Never. They won't make the mistake of banning cards in Standard again. And especially while the set is still the active one, that would hurt sales. Also they would need to go at lengths to spin a story, etc.
Copter is boring because Standard is boring: we had devotion, Rally, CoCo... They'll just probabaly balance te next sets to adjuste, but the pool of competitive cards is just too small for real diversity.
The trouble with every standard is that there always will be a nail that stands up and gets played like crazy. Right now we're hot off the presses of our first major tournament, got tournament results, and everyone was playing copter so every non-deck building MTG player who net decks is going to swarm to their nearest store and start buying out copters to use for their own amusement. At least in this case it's actually a rare and not a mythic like Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. Those two are the bed fellows of overplayed cards in the new meta as the ultimate mid game value engines and are probably going to see more play than copter ever will.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
To be fair CoCo, Thragtusk, Siege Rhino, and Copter are all just rares. Gray Merchant of Asphodel was a common. I don't remember a mythic that defined the format in a long time although Emrakul kinda does, he was mostly just one or two copies and not a full set.
Ugh I really don't like how copter is in every deck, it's even more annoying than sylvan advocate because at least against the latter you can play sorc. speed removal or the deck has to run green to use it. I think it's easy to dismiss as "this is a nother ban x card" but time will say if it actually starts killing diversity as it seems right now.
My aggro deck does not use Copter. And I beat a deck that did use copter and lost two decks that dont have copter. And those two decks were not even control.
Copter is not do all be all.

The fact that it can be played in several different decks means that it really can't do much to "kill diversity." That can only happen if the card makes it necessary to play a very specific set of cards with it, so that every deck running it is almost exactly the same list (like CoCo, which incidentally did not get banned).
0/32 Copter in top 8.
9/92 Copters in top 9-32.
22/128 Copters in top 33-64.
So, 31 fewer copters than maximally possible 256 in top 64. I like that the lower in ranking you go, the more missing copters you get. Note that I don't care about banning, but it is awfully prevalent in almost all deck archetypes.
Copter is aggressive, colorless, has pushed stats, loots, and doesn't rely heavily on synergy. Of course it's going to see a lot of play, it has basically everything you'd want in an aggressive creature. That said as long as decks without Copter are capable of winning games, it's not even close to being ban-worthy, and I don't see that ever changing.
I don't really see the issue. We have Fragmentize and Ceremonious Rejection. Even Pick the Brain is kinda viable. For green we have hard artifact/enchant removal, although it's a little more expensive.
I'm running a similar deck to the U/R spells from the Kaladesh PT that doesn't use copter and holds its own. At the last FNM and on game day there was only two decks running copters out of eighteen.

I don't think it's a huge problem because it's pretty easy to kill, but Pick the Brain? That's not an answer to Copter.

Even Immolating Glare is good against copter, although it allows one loot trigger.
There are too many good answers to copter and it's not a card that takes over a game by itself. It's very strong and it's cost makes it potentially ubiquitous to any deck running a fair amount of creatures, but it's not like "Play this card or lose" like some that we've seen in previous standards.
IMO, standard is anything but boring right now. You have a legit deck in any style you like. Bant company at 40% meta was boring.
Once red get's it's trade mark smash to smithereens lever artifact killer (likely in aether revolt), copter will be a good but very manageable card.
I can tell you though, playing b/r zombies, that copter has prolly died before it ever got to attack about as much as it got to attack. Now my deck doesn't need to play copter on T2 like r/w vehicles does so it could be that I am giving people more time to deal with it but still.

Reality is only what man allows it to be. Few shape it so that many may accept it.
I mean 2 commons in Standard that cost 1 destroy it. Or you could counter it for U with another card. Endless

That's not really true. You want a second as a back up copy, and Copter has a built-in means of turning excess Copters into gas.
