Blaming it all on his awesome drawing is pretty stupid. He's essentially playing a Rock deck... the entire point of the archetype is that every card you draw is a game-winner.
That is simply incorrect. Yes, all of your cards are solid, but they can't always be 100% perfect for the matchup(and exact situation) at hand. But that was the case here.

Yeah, but at the point where Gindy was drawing Commands, Garruks, etc, he could just as easily have drawn land or Llanowar Elves. There is some merit to what has been said. However, luck has a lot less to do with him winning than some people are saying, also.
Definitely, congrats to Ruess, too. He's piloted an unconventional list that turned out to be in fact nicely tweaked, from it's results. Kudos for his pilot skills, too.
And, well... Gindy got some godsent draws, yeah, but that doesn't take away his credit for being up there. He's definitely got the most out of it.
Congrats to all the top finalists. The merfolk deck has some questionable MD choices. It was obviously good but I'm still unsure about the MD Sowers and Vensers. Their mana cost seem to high most of the time.
for example, Id rather play the 4th MD Cryptic Command over a Sower or Venser.
Gindy definitely got the god draws in game 3, but that doesn't take anything away from him sweeping 3-0. What about when he perfectly played around Sage's Dousing for an entire game, not knowing if the card in his opponents hand was that (which it was.)
He got amazing draws in game three, but Merfolk have always lost to tons of removal. It was a good matchup.
I wonder why Randy kept on referring to Gindy's deck as "almost a rock" deck. It's pretty much a standard Elves build - lots of people play Chameleon Colossus in theirs.
Finally people can stop wailing about Faeries now and jump onto the Elves bandwagon. Guess I'll have to find another favourite deck again to avoid playing constant mirrors.
Another thing, Rues shouldn't have scooped Game 2 before giving Gindy a chance to not pay for his Slaughter Pact. I only noticed him putting a reminder for it in Game 3... so he still had a chance.

He had a reminder for game 2 as well. But yea, he still shoulda seen if he somehow forgot.

Yeah, in an even playing field games can take a long time. Notice how the players got like 10-15 turns during hollywood? Thats because both decks were tuned to deal with pressure. Some times the rush works, but against a good player they will know how to slow you down.
HAHAHA FAERIES DIDN'T WIN PT HOLLYWOOD THANK YOU GOD!!
Anyway I am really happy that Elves won the day. Hopefully now I don't have to hear stuckup elitest tards saying that if your not playing Faeries then your not playing a good deck. I just got so darned tired of that crap that I was about to just give up telling people that the deck isn't that great and that it can easily be beaten by any deck running more disruption, better control and instant speed removal.
Now I hope my points are crystal clear. Faeries may be a great deck but it ISN'T THE BEST!

Faeries is still the best deck dude. Luck and meta-gaming had a lot to do with the absence of faeries in the top 8 of PT Hollywood.
Shuuhei definitely made a couple of strange plays against Merfolk. I'm pretty sure he could have killed Sygg at one point, but oh well. His Elves deck didn't look amazing.

From a power stand point, Faeries is by far the most powerful deck in the format. Faeries par showing at hollywood can be explained by the fact that most Faerie players focused on winning the mirror rather than the Elf match-up. A decklist like Stan van der Velden's with maindeck thoughtseizes is very good for the faerie mirror, but less good vs Elves. There's that, and the fact that Elves is already a very solid deck with an okay faeries match-up already (most people had it at 50/50, maybe slightly in favor of Gaeries).
The resurgence of lark in combination with the fact that players will have less hate now may once again make Faeries the deck to play.
It must be nice to draw so well that you can just kill the guy giving your Colossus Islandwalk and still cruise to the win.

Congratulations, Gindy. You've earned it.
