I don't want it to die, but there have been so many variants posted since the threads birth, that it'll probably die a little bit until Shards comes out.
I think we've discussed most of the things we can, barring crazy, out of the box stuff.
Iam new to this thread and seen some wacky and really interesting stuff. So that being said i dont want to sit down and read though 11 pages though. Would it be poissble to do the OP'er did and make a bunch of new updated optimal goat list for each color? Or even budget Ideas or a list of cards that should be considered when running any colors.
is there any one list that stands out above the rest or are most of them good in there own way?
Basically same concept as the rest of these decks, but it's a bit more on the control side. Get a lot of tokens down and use them to chump block until you get either Godhead or Oona down. If you get Godhead you just mass attack with your 1/1's (which you should have much more than your opponent) and that should kill them. Or if you get Oona, you sac the goats to Pasture to add a lot of mana and hopefully exchange them for 1/1 fliers which should be able to kill your opponent, or you can just deck your opponent.
Haven't tested it yet, it's just a theory. I don't have all the cards yet, but I will be working on getting them. If anyone tests, please feel free to share your results, and what you changed.
I thought about running 3 Mulldrifters, 3 Plumeveils, 3 O-rings, and 3 Knight of the Meadowgrain.
anyone got any tournament results? anyone find any of these decks any good? I likes to me like the R/W and mono white might be awesome, i more leaning toward the arrgo than control side though.
Round 2 vs. Red Deck Wins
Just got pounded. RDW took off like no other, didn't see a Wrath to try and stabilize. Two losses really fast. Think this is just a bad matchup.
Round 3 vs. Monogreen fat w/ Elvish Piper
First game, managed to hold of some pain by blocking and blinking Finks and Shepherd, building my token count. Attacked with 23 goat tokens (had 7 more, but no haste), and sprung a Nobilis from the Heights after no blocks declared. 46 damage in one swing.
Second game, Halos held off beaters (including Talara's Batallion) with some very persistent Finks (block, persist brings it back, next turn block, damage on the stack, Blink/Mist, opponent's creature dies, I have a brand new Kitchen Fink . . . good times) I managed to get 15 goats in play via Heights and a Shepherd, then fed them all to Springjack Pasture for 15 R and 15 life, and tapped out for a 17-damage Molten Disaster with the kicker. I was at 36 life before it resolved, my opponent was at 10. Split-second = fun.
Deck achievements // Amusing Situations:
30 tokens in play at one time during a single game
Goat-gunning w/ Furystoke for about 18 damage in one turn.
3 games having 10+ tokens in play at one time
3 active Runed Halos at one time, one for a creature in the graveyard, one for a creature in play, and one for a creature I hadn't seen yet but knew was in his deck
This build loses a good chunk to rotation in a month, but might be able to survive. I really, REALLY like Furystoke Giant in this, he turns all my goats into Shockers, and Windbrisk Heights enables all kinds of shenanigans. I haven't had to board in Goatnapper yet, but it's there for Chameleon Colossus and other changeling jerks ('nap it, attack, put it out to pasture to gain a life and cast something else). Opal Guardian has been boarded in about 50% of matches for Plumeveil, this might become permanent for the next few weeks. Akroma is my answer to anything running WU or Cryptic Command, and was boarded in to Divinity of Pride a couple games. As for Divinity, I've never seen it in a game that mattered (playtesting a couple times, mediocre results), but it seems decent in a turn where I feed a bunch of goats to Wrath the board, then drop it as the only creature in play, but like I said, I've never done that yet or had the opportunity.
I'll deal with the rotation when the time comes. This deck is a lot of fun.
One thing I noticed that no one has tried or used is Rhys The Redeemed!!! Since this is sort of a slow deck the second ability should would wonders in here!!!

White Magus, you may proceed to begin laughter You inspired me to actually follow through with this when I read that quote.
Those are REALLY GOOD results!! If the problem is RDW maybe u could make
-4 Avalanche
+4 Burrenton
or
-4 Avalanche
+4 Story circle
I think we dont want to win in the firsts turns, so playing story wont be horrible, it will give us the timming we need! i think im gonna try this version, really liked the deck and it looks really fun
@ Guillot3: I'm assuming you mean Burrenton Forge-tender? Yeah, that'll likely get put in the board for 'Riders. I've never used the Riders yet (I thought of a Blink-Riders redux as SB option). Blink will probably become a 4th Mist, and maybe a couple witches are a good idea. I want to try and avoid putting in MORE Time Spiral block or Coldsnap cards, as they rotate out in a month, and I don't want to be left with more holes than there already will be. Definitely think I'll be trying to work in a second Furystoke Giant, man oh man was goat-gunning hilarious for me.
One thing I need to fill is a utility board-sweeper like Molten Disaster. Kicking a split-second kill is ridiculous, but I can't think of anything that comes close at the moment for filling that hole.
Let me state again, this deck was INSANE amounts of fun. People were shocked when I said "Make some goats." or "Attack with my goats -- no blocks? -- Take XX damage, good game." This seems to have potential. I plan on testing against a Tier 1 Faerie deck (my own) and will post results. Also, going to be making changes pre-emtively for rotation. Thanks for your help, everyone, and let's try and make this work
wow i'm really surprised that this deck did as well as it did. Never the less it does seem like a lot of fun.
i'm sure this has been mentioned before but have u tried mirrorweave? it could replace divinity if you find the God not effective enough as a finisher. or maybe it might prove to be a good 3-of in your maindeck?

The red splash is awesome... i really like the idea of a furystoke + tap form 30 dmg ^^
If alara gives more things for control then the deck might be kinda in danger, but my guesses are that is gonna be all aggro, and this deck has a GREAT match up against aggro.
Here in Argentina is almost imposible to get a playset of reflecting or fixing lands, because for me they are reaaaaally expensive so i wont be able to pay the kicker of molten, (r)(r)(r) will be imposible for me, so im thinkin for Firespout as one of the choices...
Now, if the meta becomes control, the red splash will save us thanks to SB vexing shusher that is the nuts against em and when it comes into play has a big "SHOOT ME" in his face.
The witch is nice, but i find it too slow, if she had at least a bigger body... it works nice, but my thoughts is that it would be a slow overkill or something weird I prefer a 2 slots story circle so we can hold on RDW or DDW till we get to play all our goats, there will be a lot of firespout also and we dont have any answers to that.
Maybe light from within could also be tested, it abuses the mana symbols the same way as goats, and having a 13/13 flying lifelink would be awesome ^^
About mirrorweave, they can be used as a SB card, believe me... copying ashenmoor gouger with 5 tokens is NUTS. Its better to use mirrorweave with ur opponents cards ^^

Try Vivid Meadow and Vivid Crag if you can get them. But don't worry too much about it, as I said, Molten Disaster rotates out in a month. Possibly even Shimmering Grotto could help.
Light from Within is something I never really considered, only because it doesn't pump the goats. I might have to try that one out, see how it works . . . it does move Kitchen Finks out of fast removal range, and puts Flickerwisp and Nobilis of War into a "kill me or else" category. Even Plumeveil gains a gigantic boost for my defensive wall.
The big thing keeping me form using Mirrorweave is that I don't own any, otherwise, I probably would be running at least a couple in the 'board.
Ok so i think there is enough win con's with goats but iam not sure if there is enough without. I was thinking of trying to get some Cloudgoat rangers in the deck somehow. Anyways what do you guys think?
ok so i made some changes and i think its for the best. The deck seems a lot faster with a better curve and i think will do much better vs arrgo decks.
land 23 2*vivid meadow 1*vivid crag 3*reflecting pool 3*battlefield forge 1*windbrisk heights 2*Springjack Pasture 1 Rugged Prairie
as you can see its more a W/r than a W/R but thats ok. Red can offer interesting choices and sideboard options.
I believe adding a strong 2 drop will speed the deck up as well as help kill arrgo and win the game. with a 1 drop that can be a game winning on its own i believe the decks gets much faster.
@ Ryadic blue goats... yes ... a blue goat deck is a must! complete w Cache Raiders
Now if you get good with making goats n stuff... what is a useful spell to use the goats as mana on? Beacon of Immortality was mentioned earlier in the thread. There must be something better.
two random tweaks on the goat theme for amusement only
Are there any spoilers from alara that look good in this deck yet?
Possibly Caldera Hellion or Titanic Ultimatum, but neither as a 4-of. Possibly a 1- or 2-of. Sigiled Paladin seems decent, but will compete for slots in the aggro-themed versions with Paladin en-Vec, which is almost the same thing but is pro our two bad colour matchups.
I've always thought Swell of Courage would be great in these decks as a 2-3-of.
Though, I think the concept of actually winning with your goats is a little boring. Meaning, pumping them and attacking or Furystoking with them.
Almost no one has posted a deck that really utilizes Spingjack Pasture, even though all the decks run them. When I first saw goats and Pasture, it all seemed like a good, fast way to ramp into a huge creature (by sacrificing them for big mana). Is that just not viable or something?
I don't know - I guess I'd just like to see a little more creativity in GOAT decks than ''play W guys, play Shepherd, get goats, pump goats, attack.''
I primarily play multiplayer, so I'm looking to test a variant that uses Hurricane (which would actually use the goats for mana). (Had a great multiplayer night last night, but alas! my goat cards have not yet arrived; pesky USPS. :p)
Once they arrive and I can get a few games in, I'll post results. (Though perhaps I should put them in the Variant Formats forum, and not here?)
I think we've discussed most of the things we can, barring crazy, out of the box stuff.

This build went 2-1 on the night. All matches were either 2-0 or 0-2, nothing went to three games.
Round 1 vs. a BR Necroskitter deck
First game, held creatures off w/ Plumeveil and Kitchen Finks, built up about 8-10 goat tokens by blinking Springjack Shepherd, then popped a Furystoke Giant out of Windbrisk Heights, and goats machine-gunned my opponent's life.
Second game, his Necroskitter started working, killing and stealing my guys with Soul Snuffers until I topped a Wrath. Two Nobilis of War later, GG.
Round 2 vs. Red Deck Wins
Just got pounded. RDW took off like no other, didn't see a Wrath to try and stabilize. Two losses really fast. Think this is just a bad matchup.
