First off, thanks for looking at my list and thanks for any comments (#s in parenthesis next to card names indicate the number of W symbols they contribute to the board).
I feel like there's a lot of advantage to found from Springjack Shepherd creating mana out of nowhere - not to mention chump blockers (at least on ground)
Basic idea is to play some early beaters/threats, letting the W mana symbols build on the board. You won't be slowed down by playing your removal (O-Ring/Prison-Term) since they are permanents and add to your W symbol count for the big turn 4, when Shepherd and his goats come rambling in off the pasture.
By turn 4 you ought to have roughly 5 W symbols, 6 when Shepherd comes into play, allowing you to power out a fully 'turned on' 8/8 Divinity of Pride on turn 4, or a big Profane Command...or allowing you to feed little FoD all the goats he can eat - watch him grow!
I feel the Profane Command is much better that Mirror Entity in this deck. I find ME is a bit clunky and is such a large target, especially with all those goats dully staring at your opponent with those demonic rectangular pupils. The random ME is in there for testing really...but could easily be switched out for other stuff.
Alternatively have fun beating face with Light From Within. Don't forget that Springjack Pasture turns on your Reflecting Pools!
No SB yet, I'd like to develop the deck further. Thanks for commenting!
How do you feel about Glorious Anthem over Light? Currently, Finks, Knight, and Divinity benefit more from Light, but Anthem would let you make a swarm of 1/2 goats instead of 0/1, which could potentially kill creatures when chump blocking.
wow this looks like a really fun deck! i like it. maybe not super competitive but its fun!
here are my suggestions.
- take our the pools and put in mutavaults if you can afford them.
- remove the 2 profanes, 2 couldrons, 1 divinity, 3 flickerwisp, and add 3 mirrorweave, 4 stillmoon cavaliers, and maybe one more mirror entity or a reveillark? just for kicks. haha.
this will make your deck more alpha strike-ish, beat early with efficient creatures, make lots of goats, then alpha strike with mirrorweave/entity.
Thanks for the comments, here are my thoughts/conjectures:
How do you feel about Glorious Anthem over Light?
I think that while the idea of 1/2 Goat tokens is appealing I think that it's a mistake to invest too heavily in the Goat tokens as anything but chump blockers/mana accelerants. To create the goats in the first place you need favorable circumstances in that you need a reasonable board position to have enough W symbols. For that reason I think Favor From Within is better because in a vaccuum, when I play out a Knight of Meadowgrain with Light on the board I get a 4/4, while Anthem only gives me a 3/3, quite a different if you're coming back from a wrath or something.
You can drop the Reflecting Pools they are only good in multicolor.
I think the reflecting pools are actually quite key as they allow me to play a Profane Command out of nowhere - the pastures turn the Reflecting pools 'on.' It will also allow me to utilize my secret tech against Faeries - Squall Line! In that way it allows for more variety in the Sideboard, I could even play Mind Spring for some serious card draw.
If I had or could afford Mutavaults I would get them.
I suggest the 3-4 Mirror Entity (Wizened Cenn has a good synergy)
I think you could be right here but I've decided to use Profane Command as a 'win' card more than Mirror Entity(ME). ME wastes a turn sitting on the board and usually gets killed. Profane command is a built in two for one that could allow me to get back a lost Divinity of Pride which requires no further mana investment and will normally be beating for 8.
While pumping up a horde of goats sounds cool I think that strategy may fall flat re:board position, see above. That said, it's worth a try if this Profane Command idea doesn't work.
Wizened Cenn may be a wise inclusion over say Flickerwisp. That former bolsters my team and would work well with Mirrorweave while the latter removes blockers and resets the Shepherd.
- remove the 2 profanes, 2 couldrons, 1 divinity, 3 flickerwisp, and add 3 mirrorweave, 4 stillmoon cavaliers, and maybe one more mirror entity or a reveillark? just for kicks. haha.
All good suggestions. I think I will take out the Cauldrons but I'll replace them with Momentary Blink I think...that still allows for shenanigans with the Shepherd and makes the Flickerwisp really mean.
Thank-you all for your suggestions - this deck requires more playing to discover it's weaknesses! When I have a chance to play and post I'll let you know how it's going - I think it has a lot of potential.
I know you've explained the reasoning for using reflecting pool several times now, but I think using Fetid Heath instead would be a lot more effective. With reflecting pool you're relying on Springjack Pasture to enable the black mana. With Fetid Heath, all you need is a plains and you've already got the 2 black mana needed to activate Profane Command
The only advantage to using Reflecting Pool in this deck is if you want to splash other colors in the sideboard
I like the deck idea - but it seems like you're only splashing B for Profane Command?
Springjack Pasture is a card central to the theme, but I don't think you'd want to see this in the early game - maybe cut 1
Rustic Clachan - you're playing 12 Kithkins only, so most of the time it comes in tapped, and using it as a combat trick seems unnecessary for this build
I'd replace it with either Fetid Heath/Caves of Koilos to allow more reliable sources of black mana for your Profane.
Could also have Batwing Brume either maindeck or in the board for those aggro matchups.
You have black but not bitter blossom, that's crazy. Profane Command is cool because you can make opponent lose X life and bring back Shepherd from the grave. But it's still sorcery speed. I suggest you drop black completely. If you wanna splash for a finisher, I suggest you splash green or red instead. Squall Line is probably the best killer you can have in a Goat deck. It's like Profane Command, except you also kill all fliers and it's instant speed. And you don't lose life because you sacrificed some goats to play it's cost. Ex: You sac 7 goats. Gain 7 life and add 7 mana of any color. Use that 7 mana + what you have floating to deal 6-7 damage to all fliers and all players. You can even use that in response to Pyroclasm or Wrath of God. It's really cool. There's also Consume Spirit but I don't think it's standard anymore. For red there's: Titan's Revenge, Roar of The Crowd and Shared Animosity (that I find quite superior to both Nobilis of War, Coat of Arm and Glorious Anthem).
[/card]
If you really wanna go W/B then you have to add Bitter Blossom. And I personally think you would need lifegain but your list is different than mine and seems quite effective as it is. But as someone mentioned above. Making it WB just for Profane Command might not be a good idea. You could make it mono white and use Divinity of Pride as a Mirrorweave target. For lifegain, I suggest Soul Warden, Martyr of Sands.
I also have to agree with Zanam saying that Glorious Anthem is better than Light From Within in this kind of build. Glorious Anthem Pumps your goats. Tokens don't have mana symbols so they remain 0/1 with Light.
So if you don't hit one of the four Springjack Pastures, Profane Command is a dead card.... Seems risky to me. The deck could use Fetid Heath, to make sure that when you hit Profane, that you can actually play it. Also gives better access to black cards in the SB.

no mutavault, playing one on the first few turns means you cannot play avatar on turn 5
Reason I chose Crib Swap over Unmake was because the deck has a lot of nonbasics - and if we're tapped out and RDW plays Magus of the Moon we wouldn't be able to cast Unmake.
Anyway Beseech the Queen fetches whatever you need for the finisher.
Also seems like the deck will die horribly to UB Faeries or any deck packing counterspells.
And Restless Apparition provides another way to utilize excess mana from sacrificing the goats.
This deck plays basically like aggro - then you make goats. With the goats you can either sacrifice them to power up Profane Command or Restless Apparition. The life gain will power up your Divinity of Pride - if you haven't won yet.
Sideboard Discussion: Flame Javelin is to board in vs RDW - Magus of the Moon is a pain with this many nonbasics. And we can still cast it if they dont play the Magus. Batwing Brume is for the aggro matchups. Stillmoon Cavalier is against any deck that plays with white/black removal - ideal vs Kithkin Standard and Bitterblossom Faerie Macabre is for 'Lark while Wispmare is for annoying enchantments.

cloudgoat ranger combo this will add 3 1/1 kithkin token every time galepowder mage attacks ^^,

I just stared playing Goats and I think both Springjack Pasture and SpringJack Shepard are excellent cards... defiantly competitive.

I'm confused... where's your black mana for Profane Command?

Nobody wins.

I suggest you stay with black and add swamps and black lands so you can play Shriekmaw's. Also play Essence warden's to gain a lot of life and pump Divinity of pride faster.
Finaly,
Oh my god could goats become a competitive standard deck.
no mutavault, playing one on the first few turns means you cannot play avatar on turn 5
That why i´ll sugest that sprinjack pastures isn´t really great in this deck.
