The red mage lives by the variance and dies by the variance. May the variance be with you, always.
Just not enough. If you're playing that and I play something fast, tier 2-ish, Wx Humans. I can happily race my 25 weenie creatures before this deck goes off and I don't think 8 removal is going to be enough, especially if I have a Lieutenant or something else that's can get into the x/4 range.
I personally like the idea of using those 12 red cantrips to great effect. We have some good support for instants and sorceries right now. Have you considered Dynavolt tower?
I've tried it, but it shares a CMC with Harness the Storm, leaving the deck having trouble setting up, and the card itself creates an alternate wincon that doesn't work around gaining life. In addition the card is only somewhat more efficient than Thermo alch, by about .25 more damage per spell cast.
In addition, the deck has 12 removal spells, passive gain life ability, and a decent blocker. I think it can stay alive versus aggro, and kill copter every game.

How do you kill Copter every game? 8/12 removal are sorcery speed and the remaining 4 don't kill Thopter on the first cast (needs to be the 2nd Bombardment). Your deck needs very specific conditions to kill a Thopter ever.
Have you considered splashing for blue? It gives you access to three one-drop counter spells, one of which can hit those pesky helicopters. Additionally, it gives you access to slip through space, another utility cantrip for one mana.
While I'm at it, you may also want to consider either bomat courier or stormchaser mage. The former grants card advantage, and the latter is a menacing beater should you not have the power to find your reservoir.
