Ravenous Rats causes immediate discard, and has been a tournament caliber card in the past. It can also be useful when combined with Profane Command and still be used to block/attack/whatever.
Augur of Skulls does EITHER the blocking or the discarding (although better than the Rats), but it can't do BOTH at the same time. If you need the Augur to block/attack, you can't get any discard out of it, and vice versa. Rats may be more versatile in that it attacks/blocks and causes discard all in one play.
In a dedicated discard deck, would you really need to choose between the two? Why not run both?
You can always block and regenerate it. Then sac it.
Which sometimes works. Ravenous Rats also manages to discard NOW, not a turn later.
I'm not saying one should be played over the other, just that all disadvantages and advantages should be weighed, and the Rats shouldn't be discounted - it is a quality card.
I personally don't run either in my build, but the Augur was in it pre-Shadowmoor.
And boy am I glad I picked up my BitterAwesomes. Their price just keeps jumping.
Yeah, I was lucky to get bitterawesome at ten dollars. Really solid card for this deck. Raveous rat does have advantages. But I think augur is generally better, even if it has to eat removal. I alos don't run either.
x4 Epochrasite :thumbsup::thumbsup: I would also run Dusk Urchins, as they can also stall and replace themselves. The win conditions look awesome.
3 terror/3 sudden death I am ok with. They kill things dead. The extra kill spells might buy you time against some decks (the time the urchins would buy you).
2 Sudden Spoiling MD... do you see a lot of G/W in your meta? If so, then I can see why you'd do that, but otherwise I can see some easy room for more Beseech the Queen or Profane Command. Even if you don't use the reanimation mode, "lose x life, and your creature gets -x/-x" is a strong play.
You may want to go 3 Deathmark 4 Gnomes, since that makes it easier to side out the terrors, and against RDW, you'd probably side out some of your kill spells for gnomes since they don't run many creatures worth killing (probably take out the sudden deaths... after awhile they don't kill Countryside Crusher and definitely don't touch Greater Gargadon... does anyone play Garg anymore?? :p).
Yeah, thanks for the response. I had profanes in there originally. But I had wanted to try some tricks against fae and elves. They are pretty good. But Profane seems like it is going to go back in.
My sideboard is just like yours except you switched around the gnomes with the deathmark. Coincident.
My meta is a little of everything. With Lark and RDW as the mainstream. With merfolk and fae growing in popularity, and literally replacing lark.
Looks good except for the 1 Urza's Factory. You won't need that card. Specially when you already got Bitterblossom. You got better things to spend 7 mana on IMO.

i got rid of the urza' factory and added one more swamp
should i get rid of the deserts too ? cause i use damnation to get rid of faeries

i never use desert
Desert works. If you haven't used it, you will. Don't rely on damnation most the time, they'll counter it and not over-extend into one. Good players know that is coming when they play us but Desert sits there and either waits to ping things for stops them from attacking for a few turns, turns we need to get a Demigod.... Korlash.... out.
@Beseech the Queen Talk, you need 3 at least, I run 3 and everytime I get it I seem to win because I'm searching for what I need to win. Good times. And I usually play it on turn 8 or 9 against faeries because they usually don't counter it in fear you'll drop a demigod if they do... so then when they don't you search for a second demigod and then they just screwed up big time. At this time there is usually one in the graveyard and one in my hand so now I have AT LEAST 2 coming out regardless of counters. I love Korlash but he isn't as effective anymore. Thats why I went my original idea Redcap Snap route, which works amazing I think it should be in this thread!
Korlash is overkill for me now. Atleast in my meta but my meta is very mixed so overall I don't think I'd put him back in. Now as Demigod rises in popularity I think more people will run things to counter act him, thats when I say I'm going to "Redcap Snap Threats" with Korlash so you still have power if they deal with Demigod.
Think about Murderous Redcap as a 4 of... If they all get played thats 8 damage, if they all persist that 4 damage, if they all get through thats 8 more and if they all get through after persist thats 4 more so they alone can do 24 damage now if they can't get through they can do 12. They is more then enough considering you're probably aiming for annoying creatures when you play them and if not you can throw it do the dome. He does both. Now to mention throw a hammer on them and people won't be happy... They'll kill it, it'll persist and you'll attach again. They'll have to kill it again. No one likes that. He is 2 for 1 all day long and thats damn good. But I'm not here to discuss Muderous Redcap he has proven he is good. Hell...I might go as far as saying he is better in todays standard then Korlash is. Plus he has so many ways you can abuse him outside of this deck... Korlash really doesn't he needs swamps or he is just average.
Well one thing about korlash is the acceleration you get from him, plus a lot of players start sweating when they see a 10/10 korlash trampling over.
But besides a hammer in his hand he does just sit there a lot and bog up the ground for them...
Redcap seems like an interesting card to test, allowing us MORE creature control and More CA. Might help against fae and merfolk more than korlash does.
ya, Haven't tested him yet, I am testing Tombstalker though, more fat with evasion. Most of the time he is down at least 3 mana by the time you want to play him, the potential for more discount looks promising.
@D3@D
No, after testing some, I found that stalker is not golden in this deck because in some games you will have nothing in the yard early on. Plus, after the first one there is no discount for the others......

i give up on it im back to MBC i did give up loxodon hammer i NEVER use it
Warhammer is OK. Not consistent, yet gamewinning. You pretty much kill everyone with bitterblossom + warhammer.

The lands look good.
4 Damnation, 4 Bitterawesome, 4 Tendrils. Awesome.

2 Loxodon Warhammer is ideal, imo.
What does the sb look like? And what is your meta like?
For a "generic" standard meta (tending to see all tier 1 decks and some tier 1.5 or lower occasionally), I think I would run:
4 Thoughtseize
3 Bottle Gnomes
4 Extirpate (or Faerie Macabre)
4 Deathmark
You may want to go 3 Deathmark 4 Gnomes, since that makes it easier to side out the terrors, and against RDW, you'd probably side out some of your kill spells for gnomes since they don't run many creatures worth killing (probably take out the sudden deaths... after awhile they don't kill Countryside Crusher and definitely don't touch Greater Gargadon... does anyone play Garg anymore?? :p).

Also, I've found that I usually can sustain myself on 3 Demigods, but 4 might be the right move. I'll test it, I guess.

I really don´t know!
I´m trying Ashenmoor Liege to turn my tokens bigger. i got a reg on next sunday and cant find the perfect list or at leat the most consistant one.
As for the perfect list thats what testing is for, otherwise you are just netdecking. Come up with your own list for your own meta......
