the same guy as far as storyline and flavor are concerned but they can be in play at the same time, why? becouse their names are different, so state based effects don't actualy care.
now for the next part, Planeswalkers Are Not Creatures!!!!. they are their own special type of permanent. Also, while their rules work similar, they are technicaly not legendary permanents. all you need to worry about is the line in the middle of the card, if you have a planeswalker- ajani, then any other planeswalker with "planeswalker-ajani" that comes into play will cause both to blow up.
Nicol bolas was first printed as a creature, now he has his own planeswalker card, what this means is that nicol the creature can be in play while nicol the planeswalker is in play. as far as the game is concerned, they don't affect each other.
planeswalker rules check the planeswalker subtype, example: "planeswalker - ajani". this is why vengeant and goldmane cant both be on the board at the same time. hope that clears things up
actually thats not the question you were asking haha im used to answering the other question. but the answer is no, they are completely different cards and do not have the same name. hence "nicol bolas, planeswalker"
