MTG Salvation

I always like Spawnwrithe. His ability is one of the coolest ever, and if he gets a few hits in you're golden. So with that being said, I built a deck that wipes the way clean for my Spawnwrithe.

No Overrun for when you get four or more?

You definitely need Garruk and Mirrorweave. Your mana base is a little shaky...I'd cut Flame Javelin and Cryptic Command. Actually, I'd just cut red and go :symgu:.



To me it feels more like one of those Time Spiral Block decks. Mirrorweave is very versatile here; it can turn all your guys into Spawnwrites, Ohran Vipers, and Wall of Roots with damage on the stack. It acts as a fog by making their guys Birds or Walls and sometimes can just be a Wrath.

That looks like its a great build. But I don't think that Snapback is a good choice here. I would add another mirrorweave, too.

If you want to play red, it seems you're playing the wrong spells. For example, Fist of the Anvil on a Spawnwrith may lead to your original 'writh dying, but he'll do combat damage to player (trample) and you'll be one creature over them. Tower Above over Flame Javelin for the same reason (although in this case, the trample would be redundant: what you'll appreciate will be the lure+pump). Putting Lure plus creature pumping auras seems like the best removal available. If you input blue, use the cheap robe of mirrors or even protective bubble to prevent Writh being blasted off.

Venser's deck isn't bad, it just doesn't seem to be using Spawnwrith to it's full capabilities, which is what you seem to want. I'm sorry, but I'll have to say that your deck needs to be completely redone, with Spawnwrith serving as a threat your opponent immediately wants to block and with instant creature pumps to trade hits and make your opponent regret.

I originally wanted to go U/G only, but thought that those colors didnt pack enough removal to push Spawnwrite through. But I kinda like Venser's build - Mirrorweave seems like a card I overlooked which could really be a house here. I also agree that more pump spells should be added, but I still want to keep the U/G feeling of an aggro-control deck with decent counterspells.
