Okay earlier today I was playing against a guy on MWS. He was playing some GWBNantuko Husk deck which I passed off as some rogue build until I saw something pretty awesome that he managed to pull off. This guy managed to "break" persist by using only three cards.
When Redcap comes into play, have it target itself. It dies, comes back, counters cancel, deals two damage to itself, comes back, etc, etc, etc. All the while, the Ranger gets.... huge.
So once you have your 1000000/1000002 Ranger, either attack with it... or Rite of Consumption.
this combo has been raised and brought down numerous times. one spot removal spell kills the combo, and a deck built around it would have a hard time figuring out what else to do in order to survive.
Couldn't you just use one of the Morningtide +1/+1 counter "Lords" to persist endlessly? That would have a lot more synergy if you couldn't pull off the combo.
The problem I see with this style deck is you don't have any other option besides the named creatures. I can't think of another card you can sac to, with no other cost, other then husk, and no other card would remove the -1/-1 counter other then the Druid. That's the real problem with the deck. It could easily win turn 4 with a bird or elf, but the chances of drawing a Juniper Order Ranger, Nantuko Husk, and Murderous Redcap is pretty slim. Could add in Beseech the Queen. Still not very good chance of getting all 3 though. If something else with 1 of the abilities would come out soon then it may work.
Could use 1 of the wardens to gain life like Project X did to gain the life. In which case any of the Presist guys would work. Use the Goblin Enchantment to kill opp off. That's really not needed because the only goblin Presist worth playing would already be able to do that part. Still wouldn't work though. Any counter spell or removal on the Juniper Order Ranger, orNantuko Husk would kill this deck off.
Saffi Eriksdotter and Glittering Wish are also on color and could help. Summoner's Pact could get you the piece that you need (except Husk) immediately.

Hey, you. Yes, you reading this sig. Get off your computer, go find a copy of Skies of Arcadia: Legends and play it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
I think that a deck that runs the combo as a side theme / finisher could do really well. That’s pretty much what project x was last year, an excellent midrange deck that rarely played the combo yet still comboed off enough that your opponent has to sideboard against you. To be honest I think that an updated GBW project X deck would be a very successful deck. If we have use murderous redcap and Juniper order ranger, glittering wish will do exactly the same thing it did for project X a year ago, in fact, I think that the deck resembles project X so closely that I would honestly call it the same thing. Essentially we have all the same card functions, they just go by different names. We still have soul / essence warden, a two piece combo, two tutors, draw, and something pretty dang close to loxadon hierarch. All we really need to do is adapt it to the new metagame.

When I see this combo, I see it with some reanimation backup in the form of Makeshift Mannequin for the druid/husk.

So, basically we have a 3-color, two-card infinite power combo? I see no reason why this wouldn't have a shot at being competitive. It's a two-card combo that wins games.
Makeshift Mannequin would allow it to be instant-speed, as would the Husk or anything else that lets the Redcap enter or leave play at instant-speed. I see power here.

I don't understand why this deck needs to play combo. It can win the freaking game with an army of nearly immortal creatures and a pumped ranger... who cares about infinite?
Glittering Wish, Juniper Order Ranger, Kitchen Finks, Safehold Elite, Heartmender, Shield of the Oversoul (keeps ranger alive), Rhys the Redeemed (iffy on this one), Harmonize, Oblivion Ring, Mercy Killing, Saffi Eriksdotter.
Add a wish sideboard using things like worldpurge, elvish hexhunter, mercy killing, the x life gain card, vexing shusher and mystic enforcer and you have yourself a perfectly legitimate W/G deck.
No need to make it unstable by adding colours and pointless combo pieces + tutors.
I have played too many people on MWS that have no idea about the canceling out rule.

All of this still doesn't make Juniper Order anywhere near good. -_- And Gargadon is better than Husk, despite not having that "I WIN NOW" aspect. More efficient, friendlier colors, and more resilient to removal.

Use Safehold Elite for your persist creature or one of your persist creatures and you got a decent deck!

Removed cancelled out same difference.
Not really, because they don't come back if they have a -1/-1 counter on them...
