His deck still tuned to beat aggressive decks, spell queller and tamiyo won't help against aggro. I like the longtusk cub and probably will main deck them to replace servant of the conduit if you expect a lot of control. I would also play Nissa, Vastwood Seer instead of Tamiyo since it can't be quelled. Kozilek return will probably be in the sideboard with harnessed lightning in main instead to interact with spell queller.
You mean Nissa, Vital Force ? Well it is true that majority did not expect that control will shine that great. Less than 10% of control decks since Day 1, and since week 1 of rotation, people were saying that control is dead, lots of aggressive decks.
Aetherworks 21.5% of field in both Day 1 and Day 2 (highest in field) and only 1 made in the 24 top standard decks. I'm disappointed. Too much luck reliant, unless lady luck is sitting next to you throughout the tournament.
Went on Stomping with my Grixis Marvel Emerge deck last week. I drop green and get black instead.
I love what you did with your deck. Removing the Puzzleknot for other energy producers that are more useful in the game, Catathartic Reunion to get rid of dead cards, and Ever After to get them back. This is better than Temur, and removes a lot of randomness to the deck.
I sincerely wish you the best for your deck. Your brew is elegant, and better thought out that what the pro tried to do at Pro Tour. In my opinion, they failed miserably. With more than 21% of all decks playing Aetherworks Marvel, only one deck made it in top 24 (4%), and 8 in the top 69 (12%). I don't remember the last time so many pro players were wrong at the same time. Glad I sold my cards this morning, the price is already falling...
They didn't fail in brewing the deck, they fail in predicting that control would show up in full force.
And it's here to stay (7 of the Standard Top 24 were Control). And Aggro, which was a known enemy, did better (13 of the Standard Top 24 were Aggro). On the clock, Combo (Aetherworks Marvel) is supposed to beat Aggro (and Aggro defeat Control, and Control defeat Combo). That this Combo deck failed to defeat Aggro is quite telling. Either Aggro is amazingly good right now, or this particular Combo deck relies too much on luck even when the combo is assembled. Even Emrakul on turn 4 is not an instant win if you're down to 10 life or less, and facing still more attackers after controlling their turn. Aggro has two more turns to attack and win, and maybe more, as Emrakul herself is probably needed on defense to avoid losing next turn.
I agree to this, that is that problem that I saw with the Temur build. It's just too much luck based and focused on popping the Titans. Just like on the round 8 of Pro Tour the match with Eric Froelich vs Matteo Moure (BG Delirium vs Temur Aetherworks). Match 1 Matteo keeps drawing and drawing the Titans on the early game 3 Big Papa Ulamog and 1 Emrakul, and keeps on whiffing and whiffing the Aetherworks and cause him to loose the match because the catacomb sifter and verdurous gearhulk just keep on pummeling him hard.
And a Sultai version ? We can add 4 copies of Diabolic Tutor for search our artifact
I don't think the problem with the deck is finding the marvel but the lack of alternate win condition and the inability to shuffle the drawn eldrazi back into the library. I like the idea of ever after if we can discard our hands full of eldrazi and then just reanimate them as an alternate wincon. Problem is, the best spell to do this is cathartic reunion, so go 4 color?

You can do 3 colors, in my deck I drop Green and replaced it with Black.

I saw your decklist and I like it. I'm just still not convinced on your energy generator. I think you need more. The problem is by adding more energy generator that doesn't do much but just to add energy we're turning this into a combo deck again.

Agreed. Ever After and Cathartic Reunion does help with Eldrazis in hand and in the graveyard, but I am still not convinced about removing Green altogether. Attune with Aether and Woodweaver’s Puzzleknot are still pretty good Energy generators. Attune helps fix your lands while Woodweaver gives you life for survivability. As long Aetherworks Marvel is in this deck, I doubt we can remove the combo aspect of it.
But here's a curious question, can a hybrid of RG Energy and Aetherworks Marvel exist? RG Energy can provide the early muscle and Energy while Aetherworks can speed the clock for an Eldrazi win. I think Emerge creatures can exist here too.
What about Fevered Visions and Elder Deep Fiend post board, along with our counterspells? Basically siding out the Ulamogs and some number of Marvel... Fevered Visions hoses control decks, typically comes down before they can get their counterspells online, and can serve as a way to stem the tide until we can either build up our graveyard to the point where we can cast Emrakul cheaper, or get our answers

I'm trying it out at the moment with 4 longtusk cub and 4 bristling hydra main deck. I cut the Eldrazi down to only 3 Emrakul and 2 Ulamog and I also play 2 Nissa, Vital Force main deck. The deck is less explosive but is much better against control.
What is he doing with Chandra, Ishkanah, and Tireless Trackers and will this help beat Control?
I have already been adding Ishkanah to my Temur version, as well as cutting a few eldrazi since they do tend to clog up the hand pretty often and Ishkanah can actually be hardcast reasonably often, and helps against aggro.
I do like the RG version here though, only splashing blue for the sideboard counterspells.
Losing the blue puzzleknot seems to me like you would no longer have enough energy enablers but I suppose servant and the harnessed lightning make up for it. I think I will try something like this out. Much more of a midrange style than an all-in combo.

He probably was expecting a lot of aggro, hence the 4 harnessed lightning, galvanic bombardment and Chandra. You can easily tune the list to do well against control, though. You can swap Ishkanah with Nissa and 1 Galvanic bombardment + 1 Harnessed lightning for 2 negates/dispel. I would keep 1-2 harnessed lightning main board as additional energy producer and to deal with spell queller.
Has anyone that played cathartic reunion tried 1-2 Mortuary Mire? It seems like a good addition to bring back a discarded Ulamog/Emrakul on top of the library.
I wonder why the RG list doesnt just play the one island mainboard. Is it because you want to increase your landcount postboard vs control? Or is it to not reveal that you are playing blue spells pre-board? All seem like valid reasons
I do like that with Servant and Aether Hub you can make blue mana anyways, if you arent able to grab the island.
What do you think the best counterspell lineup going into the gameday is? Negate/dispel/rejection split that is. I dont think other counters are worth it in here- certainly double blue ones or the bad mana leak

I would suggest 4 Dispel and 3 Negate. Half of the sideboard really needed against control. Ceremonious Rejection can be too narrow. It may be a good card against us, but not us against them.
I like the RG version with U counter spells in the sideboard but missing Glassblower's Puzzleknot and Contingency Plan can be crucial. Both cards arrange your next draws and let you hit better. Also, Mortuary Mire proven that it is a useful draw later in the game.
The standard format now seems fairly wide with typical aggro, midrange, combo and control. We trump over midrange and the faster combo deck. Just need to prepare against aggro and control match ups.

Do you really think Chandra is better than Nissa in this meta?
Do you really think Chandra is better than Nissa in this meta?
It is Chandra, Flamecaller. The previous Chandra, not the new one. Between Chandra and Nissa, I would assume Nissa, Vital Force, both are great cards. I prefer Chandra because of sweeper ability, helps against aggro/midrange decks when you're behind.

That's what I meant, the flamecaller chandra. I just thought that Nissa would be better if you're expecting a lot of control
I like Yuuya Watanabe's inclusion of 4 longtusk cub on the sideboard for the control match up. What do you think?
Longtusk cub seems good. Is it better than Tireless Tracker though? I think it may be because it actually does provide energy and comes down a turn earlier.
