...that can kill artifact creatures. It's something that neither Terror or Namless Inversion can do. I wouldn't play it over Terror, but I would pack it as additional removal over Nameless Inversion.

Agreed. I'd play it over Nameless. Nameless just doesn't cut it anymore with the 4 toughness guys.

And side note... not too impressed by Shards in terms of Standard metagame.
Could envision the RBG torrents deck becoming popular. As well as some slower control decks, and a GUW Aggro-Control with Exalted.

In other words, Faeries is probably here to stay

it can pump a misty for 7 damage..

...both can kill 3toughness critters.

it requires UB to cast.

Pros and Cons

Terror - Can target anything. Except black and artifact creatures.
Nameless Inversion - Can be revealed for Secluded Glen and can be used on the offensive. Can not kill 4 toughness or greater creatures.
Agony Warp - Can 2 for 1 your opponent. Restrictive mana cost.
Executioner Capsule - Can target anything. Except black creatures. No surprise element. Total investment of 3 mana.

That said, I think Agony Warp and Executoner Capsule definitely need to be considered over Nameless. Testing will tell.

But Terror is still the strongest of the removal suit... in my opinion.

So, now that we have the full spoiler, who wants to speculate on the next Fae incarnation? I think it'll look mostly like the block Fae with a few new cards, but not too many surprises. The question will be whether you want to run a board sweeper sideboard (like Infest or Incremental Blight).

I think faeries can stay the way they are...just maybe add more spot removal and forget about the 2cc counter spell. Broken Ambitions doesn't cut it for me in testing. Ponder is no replacement for ancestral visions, but it'll do

Broken Ambitions is decent in that it clash is really, really good with this deck.

But, yeah, play Remove Soul.

I have a question about Broken Ambitions. Maybe someone can clear this up for me. Why does everyone like it in this deck? I mean, You pay 1U to counter a spell unless they pay 1. If you want to make them pay more, you're paying 2U at the very least. But by that point, you might as well just play Cancel for a guaranteed counter.


Shards seemed a lot slower than I expected. Maybe fairies won't be bad afterall.

Because it counters a spell played on the second turn.

Think of it like...
Turn 2- Tap *Bitterblossom*- Counter for 2.
Turn 3- Tap *Mulldrifter*- Counter for 2.
Turn 4- Tap *Chameleon Colossus- Counter for 2.
Ect ect. lol

I havn't been in this forum since it's induction when I played Fae at states last year.....and I'm going to have to agree w/ Shin here. Having the counterspell up for turn 2 is exactly what this deck needs, things like bitterblossom and vanquisher are solid turn 2 drops that are easily countered by broken ambitions and gives fae the tempo it needs to win games. That is if you dont hit w/ your thoughtsieze first but I do think flashfreeze, depending on what becomes popular is going to see more play in this deck and remove soul is an honorable mention for this deck as well..

having played broken ambitions in block, i have to say there weren't that many situations where a rune snag would of be that much better. not saying rune snag= broken ambitions (rune snag is way better). the clash is kinda nice also. i will miss ancestral visions, becouse ponder is not true card draw like visions was.

People are going to find that visions was a key card for this deck....I don't think ponder can really replace it. I'd just assume put thoughtsieze in MD now and roll with it.

Yeah, I am going to hate not having my Ancestral Visions <_<.

Though, since I'm (currently) playing 5c Faeries, it won't be hard to work Esper Charm into the deck somehow. It's not a perfect replacement, but it's better than nothing IMO.

Too bad Alara doesn't seem to offer us much, but I can't say I wasn't expecting it.

Anyway, I think I'd MD Ponder over AV, dig for that crazy T2 Bitterblossom, or just dig in general. Thoughtseize is good too, but it really feels like more of a SB card for the mirror or for the control MU's.

I don't know any Shadowmoor Faeries that have been used besides an occasional appearance in the Sideboard by Puppeteer's Clique ....

Point is, the decks that been placing in the competitive tourneys have not had many cards added to the deck after Morningtide besides Sunken Ruins.
