Actually, in my personal opinion, he's one of the more brilliant minds this forum has to offer. He wasn't being negative, he was making a suggestion. And, by the way, he's right. Playing more 4 of's makes your deck more concise, and being more consistent while staying synergetic wins games. When you're more consistent, you learn what are the better plays for the deck, how often they happen, what you need to do in any given situation, and beyond that, you don't have to say "Oh, I wish I had _____" as often. My suggestion is, if you cannot take constructive criticism, then maybe you should head elsewhere. This forum is full of it, and from people like Neversober and other people worth their .02, you're getting the best you can get.

Well I mean Stephen has a good point also, I have been trying his list, and I never had one problem with it. Everything was consistent. I cannot really explain it better than that.
Not to be insulting, he might be one of the better minds, but I think in this case, trying something, rather than looking at it on paper is clearly a big difference.
and at...I guess Stephen? Try to tune it down a but, its cute you chose that for a nickname, but keep the antics to the professionals.
One thing that I noticed while playing against Big Mana is that if you don't get the turn 2 Wall of Roots, Red based aggro is tough.
I played the U/R Sligh deck from GP Krakow, and the third game, I played turn 2 Marauders and he didn't have the Wall. It seems like if a deck starts throwing burn to the face, you don't have much in the way of recovery. Am I wrong? Did the matchup not play out the way it was supposed to?
EDIT: Oh, and StephenColbert, ease up on the comments guy. I know that you aren't serious, and that the real Colbert does it on his show, but on these forums going too far constitutes flaming, and I would think someone just getting started on the site doesn't want to have a reputation as someone who flames (I almost said Flamer lolz).
I don't mean to backseat mod, but yeah, Neversober is one of the better Standard strategists on the site. He has given many solid and constructive comments out from what I've seen, and he just knows what he's talking about.

It's a great way to get in touch with me for trades, or just chattin'. Just don't stalk me please.
It also won States in Minnesota. From what I have seen, the deck accels really fast to drop big stuff. It plays Garruk and Siege Gang and wall to stop aggro and late game the deck stocks up on mana with the storage lands, and uses it to burn for a lot. Personally I don't think the deck is that great, but that's me.
I'm the kid that got 3rd at MN champs with lightning angel [non-blink] control. I lost to that piece of sh*t in the semifinals. Whichever one of us won was going to take the whole thing cause elves was a by. The fact of the matter is that the deck is god-awful, in terms of matchups. That entire night the guy didn't face a single turbo-fog matchup, which is lucksackery to say the least, seeing as how prevailent that archetype is in our region-there were like 10 turbo fog decks among 115 people, and they were facing the mirror! I strongly doubt that he played teachings, fairies, pickles, or anything good other than mark's deck in top 8. The fact of the matter is that this deck loses consistently to anything control-related with counters in it.
The fact of the matter is that this deck loses consistently to anything control-related with counters in it.
Nope it doesn't.
Sonic Boom needs to board in Draining Whelks to seal the game, but against Teachings, RG mana ramp has a great matchup due to a few factors.
- Any threat that is resolved - Garruk, Siege-Gang, Hostility, etc.
If it can just store counters, and attack a few turns with a Treetop Village (it doesn't even really need to RESOLVE anything) and maybe get a few points of incinerate damage in, it can finish the game with a resolved molten disaster (my friend plays with 3 of them main deck, I know some lists don't run as many, but they should).
Against life gain and bounce, the deck will have some problems, especially the UWR blink decks that are running avalanche riders, because it really needs fungal reaches and the fertile grounded lands + man lands to cast its big creatures.
Molten Disaster HAS to be a 3 of. No more and no less. The card is a clear MVP in the deck. Making it an instant win that can't be countered. Also, why aren't people play Serrated Arrows in the sideboard? That card is a key player against Skred Red. Without that card you are just asking to lose against that match up. It is the only thing that will kill Stuffy Doll.
EDIT: I forgot to ask this, why are people NOT playing Dead / Gone for when they face Greater Gargadon? I have seen so many bad builds of this deck it isn't funny.

Ok. You're the one that played a janky mana base and blaze's over disintegrates and you're calling his deck bad? I watched you lucksack vs. Eric Hawkins to win, and it's absolutely ridiculous that you didn't get mana screwed all day.
Fact of the matter is that you can't say his deck sucks when it won, and you probably shouldn't have made t8. There were ALOT of people that didn't play agains turbo fog all day. At reg's when I 6-2'd with pox I didn't play against Dredge or dragonstorm all day. Stuff happens.
Of course he didn't play against a good deck beside Hinsz's and PAt's R/W deck, he played against your deck!
This deck seems to be at a slight disadvantage vs UB mannequin.
I played this deck in a recent city champs with the deck mostly similar to GP krakow.
I removed 1 maindeck disintegrate for a main deck molten disaster.
My side board was
3 disintegrates for epocrisites
3 loxodon warhammer
3 seal of primordium
3 dead \\ gone
3 (new green hurricane)
1st round played U/R sligh -- won 2-1
2nd round destroyed blink -- 2-0
3rd round destroyed u/w merfolk -- 2-0
finals lost to U/B mannequin 0--2
I am amazed at how fast and aggressive this deck is, but I was surprised by the mannequin matchup.
I almost put in wild ricochets for Profane command.
any tips on how to beat the mannequin deck?

What's this? 3 RG Mana ramp (ish) decks in the 5-0 slots? I thought this deck couldn't beat counterspells?

The two T8 lists were Snow Control. They aren't the same as this deck... and are slightly better, in almost every way. Still, they of course look similar. The core idea was fine, but the whole idea of just ramping up mana FTW wasn't enough to actually...well, win all the time.
Now, it's true - no one is playing counterspells for the most part. Wafo-Tapa is apparently playing Teachings, which means at least HE is showing blue some love. We'll wait and see. Sunday is a ways away at this point.

Well it seems this deck can't beat the storm decks that are popping up.
Also the 5-0 slot are snow control and not mana ramp, there's a big difference.
I think this deck is dying since it seems a lot of people are converting to r/g snow.
@BotWizo: how are you playing the matchups. The disintegrates in your sideboard seem great against them. You don't have to only target epochrasite just block them with your wall. Instead remove their mulldrifters or infiltrators from the game.
um, pardon my apparent nooby-ness, but what makes RG big mana a bad matchup for the dragonstorm deck heezy and co. played at worlds? I dont think the combo could easily be stopped by this deck. Is it that this deck can win before they combo out?

Well mwonvuli acid-moss can slow them down. Maybe try Primal Command as well. But yeah, I dont think RG ramp has a good MU against the dragonstorm deck.

I played HRF last night at FNM, and I went off both games before he (the RG Snow Control player) hit four lands. I was dealt a total of 4 damage between the two games.
So, no...in fact, this deck has a horrible MU against HRF. I'd recommend Riftsweeper and Krosan Grip in the SB to improve the MU, but I don't know how much it'll help. Oh, and Pithing Needle too, although I'm sure that's obvious.

what about an accel primal command? gain 7 life and return the storage land to the top of the deck sounds good to me agiainst storm.
My friends skred red build with green splash beat HRF in 2 games last night. He just Ancient Grudge'd his Blooms during his upkeep.
The deck CAN win, it's just hard. I think HRF will be bad in about 3 weeks once people SBing for it. The deck has NO protection at all, and has a tough time with counters.
it doesnt need to be good in three weeks...it is good now...thats whats great about it...no one was prepared for it...any deck gets weaker once people know how to play against it....

Actually a good deck can be good consistently. I KNOW that it preformed well because no one expected it so there was no hate.
It's the same thing as if there was a meta filled with 30 Mono blue decks will all counterspells, and someone brouht mono white kithkin when there was no wraths. Eventually people will put wraths in their decks and the kithkin deck will be bad.
The deck IS preforming well now, but as I said before, it will just fall apart when peopl dedicate 4 or 5 slots in the board for it.
