I recently just started playing this deck, and I got to say I absolutely love it, it's amazing. I sidelined my fae deck for a while for this. It's so much fun molten disastering for 16 points of damage with a stuffy in play, and wiping the entire board hahahaha. I just took won my fnm with it last night, beating out R/G aggro, guile dot deck, and a crappy u/b build, as well as juuuuust eeking out vs u/b mannequin, thats a very very tough matchup because they have just overwhelming CA. I don't know if it makes sense to kill their creatures at all.....anyone have more info on the matchup?
It played fine, although it was sooo boring. I mean, turn 4 Hostility off of Coalition Relic is fine and dandy, Molten Disaster for 5 the turn after is fine too, but geez... I played against Teachings twice, the mirror match twice, RG Big Mana, GB Elves, and Mannequin. It was scary consistent if I didn't have a fast clock on me, and I had plenty of late-game gas with Scrying Sheets and 28 snow permanents.
There are a few changes I would make though, Stalking Yeti was pretty bad for me all day. I would much rather have 4 Phyrexian Ironfoots against aggro. Unlike Phyrexian Ironfoot, Stalking Yeti is horrible weak against control decks, and is worse than horrible in the mirror. I would actually opt for Epochrasite over Ironfoot, but I don't want to hurt the snow-count too much. Also, I played the one-of Mind Stone because I couldn't find a 3rd Coalition Relic. I definately wouldn't play the mind stone again.
And on one last note, Dead // Gone is a house in the mirror. Twice my opponent has won the game with Gone, when he had absolutley no right to win. The first time he Gone'd my Hostility so he didn't die after a Molten Disaster took him down to five, and the second time he Gone'd my Stuffy with a lethal Skred on the stack. I would definately play it as a four-of if you expect to play the mirror.
Overall, if I were to play the deck again these are the changes I would make:

I don't think razormane is a good answer to UB mannequin coming in out of the SB, they SB in whelks and just devestate us with it. Turn 4 they are welkin' and you havn't even dropped your razormane, razormane seems like it doesn't have a home in this deck to me, you can't rely on scrying sheets to get you the cards you need to pitch to it, I think that's a hokey idea. Also they have a healthy amount of bounce in that deck, with the vensers and cloudskates it's a very very tough deck, now I don't know how much you've gone up against this deck Jhoria but it's a gross matchup for us. Also if you didn't know already , I've defected to Mono Red Snow , burn the fae to the ground with sulfurous blast!
The version I may run this friday given i can get the right cards. It only really has issues with Faeries and mannequin if they have a really good game/draws.
Now, I'm the first person to normally say Browbeat is garbage. Really, I am. However I feel this is one of the very very few decks able to successfully use Browbeat. If anything, I'm just testing it.
The deck has great results against control, etc. Decent match up vs aggro. It only really has problems with decks like faeries.
Against Sonic Boom: This deck almost scoops to Skred Red. Honestly, play Sulfur Elemental, beat a few times, charge your storage lands, Molten Disaster into game 2.
Against Pickles: See above except you're going to need more removal and be careful not to tap out until you're ready to win.
Generic Aggro: Throw down some blockers, burn out their dudes. If they get you at a lower life than them, it may be best to roll out a stuffy doll before using Molten Disaster.
Mannequin: Save your targeted burn for the flyers, drop down some blockers. Don't even bother with Stuffy doll. Most Mannequin decks pack enough -1/-1 cards to negate him. Obviously game two you side him out for something a little more useful.
Etc.
Honestly, as much as I like Skred, the card honestly ends up being removal more often then stuffy doll fodder. Molten disaster ends up being the big killer.
As for the sideboard, I'm going into an unknown meta so it may end up containing Guerrilla Tactics or Dodecapod if Discard becomes an issue.
For the Sonic Boom matchup, I'd like to add that Detritivore out of board stops Urza's Factory. Not game-breaking, but a better use of the slots than something like Stalking Yeti (if anyone still runs that).
What are the thoughts about Pyroclasm vs. Sulfurous Blast? Pyroclasm wrecks Faeries, of course, which I've found is normally a tough matchup. Sulfurous Blast does more damage and can be played at instant speed (though not both at once). The mana costs aren't significant factors, as you'll rarely want to Pyroclasm on turn 2 and this deck has more than enough mana. Sulfurous Blast also damages players, which is both good and bad. It's good if you're running Hostility, but bad if you're facing aggro. I'm currently running Blast (though considering switching), and I'll admit I've gotten into situations at least once where I need a board sweeper, but can't cast a Blast in hand because I'm at a low life total.
Blaze should obviously be Disintegrate, I just haven't shelled out the tickets to make the switch yet. The sideboard needs the most work. I'd probably include at least two Pithing Needle if they weren't so expensive. I'll probably get some eventually.
Coalition Relic and Hostility have both been working out very well so far. Chandra hasn't been doing much, though I haven't drawn her a lot.
I feel that this gives me a bonus to whatever matchup I might face. My maindeck is focused on winning as fast as possible game 1. Then I can adjust the deck to whatever deck I am facing. Any thoughts?
stalking yeti working for you champion? they seem underwhelming to me especially with out the doll. playing. pyroclasm on the sb could help for the faerie's with that and the sulfurous blasts you should be ok.
oh and why no martyr of ashes this card is great vs any form of aggro and it makes elf match up easy(i know its not a hard match up but its better then yeti imo) with that plus molten plus blast

Kill a creature get a 3/3 to win with. Sounds good to me. It doesn't work with Stuff Doll because its target creature an opponent controls.

Martyr of Ashes was originally in the build but after having played it I found it not to be needed. More often than not it was just a 1/1. However...if Elves become a DtB in my area I will probably consider adding it.
i found martyr to always be subpar because there's so many artifacts in the deck. imo.
but i use 4x epoc, 4x ironfoot, 3x relic, 2x hearts. but mannequin hates me
i'm basically running iamchampions hostility build without yetis. and i run pyroclasm instead of blast. also another reason martyr isn't that good for me. but that's my meta.
i found martyr to always be subpar because there's so many artifacts in the deck. imo.
That and because This is the type of deck where giving away information can cost you the game. You don't want your opponent to know that you have that second Skred or that you have another Hostility that your opponent will have to deal with should that remove this one. I also tend to carry very few spells in hand when facing decks that Martyr of Ashes would be relevant.
i'm basically running iamchampions hostility build without yetis. and i run pyroclasm instead of blast. also another reason martyr isn't that good for me. but that's my meta.
The biggest reason why I don't use Pyroclasm is because of Spellstutter Sprite. The main reason that you will need to clean the board is against faeries. Every other deck can be managed through Phyrexian Ironfoot and trading burn spells for creatures 1 for 1. Against faeries we don't really have any defense. The only time that we would ever play Pyroclasm is to clear a minimum of 2 creatures...that puts you well within the range of Spellstutter Sprite to make you look silly. Thats why I run Sulfurous Blast. It costs a little more but it is an instant and it costs enough to get by Spellstutter Sprite.
As for Stalking Yeti...I highly recommend trying him out. This play has happend in multiple games for me.
Its the late game and both of us have exhausted many of our resources and tricks. I just cast a board sweeping Molten Disaster. I drop Stalking Yeti and just wait for my opponent to drop a threat. I have 7 mana by now so I bounce and recast keeping his board clear while I build up answers in my hand.
He is an amazing card that you must play with to understand the power. You don't want to run 4...but 2-3 seems right for me. Amazing card. I highly recommend it...and lets not forget that he is snow.
I'm not a huge fan of using the Yeti in this deck and I also see some weaknesses against flying creatures through the mass removal - as such I've been running the following with quite a bit of success:
Ashling the Pilgrim.
I know it's 1R for a 1/1, but it satisfies all my other criteria, it can beat quite effectively if I'm prepared to drop some mana into it in my opponents turn. Also when she goes boom she hits all critters and players, like playing another molten disaster.
At the moment I'm running 3 in the deck and finding it pretty strong . . . thoughts?
Beardy
i was thinking about running ashling as well
but waiting for 6-8 mana before dropping him in seems to slow to me
as for me, ive switched from hostility to hellkite. that card is unreal, and yes i am now running epochrasite, because its just that good. yeti though still seems horrendous to me, esp. against the mirror match (stuffy deals you 3). also its 4 mana for a 3/3. id rather tap out like that for a blast IMO.
im going to post a new deck list in a day or so after i do more testing. and imsorry to say this as well, razormane masticore is not good in the sb. esp. vs mannequin.....it just gets popped back to your hand.
one thing i also noticed after playing this deck is that the hammer is a big problem for it. since then, im going for a splash of green and sb'ing ancient grudge. the rock gets too close for comfort in this deck, esp. when a choice card gets removed from your hand with thought seize. if you run just 3x grudges in the sb though, thats bout as good as 6 artifact bust cards. anyway, pithing needle is great but doesnt really do anything for me as usually 2nd game there is almost always an artifact hate spell my opponent sb's in. pithing usually gets busted.

NYC DARK KNIGHTS cred to perv 90210 for the incredible sig.
As sick as this may sound, I might want to actually try out stalking yeti and see if he's good, it seems like he kills alot of pesty creatures, and reuseable burn in this deck seems really really good to me, I mean he gets sided out vs another deck with burn like r/g but he could be good, imagine him coming in, killing finkel, pop him, then come back in, kill clouldskate, pop him, kill venser, not to mention he can kill any of the mannequin'd creatures immediatly. Yeti just might not be THAT bad, I'm going to give him a whirl and see what he can do. If you could pull him back at instant speed he'd be broken.
yeti though still seems horrendous to me, esp. against the mirror match (stuffy deals you 3). also its 4 mana for a 3/3. id rather tap out like that for a blast IMO.
You are forgeting that he kills a creature when he comes into play. That means 2 for 1. On top of that his ability is reusable. I am failing to see how this is horrendous. Lets also not forget that he ups your snow count and can be drawn off Scrying Sheets.
Yeti is very good, repeatable burn is very hard to deal with.
He's excellent against Mannequin and some of the other midrange decks, as well as after you've stabilized against Elves and the other aggro decks.
Now i'm seeing so many people suggesting cards left and right, and I'm a little bit confused about what's better and what's not. These are the cards under the spotlight:
Are those cards worth to be in my deck? Instead of what?
I know many of you are saying "Hey dude take that Doll outta here!" but I'm so in love with that card, i think is one of the best defensive guy in Standard.
Hopefully this will help you.
Coalition Relic - Awesome acceleration. This allows for a turn 4 Hosility and can assist in pulling out your higher cc cards much faster. This card is amazing.
Stalking Yeti - Kill a creature on CIP while leaving you with a 3/3 body. On top of this you can reuse his ability to pick off problem creatures. He helps with Skred and can be pulled off the top of your library with Scrying Sheets. The question shouldn't be should I I play him...it should be how many of these should I play. I like 3 in the main deck. 4 is to many but 3 is just right.
Epochrasite - This card is a personal preference. I really like it because you punich your opponent for killing it. Many times it will go unblocked for several turns netting you 4-5 damage. The card is a great 2 drop. Again I like him as a 3 of in the main deck.
Ancient Grudge - I don't like this card in this environment. Really the only target that it hits that hurts us is Loxodon Warhammer. Life gain is a pain for us. This looks much nicer in the side board as Krosan Grip.
What you need to focus on in your deck is what your strengths and weaknesses are. Your deck has pretty much no chance against faeries. That is probably the worst matchup for us...but you really don't have anything to stop them. Sulfurous Blast is the key here. Spot removal won't work because of Scion of Oona and Spellstutter Sprite. What you need to do is bait your opponent to tapping out. I usually do this by trying to kill off Scion of Oona. Then cast Sulfurous Blast. Don't forget to do this on your opponents turn so the mana that they tap will still be tapped on your turn. Play to your opponents weaknesses also.
I have done a lot of testing with this deck. If you want to check my list out its post 197. I have put a lot of time into the development of the deck and I have very few weaknesses. Give it a shot and make some adjustments as you see fit. Remember that this can be played as a Draw Go deck. Against anything with Islands in it...it's best to play Draw Go.
I know many of you are saying "Hey dude take that Doll outta here!" but I'm so in love with that card, i think is one of the best defensive guy in Standard.
He costs 5 and requires situations / additional cards to do anything. I will admit that he has a place...I found that place to be in my sideboard. Certain matchups he is good in...but far more he is inferior to Hostility. I am not trying to incite a card debate war...in my testing I have found this to be true. I really wanted Stuffy Doll to be the go to card but...he just can't fill the pants of Hostility.
And for those who still dont know how to handle Sonic Boom without Akroma, Angel of Fury.

I took down FNM yesterday by hellfire and brimstone with my newly created mono red snow. YETI WAS INCREDIBLE. I was running 2x in my build and whenever I had him , he pretty much kicked ass. I love nuggin' kithkins for 3. Anyways my matchups:
The Rock 2-1 (thoughseize hurts, but we can overcome, a well timed hellkite smashed him)
Kithkin Beats 2-0 (yeti was really good here)
Mono Green haste 2-1 (yeti was really good here)
Mono Red Snow Control 2-1 (resolved stuffy and molten disastered before he could do the same to me, also drew sheets before he did)
I ran this deck yesterday at FNM and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I went 2-2 when I could've done a lot better, at least in one of the matches. See below for details.
Obviously some fairly unconventional choices there. I liked the Jester's Scepter though and it was certainly unexpected. I should've had either Akroma or Masticore in the board but not both.
At any rate, I lost round 1:
I faced a Kithkin deck that got a great draw in the first game. Although I knocked off some Cenn's I could never wipe the board and he overwhelmed me very quickly. If I recall correctly he dropped Stalwart turn 1, Wizened Cenn turn 2 and andother Stalwart turn 3 with a Kithkin Harbinger turn 4.
A Coat of Arms though sealed the deal and we moved onto game 2. I essentially didn't give myself a chance though by sideboarding poorly (I forgot to bring in my grips and only brought in one Sulfurous Blast cause I couldn't decide what to side out). He played a Militia's Pride, which I could not deal with since I had forgotten my Grips. An early Molten Disaster helped, but I never drew into the other three and my his Goldmeadow Dodgers and tokens swarmed me. Oh the Kithkinanity.
So essentially I have no one to blame but myself for losing game 2, and indeed in the next 3 rounds I woke up and improved my gameplay a little.
Round 2 vs. Gruul
I won game one on the back of two Skreds essentially with a few other points of damage done by a Fanatic and the Doll's ability. My opponent was convinced that he had enough to kill me on the next turn, except that I had enough burn to keep his creatures from doing enough damage.
In game 2 I started slowly but was 1 mana away from casting a Hellkite (with my opponent at 13) before he killed me. There wasn't much I could do though as he drew into all of his burn, making up for his lack of green mana. My life total went: 19 (Sacced Mogg), 16 (Incinerate), 13 (Incinerate), 10 (Rift Bolt), 7 (Incinerate), 4 (Rift Bolt), 0 (Tarfire x 2).
In game 3 My Stuffy Doll held back his Goyfs, after my Molten Disaster knocked out an early Troll without mana to regen. The burn package + Skred did enough to win.
Round 3 vs. Guile Teachings
I won 2x0 with a Jester's Scepter countering a Guile in game 2 as one of the highlights. Split second Molten Disaster did what it was meant to.
The only worrisome moment was when his Venser swung with a Warhammer, but by the next turn I was able to knock him out and keept it from happening again.
Most of my damage was done by Incinerate and a Hellkite in game 2 IIRC.
Thanks to the way things went that night I found myself playing for second place and maybe even first with some lucky tie-breakers? against the only 3x0 deck of the night, which happened to be another Skred deck piloted by TheDeadManX as reported above.
As he said, he resolved Stuffy before I did (in game 2), which basically won him the game despite me having 3 early Ironfoots on the board. I had taken game 1 and was playing first for game 3, but I kept a questionable hand. More importantly though, I drew well, but not as well as he did - he drew into a Sheets before I did and won the game right there. My Stuffy Doll was 3 cards down when the game ended. His Scrying Sheets had helped him dig through 5 or 6 extra cards.
As for the next time I might run this:
I definitely want to try out the RB ideas for this deck, mostly for Nameless in the board and possibly Profane Command. I'd limit Shriekmaw to the board.
I'd also bring in storage lands. They would've made every match up slightly better, whether for Stalking Yeti recursion, Hellkites or earlier Moltens for the win.
One card I wanted to try out for the sideboard is Stormbind. I think the prospect of uncounterable damage once blue potentially has control is very attractive, although more often than not you should win simply be virtue of being ahead in the damage race.
Spitting Earth is strictly worse than Skred in the curent Standard. All of your Mountains are snow anyway. Spitting Earth costs twice as much, is a sorcery, and doesn't count the other 16+ snow permanents in the deck.
The recent TCGPlayer article came as a bit of a vindication for me. When many lists had SB Pithing Needle, I was running Grips as a cheap replacement. Fast forward a week or two, and lo, Papa Skred himself advocates them. It would have been even beter if I had been playing Grips for non-financial reasons, but I digress.
4x Mouth of Ronom
4x Scrying Sheets
2x Molten Slagheap
4x Stalking Yeti
4x Stuffy Doll
4x Martyr of Ashes
4x Hostility
3x Chandra Nalaar
4x Scred
2x Disentrigrate
4x Coldsteel Heart
2x Coalition Relic
1x Mind Stone
2x Pithing Needle
3x Detritivore
4x Sulfurous Blast
3x Sulfur Elemental
3x Cryoclasm

-4 Stalking Yeti
-1 Mind Stone
-1 Hostility
+4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
+2 Incinerate
Cheers.

2 Krosan Grip
1 Akroma, Angel of Fury
3 Pyroclasm
Blaze should obviously be Disintegrate, I just haven't shelled out the tickets to make the switch yet. The sideboard needs the most work. I'd probably include at least two Pithing Needle if they weren't so expensive. I'll probably get some eventually.
Coalition Relic and Hostility have both been working out very well so far. Chandra hasn't been doing much, though I haven't drawn her a lot.
12 Snow-Covered Mountain
4 Mouth of Ronom
4 Scrying Sheets
4 Fungal Reaches
Creatures: 14
3 Epochrasite
3 Stalking Yeti
4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
4 Hostility
4 Skred
2 Coldsteel Heart
4 Coalition Relic
4 Incinerate
2 Beacon of Destruction
4 Molten Disaster
2 Sulfurous Blast
My board is still up in the air. I am trying to imporve the Faerie matchup without taking away from the deck.
3 Pithing Needle
2 Sulfurous Blast
2 Stuffy Doll
2 Akroma, Angel of Fury
3 Krosan Grip
3 Razormane Masticore
I feel that this gives me a bonus to whatever matchup I might face. My maindeck is focused on winning as fast as possible game 1. Then I can adjust the deck to whatever deck I am facing. Any thoughts?
[EDH] Ob Nixilis the Fallen
oh and why no martyr of ashes this card is great vs any form of aggro and it makes elf match up easy(i know its not a hard match up but its better then yeti imo) with that plus molten plus blast
Creatures
4 Sulfur Elemental
4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
4 Hostility
Spells
4 Incinerate
4 Skred
4 Sudden Shock
4 Coldsteel Heart
4 Molten Disaster
4 ?? (Not sure what I want to play here, Chandra maybe)
Lands
4 Mouth of Ronom
4 Scrying Sheets
16 Snow-covered Mountain
Martyr of Ashes was originally in the build but after having played it I found it not to be needed. More often than not it was just a 1/1. However...if Elves become a DtB in my area I will probably consider adding it.
@Sakrafyce,
I would highly suggest Coalition Relic.
[EDH] Ob Nixilis the Fallen
but i use 4x epoc, 4x ironfoot, 3x relic, 2x hearts. but mannequin hates me
i'm basically running iamchampions hostility build without yetis. and i run pyroclasm instead of blast. also another reason martyr isn't that good for me. but that's my meta.
storage lands especially for blue match ups saving up for split second molten disaster is game wining vs sonic boom decks and other control
[EDH] Ob Nixilis the Fallen
i was thinking about running ashling as well
but waiting for 6-8 mana before dropping him in seems to slow to me
as for me, ive switched from hostility to hellkite. that card is unreal, and yes i am now running epochrasite, because its just that good. yeti though still seems horrendous to me, esp. against the mirror match (stuffy deals you 3). also its 4 mana for a 3/3. id rather tap out like that for a blast IMO.
im going to post a new deck list in a day or so after i do more testing. and imsorry to say this as well, razormane masticore is not good in the sb. esp. vs mannequin.....it just gets popped back to your hand.
one thing i also noticed after playing this deck is that the hammer is a big problem for it. since then, im going for a splash of green and sb'ing ancient grudge. the rock gets too close for comfort in this deck, esp. when a choice card gets removed from your hand with thought seize. if you run just 3x grudges in the sb though, thats bout as good as 6 artifact bust cards. anyway, pithing needle is great but doesnt really do anything for me as usually 2nd game there is almost always an artifact hate spell my opponent sb's in. pithing usually gets busted.

He's excellent against Mannequin and some of the other midrange decks, as well as after you've stabilized against Elves and the other aggro decks.
Bogardan Hellkite - I personally don't play him. I like Akroma, Angel of Fury out of the board over him but...I can definetly see why he sees play.

Article for thoughts.
And for those who still dont know how to handle Sonic Boom without Akroma, Angel of Fury.

[EDH] Ob Nixilis the Fallen
The Rock 2-1 (thoughseize hurts, but we can overcome, a well timed hellkite smashed him)
Kithkin Beats 2-0 (yeti was really good here)
Mono Green haste 2-1 (yeti was really good here)
Mono Red Snow Control 2-1 (resolved stuffy and molten disastered before he could do the same to me, also drew sheets before he did)
Now for the decklist:
4x Incinerate
4x Molten Disaster
2x Bogardan Hellkite
4x Stuffy Doll
4x Skred
4x Phyrexian Ironfoot
4x Coldsteel Heart
2x Stalking Yeti
2x Chandra Nalaar
3x Disintegrate (This just wins games period.)
4x Highland Weald
4x Mouth of Ronom
4x Scrying Sheets
9x Snow Covered Mountain
3x Kroasn Grip
4x Sulfur Elemental (screws mesa strategies and hoses guile)
3x Pyroclasm
1x Sulfurous Blast
Here is the deck list I ran:
4x Stuffy Doll
4x Mogg Fanatic
4x Phyrexian Ironfoot
3x Stalking Yeti
3x Bogardan Hellkite
Spells
4x Incinerate
4x Skred
4x Molten Disaster
4x Coldsteel Heart
2x Jester's Scepter
4x Highland Weald
4x Mouth of Ronom
4x Scrying Sheets
12x Snow-Covered Mountain
1x Stalking Yeti
2x Krosan Grip
2x Sulfurous Blast
3x Akroma, Angel of Fury
3x Razormane Masticore
4x Cryoclasm

I think the suggestion was why not run both...
