just a heads up, multiple zombie lists 5-0 today. W/b, mono black and even grixis zombies managed to put up results. This doesn't solve our question of what the best version is yet, it may be that each version has its own perk.
Grixis gets amalgams, and stitchwings to grind out matches.
B/W gets wayward servant and seems to be very explosive.
Mono Black can go all in and jam metallic mimics as a 2nd lord.
We have a lot of work to do.

Is Wharf Infiltrator seeing any play in the reanimator lists? It's a little fragile but it makes for a sick engine when it gets going.
Or is reanimator not even the default style any more? It seems like a lot of people are going a lot more merfolk-ish and jamming as many lords as possible.
I'm going to initially try to keep the Haunted Dead/Prized Amalgam/Voldaren Pariah engine. I actually won my FNM last week with my RB deck, but although the matches weren't difficult, it actually did what it was supposed to do. This is my Esper build.
I think with the metagame opening up that this deck can really compete. Not only do I believe its tier one, but I believe this deck may be the best one in the format.
This deck can have busted draws that let you win in the first few turns of the game, this deck has great removal to let you fight pound for pound with some of the best threats in the format, and this deck can grind with the best of them which gives you the advantage in the attrition battle.
When Amonkhet brought Dread Wanderer and Cut // Ribbons it gave us two strong rares that fit right into our gameplan.
A few notes on what I think the deck needs or doesn't need in the maindeck after a couple leagues.
Dread Wanderer-This is so right for this deck. A turn one play that can put pressure on the opponent, block early threats, be a zombie for Cryptbreaker's ability, and come back from the graveyard to trigger Prized Amalgam. This should completely replace any Insolent Neonates that are still in people's list. Neonate has a place in Modern Dredge but not is standard. It works extremely well with the dredge mechanic, but in standard it is a very weak body with an ability that provides card DISadvantage. We have better ways of getting cards in the yard.
Tormenting Voice-To pick up where I left off with the last card. This is very different from modern dredge although both decks share some of the same pieces. Cathartic Reunion is the better choice in modern, but not for standard. There's really only one card that want in our graveyard to start the game with and that's Haunted Dead. Tormenting voice does a good job of putting that card in the yard and it does a good job to dig for more cards when you top deck it late. People play Cathartic Reunion because they believe that all of our cards work great from the graveyard or benefit from being discarded. This is not true. Our cards, for the most part, work better being casted from our hand and then have the benefit of being recasted or returned from our graveyard. Cathartic Reunion being topdecked in the late game also really sucks since we most of the time don't have two other cards in hand to discard to it. Also, there are more counterspells around now, and having a cathartic reunion countered is devastating.
Cut // Ribbons This handles most threats for the cheap on the front side and then the back side is perfect to compliment our gameplan of grinding people down and chip shotting their life total with small creature attcks since enough of that will put them in range of an aftermath ribbons.
I hope that people have comments that state their opionions or experiences for this deck moving forward. Saying whether you think I'm right or wrong with no explanation really doesn't do much for the forum. I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!
How about going merfolk-ish with the BW list? 4 Metallic Mimic and Lord of the Accursed should do the job pretty well. I dunno though. Maybe it's just me wanting to make the BW version work.
I've seen some people testing with Scrapheap Scrounger and it's doing something good. How about we try Metallic Mimic in its place? Sure it does not come back from the yard and is somewhat a relatively bad top deck but the ability to make subsequent zombies larger makes sense, especially with Diregraf Colossus and Wayward Servant.
I'm taking a multipronged approach, with the life pings from the Servant and the Belcher, coupled with the Pariahs and Dark Salvation and the Haunted Dead/Amalgams. There are all sorts of interactions and triggers in that. I would love the Lord in there but it feels like it's shoehorned in. The other approaches are obviously Burn and just brute force Diregraf spamming tokens pumped by the Lord. Will just have to see how it goes...
As a quick FYI, if anyone is getting Relentless Dead there is a pretty good chance you only need two of them so don't worry about buying a full playset. With the prices on them rising into the 15 usd range and rotation coming soon it's basically sellers trying to up the price to make a few dollars off of hype. It's tempting to get a full playset, but the card is well known to be mana hungry and really needs to be treated as a sort of zombie recursion engine with a body, which we already get from playing Liliana, the Last Hope or the new Liliana, Death's Majesty. Btw the later is basically close to how much mana you could be spending to bring something back from the graveyard since most zombies worth bringing back are 2+ mana. I think the cap is 4 mana for Diregraf Colossus unless a 4 drop zombie shows up later.

Got most of my cards today so been just testing it out. Subbed some Diregraf Colossuses for some Dread Wanderers I haven't received yet, and I quickly realised that Diregraf and Wayward Servant really love each other. Have both out, cast a Zombie, make a Zombie, opponent loses two life. Have two of either out and it's incredible the life swing you can get without even attacking. Just make a wall of Zombies. I ditched the Haunted Dead, once you have five mana you can sac a Relentless Dead and a Colossus to Voldaren Pariah, bring back the Colossus even bigger, and next turn cast the Relentless again for another two direct ping damage.
Is there a reason people in the Mono black one are playing 0 Lili? But are playing a bunch of the 5 drop?
Also what's the white version running infinite 3 drops AND only 20 land, seems like the B/W could be built much better. But I'm horrible at deck building so I just have no idea what to do.
The 5 drop Liliana's Mastery acts as our 2nd lord and provides us 2 zombies on etb. It also pumps the rest of the undead team and can add over 8 points of power to a board state.
This deck is getting a lot of attention, I would get the pieces asap. The deck is good and it seems like the mono black version is the better of the builds.

I think the BW Zombies build would have more resiliency late game and Wayward Servant, even with 1 on board, does a 2 life point swing on every Zombie entering the battlefield. I came back against Mardu Vehicles because I was able to drain them slowly and losing zombies to removal spells when Dread Wanderer and Scrapheap Scrounger is in the grave is awesome. Time To Reflect exiled a Gideon, Ally of Zendikar as well when I blocked with a Sacred Cat Zombie Token. BW just opens the realm to us. I even have two Sorin, Grim Nemesis on top of the curve.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
Here is the Zombie deck I'm currently putting together. It tried to take advantage of all of the wonderful drain triggers that the Amonkhet zombies brought to play. The side contains some control aspects to be brought in as needed, along with a pair of creatures who like it when things die. Kalitas seems like a wonderful card here as he not only makes more zombies but can eat them to get stronger while triggering drains. I thought about adding Yahenni, Undying Partisan for a free sac outlet. Dusk // Dawn is a nifty little card that lets up recur almost every creature we have, which can end up causing enough drain triggers for the win.

Time to Reflect I think could be very good, but how many should be in a deck?
I may be running an all-in aggro version of BW zombies at the start of this format and see how it goes. Can always modify it into something else later on.
Out of curiosity, why is no one building decks with Prized Amalgam. It's clearly the best zombie in standard. At least the only one to get serious play in eternal formats.

Because the deck lists are pretty tight and you have to go in one of two ways with zombies: Either the older SoI version of zombies with recurring threats from the graveyard, or the lurching mid-range / aggro BW or mono Black builds. Without the glut of recurring threats and making that recursion the focus of the deck, amalgams becoming significantly weaker.

This... I tried building a mono-black deck with some recursion package for the Prized Amalgams but it just felt clunky most of the time. It feels like there could be better things to do at that point in the game rather than recur a zombie then get some amalgams. Plus, you have to include cards that get the amalgams into the yard (if you don't want to hard cast it).
I played against 5 Aetherworks Marvel decks out of the 5 rounds, and had I not built my sideboard incorrectly I would have beaten all of them handily. I was browsing the recent lists online and all of them seemed to have Lay Bare over Transgress the Mind, so I figured I'd go with that. After more consideration, I couldn't think of a single card that matters which Lay Bare hits and Transgress doesn't. The match I lost involved a game where I cast Lay Bare on 2 with a second one in hand, only to see a hand of 2 Aetherworks Marvel. As far as the list itself, it's pretty self-explanatory, with the exception of the full 4 copies of Liliana's Mastery(which seems to be popping up more and more in the recent MODO decklists). The reason I think this "go big" approach is very good right now is the deck's ability to grind with Mardu. Especially in post board games, Mardu can turn into more of this midrange control deck with spot removal and planeswalkers. However that configuration is not setup well against Mastery which gives you a huge edge in the matchup that was already pretty good to begin with. Playing less than 4 Lord of the Accursed might be controversial, but I was never really missing it that much with Mastery being another anthem effect. I'm not sure if I would change a single card in the main as of right now, but I am going to try the following SB moving forward:
Not quite sure about Declaration in Stone there and that could easily be a one-of Liliana's Mastery and an additional land. I just like the flexibility that exile removal might give me.
SB is still a mess and more "just in case". I haven't played with the SB yet but I'm going to try taking the deck to FNM's first and see what has to change. Cast Out and Dusk // Dawn might just be too cute to be in here.
Grixis gets amalgams, and stitchwings to grind out matches.

The other option drops the Wanderers, puts in Lord of the Accursed instead. It's just a test...
But yeah, we have so many options; Anguished Unmaking, Diregraf Colossus, Liliana's Mastery, Metallic Mimic, etc.

Unlicensed Disintegration It seems fine, but I really think we are far too lacking in the artifact department to turn the extra damage on and we can play so much other good removal(Fatal PushCut // RibbonsLightning AxeFiery TemperVoldaren Pariah) that we don't need this removal spell.
This deck pretty much copies the old BR Zombie Madness decks such as these successful ones from Standard's past except with the changes I stated above
