I've always loved alt win-cons in Magic, so I had to put together a list for Mechanized Production. I figure the fastest way to 8 of the same artifact is either Servo tokens, or Clue tokens. Servos may be the right way to go, but I haven't put a list together for it yet. This is an early draft for a Clue build.
The idea here is to use repeatable investigate triggers - Tracker and Trail - to passively generate clues while pulling all the land out of your deck. Vessel and Reverse Engineering make up the draw spells, along with all the extra clues. Sigarda's Aid lets you flash in Production at the end of their turn.
I'm interested in any ideas people have for this card, this thread isn't just for discussion of the Clue version.
This was my first crack at a clue build, it rapidly falls back on boarding out the alt win con and boarding in more traditional stuff like Gideon etc. After the ban list announcements today it may need a few changes, as there are dedicated cards to handle Copter and Emmy in the main and side.
As soon as I saw Mechanized Production, I knew I wanted to build a clue deck around it. But the two things I'm hung up on:
- UG or Bant?
- Win-con(s) aside from Production? Just beat them down with Tireless Trackers?
I had a gimmicky Temur Cluestorm deck a while back, with Ghirapur Aether Grid as a win-con (it wasn't good), so I currently have a UG clues shell ready to go... I just don't know what direction I should take it, whether to add white, what else I need, etc.
If this tells you anything, I've tested maybe 15-20 games with it and never managed to pull out a win with Mechanized Production. It's always a control/beat down win, every single time. The closest I managed was with an absolutely stupid draw with 3 Tireless Tracker on the board and an Evolving Wilds, and that was 6 clues total because I had to burn previous ones hunting for pieces. I'm sure there's a consistent way of making this work, I just don't think I've got the level of expertise or time testing in order to figure it out.
What about trying UB, using Trail of Evidence in a Instant/Sorcery heavy deck with Tezzeret as a win con transforming your clues or etherium cells at 5/5. You could also use all clues and cells for improvise. Confirm Suspicions has great synergy going this rute also.
If you want to go full clue plan, you could always use not so optimal cards like Jace's Scrutiny, Press for Answers or even Erdwal Illuminator (being a creature I don't think it would last long)
Pack the rest of the deck with card draw and removal and maybe there is a deck there
I think people are expecting a lot out of this card when it's a lot harder to get eight clues onto the field than they believe.
I could see panharmonicon servos maybe leading to an explosive win.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I sometimes wonder if people are just getting distracted by living the Clue token dream with Mechanized Production. If you put Mechanized Production on something like Metalspinner's Puzzleknot (or even better Prophetic Prism) you get your own Standard Legal Phyrexian Arena that eventually wins you the game. But getting a one cost extra Phyrexian Arena that gains you an additional mana rock each turn to help with Improvise seems good enough even if you ignore the section about winning the game. Thoughts?
Yeah, you're making a good point there. I was so caught up in "lol I can win the game with a cluestorm" that I didn't even think about putting it on other artifacts. I like the idea of putting it in a Panharmonicon deck - both to copy Pan and to copy things that trigger off ETB (imagine a Verdurous Gearhulk every turn... with double triggers). I think I'd still want to build a deck around Production even if it didn't have the "you win the game" part at all.
I already have a 5-color Panharmonicon deck (based on SaffronOlive's), I might see if Mechanized Production would fit well in it, probably turning it into Bant; black/red are only in there for the black and red Gearhulks and Bring to Light, but I could see myself dropping BtL for Mechanized Production and then replaced those two gearhulks with something else (probably just more green/white/blue gearhulks).
Even without the alternate win clause the card let's you bring a copy of any artifact. It could go on a scrap trawler or chief of the foundry and still be good.
