Even at 24 lands, I still have to BtQ for an Urborg or something turn 3. I might have to go to 25 lands, but I'm not sure what to cut.
Pickles was always a hard MU for this deck (as was Sonic Boom). [cardDemigod of Revenge[/card] makes the MU easier for us, and if you start seeing a lot of countering, more discard should be in the sb.
THe Project R/Reveillark combo has almost entirely disappeared from my meta, so I might take out the GY hate for more discard (Stupor orAugur of Skulls). I'm leaning toward Augur since it can be recurred with Profane.
The only way for mono black to death with anything other than creatures and life is to hit it before it gets into play. Guess how we do that?
On urchins, Them removing it means that you just baited a removal spell/counter. It attacking or blocking and dying means you replace it and mabey take a creature with it, and if it actually lives to attack 3 times means you get three cards.
Well i went up to FNM with a deck that was missing a BUNCHA stuff. I was able to do some last minute trades and got 4 Dusk urch, 4 deserts, 2 leech swamps. I got 0 demigods or 0 epochrosites, so i just ran 4 thoughtseizes md. So i signed up, got a crap rare in the free booster we get and we began.
Turn out was surprisingly good, like 29 ppl, which is great for t2 FNM.
The match ups...
Round 1 DORAN G/w/b
Game 1 he lost cuz i sudden death'd both his dorans after he blocked urchings (he played dorans back to back). He primaled commanded for colosus, i damnation and win w/ korlash.
Game 2 I sb in Sudden spoilings, it beats Cham colossus, i win with hammer.
Round 2 Faeries... ***Sidenote - so since the dude ALEX or whtva won 2 starcity tournaments ppl have been copying his list... and of course i knew ppl at my FNM would do that, and like 6 ppl showed up playing that SAME deck.
Game 1 - i win w/ blossom, korlash, thoughtsiezing.
Game2 - Sbed most of my sorceries for Terror and Stupor... Win with blossom, Granduring and Hammer... And card advantage.
Round 3 Faeries (what do you know...)
Game 1 I mull to 5, dude was crazy cutting my deck to no lands.... I put up a great fight, all comes down to him just countering all my serious spells, Playing Clique back to back upkeeps, so i scoop.
Game 2 I sb in same pkg, terr and Stup. I get mana screwed at 3 (again good cutting) and he overruns me eventually.
Ouch loss to fae... thats not very like mBC (atleast for me).
Round 4 G/R/w Enchanted Evening Wish.
Game 1 He opens up with finks and g/w liege, oringing and wrathing. I won with korlash i think
Game 2 I sb out bitterblossoms, cuz he runs ALOT of enchant destruction MD, so it was not usuful enough. He wished for dusk, i BTQ for thoughtseize, and used it... very key play! I got a good position on him, he was shaking during the match... mad nervous. He was in topdeck mode and i just played Warhmmer and swung in, and i thhoughtsiezed him again... i saw 2 Enchanted Evenings and a ***... so i took the ***, but on his turn he topdecked Patrician's Scorn, and BOOM all are gone.... but then i draw like 4 lands outta 6 turns, and was able to corrupt for 11+ !!!! eheh
Finals - The fae i lost to in round 3. When sitting down i told him its a grudge match!!!
Game 1 - I won with turn 2 bb, and lots of instant removal, Sudden death deff was good. Victory ;P
Game 2 - I keep an ok hand, get stuck on 3 lands... On turn 11-12 i have to Btq for a LAND... it resolved, i got desert... and on his turn he thoughtseizes me, and sees 3 Korlash, 2 Tenrals... he takes the tenrals
next turn i SOMEhow resolve korlash... I gradure twice... swing with korlash, kill him with the Lsawmp..
Yay we all split 58 boosters, which got me like 16 boosters... so i went 4-1 overall, but i had TONNA fun, no mistakes and i was focues... so Gnite More on this 2morow =)
Edit: Urzas factory was amazing in the Fae match ups, twice giving me the advantage of the "Draw - pass" phases.
Nice, congrats! I'm sorry guys, I haven't been able to sit down and tinker up a list. i'm in the middle of exam preps.
It seems though that MBC might be a good meta-call. We don't auto scoop to any decks at the top tier. If Faeries are going to be our MUs 65% of the time, maybe MD Thoughtseize would be a good idea again?
So I stayed alive 3 turns to win with Beseech the queen getting spoil at FNM tonight. The guy was going nuts. And just when I run out of case I get profane command for the game. Gotta love it.
That's why there are rules against cutting more than 7 times. They added that rule BECAUSE people would do that.
Count it, if they try to cut more than 7 times, you can call a judge. There should be some level of judge at every event.
Boy did I needed my judge tonight for Demigod... HOW DO THEY GET THERE OTHER DEMIGODS BACK WHEN I COUNTER IT?!??! Explained OVER AND OVER. IT DIDN'T MAKE IT TO PLAY!!!! I would just sit there ok he doesn't make it to play but maybe read the card?
I'm hopeing I can use that to my advantage tommorow at our regionals. So if they counter it before its ability goes on the stack, I still get the demigods right? We have a good judge, I just dont to look like the dumbass in an arguement
It will be interesting tomorrow how many people dont understand when to actually counter demigod, im sure i will come across a few people who will cry foul and have to call the judge over to explain the stack.
@Foil: yes you get your demigod back if they counter before the ability has resolved.
They have to say "I'm going to let the trigger resolve and then counter Demigod." Then if you have another in hand and you play it next turn they usually say "I'm going to let the trigger resolve and counter Demigod but I hate I can't stop the graveyard one from coming back so I think this card should be banned."
Then you laugh and say ok take 5.
I did it 2 times tonight, players who do not read cards or just counter because they like to feel cool and one person got very mad. "You know what I wanted to do, I wanted to counter it the way it doesn't come back" ... I say "I know you want to do that but if you don't play it right, you don't get to do that, I better you'll never waste two rune snags on it again!"
He didn't talk to me much after that expect to say GG after I dropped BB and just swarmed him in a few turns. (And I cast Scar on a BB token he had later to get demigod through... that really was the icing on the cake.) I'll never run Scar again but it was so original tonight I can't forget it.
The Demigod makes a big rules headache against noobs because explaining it to them is a pain. I've basically just stuck to the fact that if they don't say "Let the trigger resolve" then they didn't and their counters are fail. One guy at my FNM, who was not a noob, countered his opponent's Demigod without letting the trigger resolve, but he was kinda drunk last night while playing so... he has an excuse.
Anyways, some choices: I picked B/r because I love Void and Sedge Sliver but never get a chance to play them. I feel that defensively and offensively Sedge Sliver is better than Epochrasite, even when sharing the Dusk Urchins slot. I don't have a 4th Mind Stone because nobody in my entire city seems to have one to spare.
My lack of Damnation is bad, at most I can borrow two and I'd probably replace the Pyroclasms with them, depending. There's a lot of jank weenie in my meta so Pyroclasm is pretty gold to me. Might possibly take out Corrupt but it's been really good for me lately.
Void has been pretty fantastic for me, it's very good at ripping through people's hands and boards when played back to back. Even if your opponent only has one creature and you hit it, chances are you'll also hit a card in their hand AND get to see it. A downside is that it kills your own Mind Stones when played for 2.
Beseech the Queen has been great, although a lot of the time I find I'm tutoring for Urborg so that I can power up my Corrupts and Tendrils.
Dusk Urchins is amazing for cheap chumps or trades and card advantage.
Haven't had the chance to use Profane Command since I usually kill them first.
One problem I have is that a Raking Canopy stalls me pretty hard. I have no way of dealing with it and no Korlashes to attack with either. Given that I'm B/r I don't think I can afford to put the Korlashes in the deck, they'd be pretty weak, and I'm not sure what to take out for them.
And yeah, I sold my Bitterblossoms last week so... none of those.
@JodoYodo: nice thoughts, but better then piroclasm u should run Sulfurus Blast its the red damnation and it is Instant, great trick aggains merfolk and faries. Just can be good! Void is Anwsome as well!
on his turn he topdecked Patrician's Scorn, and BOOM all are gone.... but then i draw like 4 lands outta 6 turns, and was able to corrupt for 11+ !!!! eheh
How did you Corrupt for 11+ (or even cast the damn spell, for that matter) with only four lands?

I would, except for a few points:
1. For some reason now, nobody plays Faeries in my meta despite it being infested 4 months ago. Everyone just techs against them but nobody actually plays them...
2. Kithkin is surprisingly an annoying and common deck here since we get a lot of new people every week and they always bring some sort of weenie decks. Gaddock Teeg = Lose, and Sulfurous Blast can't kill it, so I have to make sure my deck has maindeck answers to it.
3. I'm already running it in my board along with Shadow Guildmage.
That's why there are rules against cutting more than 7 times. They added that rule BECAUSE people would do that.
Count it, if they try to cut more than 7 times, you can call a judge. There should be some level of judge at every event.
FNMs do not require a judge only a TO who should have working knowledge of the game, and access to the comp rules.
as for shuffling, please show me that rule.
Here's the wording from the DCI tournament Floor Rules:
21. Shuffling
Shuffling must be done so that the faces of the cards cannot be seen. Regardless of the method used to shuffle, players’ decks must be sufficiently randomized. Each time players shuffle their deck, they must present their deck to their opponent for additional shuffling and/or cutting. Players may request to have a Judge shuffle their cards rather than pass that duty to their opponent, this request will be honored at a Judge’s discretion. By presenting their decks to their opponents, players are stating that their decks are correct, legal, and sufficiently randomized.
After decks are presented and accepted, any player who does not believe his or her opponent has made a reasonable effort to sufficiently randomize his or her deck must notify a Judge. The Head Judge has final authority to determine whether a deck has been sufficiently randomized. The Head Judge also has the authority to determine if a player has used reasonable effort to randomize his or her deck. If the Head Judge believes that either the deck has not been sufficiently randomized or that a player has not made a reasonable effort to randomize his or her deck, the player will be subject to the appropriate provisions of the DCI Penalty Guidelines.
At Competitive and Professional level events players must always shuffle their opponents’ decks at the beginning of games. The Head Judge can mandate the shuffling of opponents’ decks at Regular Level Events as long as he or she announces this at the beginning of the tournament. If a shuffling effect takes place during gameplay, players may shuffle and must cut their opponents’ decks after the shuffling effect is completed.
Once players shuffle and/or cut their opponents’ decks, the cards are returned to their original owners. If the opponent has shuffled the player’s deck, that player may make one final cut.
If you're referring to how magicians and artists can perform "perfect" cuts to bring a sequenced deck to random and back to sequence - it doesn't work if the deck is already randomized. I would also question why someone with that particular skill would do so at the FNM-level where there little aside from few rating points, promos and a few boosters to be gained. but i digress - there's shady people everywhere.
Next time you post popular opinions, please word them in such a way that they're not infractable. Someone may be widely thought to be the dullest tool in the shed, but you can't publicly call him that, which as a mod I can neither confirm nor deny that I fervently believe he's a tool.
How did you Corrupt for 11+ (or even cast the damn spell, for that matter) with only four lands?
Do appoligize, that actually occured vs a fae player game 2 (round 2 i killed him with Corrupt for 11)... It was a lil late (2am) last night writting this so i was mistaken. I killed the G/R/w Enchanted Evening Wish player with profane for 5. I hit him with mutavault a few times, then topdecked Urborg, giving me 5 swamps. And i wish i had secret tech like that =)

Five Swamps still isn't enough for a Profane Command for five, but I know what you're getting at. You drew more land than he did and the reset went in your favor, not his.

I played this at my FNM to a 2-2 disappointing finish.
First round was my downfall. I played the only guy tonight that was playing Faeries.!? I thought I would win easily simply because the guy is coming back into Magic and won't play optimally. I make a mistake playing 2 Nameless Inversion on a Spellstutter Sprite when he casts Mistbind Clique, allowing him to Spellstutter one of them. I should have played Tendrils of Corruption, but I thought he had Rune Snag. I ended up still winning, thanks to Demigod. The second game is close, but he ends up winning. Game 3, I get stuck on 2 land for 8 or so turns, and by the time I rally (with Sudden Death), he barely wins. He suspended a first turn Ancestral Vision every game, but only played BitterAwesome the last game.
Second round, I beat a real rookie playing a UW Shadowmoor block deck. He played very well; he just didn't have any "money" cards and my removal on his enchanted creatures hurt too much.
Third round was very tough. I barely beat a BG midrange deck, having big untouchable creatures, Planeswalkers, manlands and powerful commands.
Fouth round, I may have been able to top 4 still. I play a guy who I haven't lost to (I think 6-0 or more). He barely beats me in a race with Chameleon Colossus because I don't draw Damnation or sideboarded Cashseize. His Doran deck ended up losing to Swans in the semifinals. The last game had me breaking 2 Mindstone after drawing trying to get a Damnation to save my life. I couldn't get it and broke my final Mindstone, not having mana to cast Damnation, but still didn't draw it.
Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
Yeah, Desert is certainly underrated. A pair of Deserts out makes most aggro players cringe a little, especially when you have an active Blossom to not only chump the damage, but add to the pinging.
The above list looks powerful, but it feels like BtQ is too powerful not to incorporate right now. It's unStutterable, and can fetch Sudden Deaths should you need to break out of a stalemate with Fae. It also fetches Damns and Tendrils for aggro, Warhammers for burn (god they hate those things right now- attach it to a Faeries, and they'll go out of the way to burn it before you swing. And you basically are now winning).
Either way, I'm still testing MBC (or variants, with small splashes of G, R, or U) really heavily, since it really does pack a BIG punch if it gets a chance.

I was thinking about taking Korlash out, splasing green and adding Tarmogoyf... worth it? Or is straight back still more power?
Right now its the same as my signature.

Actually im thinking playing this B/r:
3 Demigod of Revenge
4 Dusk Urchins
4 Korlarsh, Heir to Blackblade
4 Epochrasite
1 Ashenmoor Liege
Instants (7)
4 Suddend Death
2 Tendrils of Corruption
1 Sulfurus Blast
2 Damnation
2 Beseech the Queen
2 Corrupt
2 Profane Command
1 Void
Others (4)
3 Bitterblossom
1 Loxodn WarHammer
Lands (24)
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
3 Desert
4 Graven Cairns
15 Swamp
4 Thoughtsize
3 Bottle Gnomes
3 Sudden Spoiling
2 Sulfurus Blast
2 Extirpate
1 Damnation
As I dont splash red, testing this deck:
4 Demigod of Revenge
4 Dusk Urchins
4 Korlarsh, Heir to Blackblade
4 Epochrasite
Instants (7)
3 Suddend Death
2 Tendrils of Corruption
2 Terror
3 Damnation
2 Beseech the Queen
2 Corrupt
2 Profane Command
3 Bitterblossom
1 Loxodn WarHammer
Lands (24)
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 Desert
2 Scrying Shhets
16 Snow-Covered Swamp
4 Thoughtsize
3 Bottle Gnomes
3 Sudden Spoiling
2 Stupor
2 Extirpate
1 Loxodon Warhammer
Corrupt: Im a fan. Great finisher. Not going anywhere.
Warhammer: Not convinced, but as everyone is testing, so am I!
Tendrils: Maybe u guys are right, its a "must have" card. But I still thinking that, 4 manas for sometimes just kill a X/2 creature. hmmm
L-Swamp: Very serious consideration, because sometimes I needed just 1 more point to kill the Opp! Even if I like the Snow engine!
Ashenmoor Liege: Looks like very solid at this deck. Maybe just 1 copy on main and 1 side. It makes our faries bigger and our "haste"God 7/6
How did you Corrupt for 11+ (or even cast the damn spell, for that matter) with only four lands?

Once players shuffle and/or cut their opponents’ decks, the cards are returned to their original owners. If the opponent has shuffled the player’s deck, that player may make one final cut.
If you're referring to how magicians and artists can perform "perfect" cuts to bring a sequenced deck to random and back to sequence - it doesn't work if the deck is already randomized. I would also question why someone with that particular skill would do so at the FNM-level where there little aside from few rating points, promos and a few boosters to be gained. but i digress - there's shady people everywhere.
decks:
EDH - Riku, Xiahou, Konda, Azusa
modern - Past in Flames, Onmi-show
vintage - Drains, Oath
coup de grace:
Well, according to that, if you think he is cutting the lands to the bottom, I suppose you can call a judge to make sure.
Of course, according to that, every time You shuffle, he can shuffle. Pass it back and forth enough and you should be fine. Just don't take too long.

My deck list is...
23 Swamp
4 Mindstone
4 Korlash,
4 Demigod of Revenge
4 Dusk Urchins
2 Graveborn Muse
4 Damnation
4 Nameless Inversion
3 Sudden Death
3 Tendrils of Corruption
3 Profane Command
3 of the swamps will be Mutavault when I get them soon.
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/
Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander -
Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I hear.

Mutavault is not needed in MBC at all, I've learned this.
Sudden Death is sideboard material and BTQ is amazing.
I was thinking about taking Korlash out, splasing green and adding Tarmogoyf... worth it? Or is straight back still more power?
This is what I was looking at:
4 Demigod of Revenge
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Dusk Urchins
3 Damnation
2 Profane Command
4 Terror/Nameless
3 Tendrils of Corruption
3 Bitterblossom
3 Beseech the Queen
2 Loxdon Warhammers
4 Thoughtseize
4 Llanowar Wastes
2 Urborg
2 Forests
3 Desert
2 Terramorophic Expanse
4 Krosan Grip
4 Extirpate
4 Sudden Spoil
3 Stupor
