It seems on other forums the general name of this type of deck is being called "Hellrazer". Basically you bring out as many creatures as possible and by turn 3-4 you unleash a Realm Razer, which usually brings the game highly in your favor or ends it.
The deck however does not (should not) rely on Realm Razer. The deck can be very aggro or can a bit controlling. Most builds seem to be very aggro. They aggro it out and drop a Realm Razer for game winning position.
- Wooly Thoctar is just a huge low cost beatstick that survives pyroclasm, firespout and causes a huge problem for the opponent after Realm Razer.
- We have persistant and hard to kill creatures like Kitchen Finks and Oversoul of Dusk. Oversoul of Dusk is great incase Realm Razer is destroyed you should be able to bring out the Oversoul no problem or if it was already out they will still have to deal with it which is no easy task.
- Early Moonholds keeps them from playing lands and creatures while you set up, basically it's like getting an extra turn if you play it turn 2 or 3. Primal Command is there for it's toolbox effect. Manaplasm helps for mana manipultion and deck thinning. Gift of the Gargantuan
No you don't want them to play their lands / creatures on either turn 2-3. The reason behind that is you don't want them to be able to play counters/firspout/pyroclasm or any other annoying hindering card. Then when you pull off realm razer you usualy have 2-3 turns of free attacking and pressuring your opponent. Usually since they have such low mana they tap out desperatly. Also moonhold stops them from playing lands/creatures after Realm Razer hits them field.
just as a consideration. Fod = white/Red and then Bloom would tap for Green/Red/White, just an idea. Also 12 mana ramp seems abit hardcore, how has it been? Its just i can see you having lots of mana producers and no finsihers in your hand/ on the board
Actually I'm going to try Figure of Destiny in here. He seems like the perfect choice for that extra push. yeah 12 mana ramp seems a lot but the Steward of Valerons are pretty aggro themselves since I can attack then tap to bring something out.
If you really wanted to stall them out...and have mana control....run the shield of oversoul.....razer is green and while so he gains flying and is industructable...and then you dont have to worry bout unmake for 3 turns..and since you are running alot of mane fixing creatures you cn run the land destructions from shadowmore/eventide block

Do you think this would be a good trade off?
-2 Gift of the Gargantuan
-2 Primal Command
+4 Shield of the Oversoul
yea cuz once you drop razer and you still have some mana makers like BOP drop the shield and its basically game unless they still got board control and it shouldnt take long for them to lose it with a 6/4 flying industructable living armagedon

i just went through it and i ended up with
Realm Razer x3
Sheild of the Oversoul x4
Poison the well x4
Drain the well x4
Regal force x3
woolly thoctar x4
bloom tender x4
llanowar elf x4
birds of paradise x4
garruk x2
S. Vol.....x2
Gilder bairn x2
I also don't really like bloom tender. The most ideal thing you can do with it is:
t1 Birds
t2 Bloom Tender
t3 Wooly Thoctar, tap bloom tender for um... another wooly thoctar?
T4 Realm Razer.
Not bad! But...
T1 Birds
t2 Steward of Valeron
t3 Whatever, swing with your steward for the hell of it. play a thoctar if you want to, s'all good.
t4 swing with your steward because you can, then Realm Razer.
Works just as well. Basically, the point is there will never be a point where If you had bloom tender you could play realm razer earlier than if you had just good ol fashioned birds, elves, or steward of valeron. And steward gets that extra little bit of damage in.
Ooh... although now that I look at the list again I see those 4 lanowar elves. I guess this deck is supossed to be producing mana when your opponents can't? In that case, perhaps you should indeed replace them with bloom tenders... Although I can see how t1 mana accel is super awesome... tough call.
Wow, yeah shield of the oversoul is a nice win con here on the razer, and even if its "just" on a 7/6 flying indestructable wooly thoctar, or a 4/4 flying indestructable vigilance, its still nice. And protects against snakeform (along with any other removal cept for hallowed burriel, but they're long dead by that time) which is a bonus.
Edit:
ALERT! you've only got 8 red mana sources, 4 of which are creatures, for twelve spells that must (or in moonhold's case "should") be played with red and their other colors. I would definitly add more red, and take out the oversouls, you don't really need them in here and it could screw up your curve.
Also Big Blue: let me know how the 8 well spells work for you. I don't actually even play them in limited so I have my doubts to say the least.
If you want to keep their lands down after the razer you could drastically change your curve, and put in some Deus of Calamity, allthough I think razer is enough.
Fulimantor Mage... yup. Thats whasa ya need. And uhm.. Maybe one copy of sarkhan.. or whas his face... Garruk. Demigod of Revenge would be sweet too.. maybe 2of after the razer hits.. hmm

have you tried deus of calamity? Dropping a realm razor out with him on the board would be nasty.
Ya He was in my very first build. I found that most of the time when you have Razer + a Woolly on the field it's game anyway. Oversoul of Dusk has been working much better for me because even in the rare chances that they get rid of Razer they have a harder time dealing with Oversoul of Dusk.
Moonhold is enough Land control, LD isn't needed much. Moonhold is amazing especially vs aggro or blue decks since I basically in the first 4 turns hold them back a turn which is enough for me to hold my ground before they start aggroing or countering me and then start my thing.
Heres the most updated version. I just tried it out against RDW and won 2-1 because of Moonhold games 1 and 3 and Garruk game 3 (I started game 1 and 3). I lost g2 because he had 3x Shock starting hand with a FoD and kept drawing lands while I had drawn 2 with mana excel that got shocked.
I also don't really like bloom tender. The most ideal thing you can do with it is:
t1 Birds
t2 Bloom Tender
t3 Wooly Thoctar, tap bloom tender for um... another wooly thoctar?
T4 Realm Razer.

I'm working on something similar, but mine is more aggresive. more 1 drops and the Bloom Tender to bring out The Beast faster than turn 6 or even 5. I'm confused as why you are using oversoul, I would use Colossus, you can't pump him unless you've got extra land or ton's of mana creatures, but he costs much better than the oversoul and comes out a turn faster.
Figure of Destiny would be great because it lets that Bloom Tender accelerate you to a turn three Realm Razer, just like ctrlshft was saying. Also, Fulminator Mage would be fun. Imagine having a Fulminator on the field already, and then dropping a Realm Razer right next to it? They go to play a land, and then you pop it, stranding them on land for a whole 'nother turn. Ridiculous, anyone? Or you could just play Fulminator the turn after you Razer, because you'll most likely have a Bloom Tender and/or Birds on the field.
Bloom Tender lets you drop a three-drop on turn three, like say Realm Razor, and then tap for something else, like say Moonhold, during their turn. I myself am be going to build this deck really really soon. Might try out Ajani Vengeant too, who gets even better with Bloom Tender because it has that magical Red/White color to it, helping that Tender pump out it's crazy three mana a turn.
The deck however does not (should not) rely on Realm Razer. The deck can be very aggro or can a bit controlling. Most builds seem to be very aggro. They aggro it out and drop a Realm Razer for game winning position.
- You got mana excel creatures like Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Steward of Valeron, Bloom Tender to bring out threats early on + being a source of mana after Realm Razer.
- Figure of Destiny is plain amazing, especially with Bloom Tender for to bring out early Realm Razers/WoollyThoctars.
