wow
i understand the combo but do you actually expect a 5 drop with stats like 2/4 to stay in play for a reasonable amount of time?
i know you could wish for whatever you like out of your board but
i would prefer if you really try to segregate the patrician scorn combo away and focus more on being a midrange deck with a possible combo of JOR + persist
thus maybe add in more removal
you won't live long against the aggro field of today without removal
You can make a competitive RDW with the cost of that manabase.
Spam warning. It doesn't really matter what you can buy with that mana base... Heck, I could take a girl out on a REALLY nice date for the price of those cards. Doesn't change the fact that this is the competitive forum, and people intend to design the best build that they can. -CrAzEd MiKe
GB Elves <-man I hate this deck, it has a 50/50 matchup against Tier 1/2 but loses to jank aggro most of the time. UB Faeries <-only reason it's good is because of all those people that's still playing 5CC. WB Tokens <-so boring, there's only 2 ways to play this deck. RB Blightning <-Autopilotting you to victory 0-2 drop.
???B Super Secret Tech <-dude, this thing is nuts! 90/10 against all matchups.
Trying to mix two combo decks together is a really bad idea due to consistancy issues. It would be like trying to play "Hulk Flash Tooth and Nail" and I have no idea how to explain how wrong that is....

Is that why the first list qualified in tokyo nationals?

Heck, that's like trying to combine the cephalid breakfast combo and the life combo into some sort of cephalid life deck... oh wait?
I'll give it the fact that this may have done well enough to place highly but the deck itself is pretty atrocious, the curve and the colors are just plain awful. If I wanted to spend a lot of money I would rather spend it on a good deck, not a tier 3 deck's landbase. The first deck posted has to play artifact accelerators to curve into 3 drops and a tapland on turn 3 (TOO SLOW). The second deck, with the dedicated wish package is too slow, and admittedly versatile, will roll over to decks that cast things that attack before turn 3. It may sound harsh, but it's true, and these decks have a very hard time against faeries (from experience), the spells cost a lot and don't do very much individually. Sometimes this deck just wins, early, or on a lategame topdeck, or in the case of the Enchanted wipes the board with persist guys on the field, but not very often because of how slow/fragile the combo is. It's sad to see this FUN deck (and from experience the deck is pretty fun to play when you aren't staring down a ferie deck), but I wouldn't play it if I wanted to top 8, or in a field full of faeries. And because the push of faeries the 420 pieces will probably rotate out of standard before it even has an opportunity to be viable. If you had to run this deck though (as I know some still will want to) I would probably some number of ronom unicorns to combat the bitterblossoms, shields of the oversoul, seismic assault, oblivion rings, manabarbs, and various other enchantments you should expect to see in the format or against this deck.
Sorry that was a bit of a ramble...Anyways here is a good list that I feel should have been on the first post. Created/Developed/Played by KeySam here it is:
Is that why the first list qualified in tokyo nationals?
Yeah. but that's Tokyo.... I'm not impressed with the Jank that has been flowing out of Japan this year at all.
@Psymunn; And that deck sucks hard core man. I can't count how many times I beat that deck with something as simple as MBA with Hatred on a Slayer with Boots.
Well I have been playing the second deck and really worked me out great, at the begining I wasnt sure how it worked well as Chapin says but I have won 2 fnm with it, the mana base is so consistent I was very surprised of it just saying but sometimes u have to try stuff first before u criticized them.
The second deck doesnt look that bad actually and just like Urza's Son said you shouldn't diss it until you atleast try it. The mana base isn't horrid it just looks horrid (just like Swans land base it looks horrible but it plays out nicely).
And the second deck isnt focusing on 2 combos, its still the Juniper+Repcap/Finks+Gargadon with Heartmender combo, only the other combo is there so that if it comes then it comes but it doesnt necessarily have to pull it off to win. The Enchanted+Scorn combo works really great with Gargadon anyways so I think it's well worth the space MD.
As for Xtruder most competitive decks are expensive, their land base alone is worth quite a bit (just look at faeries or Lark) and the rare-lands the second deck uses are cheap compared to what other decks use.
Probably still here because of the fact it made T8 in the tourny.
Other than criticisms any comments on improving the deck atleast?
The Tokyo list made a top 8. I personally believe that is the better list too. Has a lot more power behind it as well as just more cards that run smoothly together. The second list isn't bad, but there isn't just the raw power of cards the first list has.
The Chapins deck is the best one for me the only thing I changed to it was taking out 1 enchanted evening for one heartmender and worked really well also Im looking in the option for adding a monetary blink cuz the u got another weapon and is pretty cool for your redcap+juniper

It plays much like Mana Ramp.
another possibility for this archetype that hasn't really been explored: Mannequin (good with persist)
