I bought the Tezzeret "Master of Metal" deck early this year when some of my friends and I got back into Magic. I love playing with artifacts and I've had a lot of fun with the deck.
I've recently tried to make it standard legal since getting more into the competitive part of playing Magic. I have a Temur Energy deck that's a lot of fun to play with, but I don't like feeling like I jumped on the band wagon (even though it's a fun deck to play with)
My heart lies with Tezzeret and the artifacts, so I really want to make this deck work in standard.
So this is what my deck currently looks like (hope this deck thing works first try)
Main win condition is having a turn 3 ornithopter with Tezzeret's Touch on it swinging in for 5. Adding a scorpion god obviously helps too.
A few things I'll immediately swap out are the three heart of Kiran. I pulled them in boosters and love the card, but it just doesn't really work in this deck.
I'm going to swap one out with a Scarab God and the other two for either two more Hostage Takers, 2 more essence scatter or two aethersphere harvesters.
Also, swap the three Walk the Plank for a full Fatal Push playset. I do like the unconditional removal though (even if it's at sorcery speed)
Sideboard is stuff like, 4 Gifted Aetherborn to combat Bristling Hydras, definitely the 2 aetherspehre harvesters (if I don't main board them) 4 duress, 2 or 4 negate, 2 Lost Legacy (because I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate approach decks....) 1 Gonti against temur energy, 2 Yahenni's Expertise and maybe one Bontu's last recokoning because I really miss having boardwipes in my Temur deck.
I'm kinda thinking about also adding 4 Dive Down somewhere, because it's like a blue Blossoming Defense which I loved in my B/G constrictor deck.
Maybe some walking ballista? I have four I can use from my constrictor deck.
Please let me know what you think. I really want to make this deck work. I can tell there's something missing, but it's hard for me to point out what I need other than what I've already written in this thread.
What are you searching with from trophy mage?
Also if youre going to run 4 touch i would add some value artifacts like servo schematic or metalworker puzzleknot so when they return to hand after they kill it you replay and draw another card or make more servos to fuel improvise on herald and battle

I'm using the trophy mage to dig for Ornithopters. I know they're quite vulnerable to shock, abrade and fatal push, but it's pretty devastating.
I never thought about adding the servo schematic, that does seem like pretty good value. I got great use out of them in my aetherborn tribal deck.
I wish Thopter Spy Network was standard legal hehe
Card draw is definitely a problem in the deck, so some puzzleknots or servo schematics could help if I also added another reverse engineer.
What would you cut from the deck to make room for them?
I've tweaked the deck a bit more since making the op, I'm quite busy today, but I'll add my changes asap. Still not sure if I should run a full set of Hostage Takers and a Scarab God to replace the three Heart of Kiran. I'm definitely using one Scarab god though.
Honestly, the thing that worries me the most about this deck is card draw and having enough removal or stuff to protect my creatures. I really miss having blossoming defense from my constrictor deck to save my creatures hehe. I love that card.
Trophy mage can only search cards with cmc 3. So the only target you would have is the simulacrum.
I think my main criticism is that youre half way on improvise half way on ub control.
Scarab god goes really well with marionette master. Animating him as a 4/4 then hes fabricate triggers making him an 8/8, thats bigger than carnage tyrant. And its a solid strategy in artifact decks.

Yeah, I can see it's not enough control or improvise to really be good. I just really like the idea of having an artifact deck that kicks ass. Artifacts are my thing hehe.
Oh man.... I feel like such an idiot that I've been miss reading the Trophy Mage all this time... good thing I've never used it in a competitive match and only with my friends at home.
I guess I'll be taking the two of them out. That actually helps me out in a way though... It'll make room for some of the other stuff I want to put in.
