The bad thing is its really easy to counter by just yanking the initial target creature away, either with an unmake or a turn to mist but it works great if you have something to deal with those annoying little distractions
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
GB Elves <-man I hate this deck, it has a 50/50 matchup against Tier 1/2 but loses to jank aggro most of the time. UB Faeries <-only reason it's good is because of all those people that's still playing 5CC. WB Tokens <-so boring, there's only 2 ways to play this deck. RB Blightning <-Autopilotting you to victory 0-2 drop.
???B Super Secret Tech <-dude, this thing is nuts! 90/10 against all matchups.
I prefer this in Quillspike over Rite of Consumption, and it' still useful if you have no other removal in your hand. I've had a lot of instances where someone will target one of my Nantuko Husks with a removal spell and in response I'd use Soul's Fire and sac a few creatures to end up doing 10 damage.
its useful, but i would stick with rite of consumption, mainly because the targeted creature can't be just picked off to throw up the combo. the sac of rite is still pretty useful, and the life gain has saved me before. I could see them both being very useful, souls fire's instant speed is the main advantage.
If you have the mana to drop some giant creature worth using Soul's Fire on then you probably have the mana to just play a Blaze-like effect. It's slightly slower, but you aren't begging to get two-for-oned, it isn't a dead card when you don't have any creatures, and if you have to you can use it early to get rid of something small. It's much more reliable.
Ah okay, I misread the wording on the card. I thought it said, "Soul's Fire deals damage equal to the power of target creature you control to target creature or player." That would make it much better, no?
I think the card can work well in a mana ramp deck with cards like Deus of Calamity, Chameleon Colossus, and Cloudthresher.
What are your opinions on the card?
Remember, Deus of Calamity's text just says when it deals damage, not combat damage.

Im pretty sure thats the right answer.
the creature has to still be in play when Soul's Fire resolves or there will be no damage dealt.

Soul's Fire is pretty bad in constructed, quite bad in fact. It is a rather good limited card.
