Yixlid Jailer is a pretty pathetic MB zombie. If you are looking to hate GY's, the Withered Wretch is a good choice.
How well does Profane Command do in any deck with black in it? Frickin' Awesome that is. Take out 2 removal spells of your choice, 2 of the least effective that testing proves, for the awesomeness that Profane Command is.

Changed the Yixlid for the Wrench. I'll test the deck for a while to see the less efective removal (meanwhile, I think I'll SB the Commands).

Nice, you're running Zombies as well!
my build can be found below. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=93330
A few suggestions and some pointers.
- I main Withered Wretches for 2 drops seeing as how it's anti-tarmy tech, and was reccomended Sangrophage. I took out the Crusaders for the Sangrophages because it's a pretty decent 2 drop. Usually I end up dealing four damage when the Lord comes into play the next turn.
- I took out the Undead Warchiefs as the poster below me suggested in my thread, because the mana curve for the deck was too high.
- I keep a few Nantuko Husks as sac-engines for Graveborn Muse or any other Zombies to not lose sixteen life and draw sixteen cards a turn.
- Tendril-ing your Korlash also tends to help more than you think, for lifegain.
- Nameless Inversion + Lord of the Undead = Shotgun Tech.
- I also prefer Terror over Sudden Death as it helps with the mana curve.
I'm not running Husk to keep my count below lethal for Graveborn Muse. I'd rather run neither and keep up the attacking theme. Warchief lets me have a B 4/2, 4B 7/4, and so on, and I'm not scared of running 4cc creatures or anything. Thats assuming only one copy and Lord of the Undead isn't out to boot.
Also Urborg is a mana fixer for your opponent, so don't run it just because you'll have two non-swamps out.

I'm with you, actually on that notion. However, with a 22 land base and 15 4cc drops,.. I found it pretty straining on my mana curve. I thought I could improve it by running few Twisted Abominations but it would just become too inconsistent and I'd lose the "attacking" theme. Though the Warchief may seem like a great card at an initial glance... it really isn't. It's prone to a simple shock - which is what really turns me off.
What the Nantuko Husk + Graveborn Muse does provide is card advantage for removal, more creatures and gain life (w/ tendrils)
Withered Wretch has plenty of targets. Whether it being removing Goyf food to CotH's to Mystical Teachings to Haakon to a random Mystic Enforcer (which kills this deck btw) or basically anything. Also it is a 2/2 which is much better than a 2/1.

Graveborn is horrible and a win condition for your opponent. Withered Wretched has no targets anymore.
Drawing 3-4 cards a turn is a win condition for your opponent?
I'm terribly sorry to sound sarcastic, I just can't imagine how muse is bad in this deck. I'm sure if Dark Confidant was still in, people would suggest him in here immediately, and he would deal even more damage and not draw nearly as many cards.
Muse is just great in here, you're playing aggro so you'd hope to win fairly fast anyway and you've got Tendrils to make up for the life loss.
I'm not really sure if I'd want to run Festering Goblin in the same deck as Yixlid Jailer. All too often you'd set yourself up for 2 for 1s. Withered Wretch would just be better all around. He wouldn't die to Festering, he's permanently remove the GY threats and he'd be a more solid answer to that goyf everyone thinks is indestructible for some reason.
Urborg is only a mana fixer on the occasion that your opponent is playing B/x. And even then, it's doubtfully gonna be the kind of thing that's gonna give him thaaat much of an edge. Certainly worth it to help your Tendrils stay large when you're running the Sheets and Mouths.
I'd run Shriekmaw over Sudden Death, more beaters are always nice.
Charm is cool. But inversion kills more creatures and has more synergy with the deck considering Lord of the Undead can get it back and Warchief makes it cheaper.
And I'd definitely agree about running Profane Command. Maybe trim down the Festering Gobbos in there for them. I know it sucks that Festering Gob is the only 1 drop in the deck, I just hate all those times where you might only have out a Festering and a Stromgald Crusader out and they can get a 2 for 1, that really hurts.
P.S: Love the name!! It's good to see people still remembering the good old days of video games.

I'm an avid and active videogamer. (I currently own a XBOX 360, a Wii, and 2 Nintendo DS, but been playing since the NES-era.) Zombies ate my Neighbors is Videogame pop-culture :). Yeah, Shriekmaw would be very good, didn't think about it.
Zombies at my Neighbors... I used to play day after day with my neighbor back in the day, trying to get to I think it was level 41??? We never got there. =(
I think profane command is a must. It's just too good, especially if you add shriekmaw too. The possibility of a 3 for 1 is pretty amazing imo.
"The accumulation of their filth will foam up around their waists, and all the [prostitutes] and politicians will look up and shout, 'SAVE US.' and I'll look down and whisper,'No.'"
I have a very similar deck. Mine has no festering goblins, and I need to get some Stomgald's and Inversions. Mine also runs warhammer, damnation and profane command. I think profane command is a two of, as you don't really need it early game. Also the muse is very good. Drawing into the necessary tendrils or damnation to shut down aggro is essential.

Cool deck, dude! As for what to run, what to cut: the real question is how you want to play the deck. If you want to run a fast aggro-style beatdown deck, you'll want Sangrophages and Warchiefs. If you're looking for a more mid-game aggro-control style deck, you'll want Stromgald Crusaders (hey, evasion!) and Korlash, with some nice Inversion/Lord of the Undead synergy going on.
Of course, you can always have your cake and eat it too with a transformational sideboard . . .

Seems like a cool idea. But I think Korlash, Heir to Blackblade is good for both agro and control. Also, dunno if mainboard should be the agro-side or the controlish-side:
and a card which deals with enchantments/artifacts
which i dont' think black does too well with
If you're deciding to build a mono-black deck of any type, then you're submitting to the fact that you cant deal with game breaking enchantments and artifacts. The answer is to simply have better and faster answers to said permanents.
Or run good discard, like Thoughtseize

Nice deck name, i loved the game back in the days.
The sequel, ghoul patrol, wasn't too bad either!
i'd definitely run a profane command or 2 MD. Isn't disintegrate to your opponent's face good? It is, to get those last points you need. Plus you get some other options as a bonus.
maybe you could run a single copy of lord of the undead. As mentionned, it's good with nameless inversion.
i'm unsure about the muse. Against a red deck, you're gonna be in trouble with that+sangrophage.
And regarding your anti-control sideboard: don't you have anything to side in instead of the tendrils? I don't feel like they would be very usefull against control.
It isn't a anti-control sideboard, its a sideboard that turns the deck into Mono-Black Control

I know many people don't like Skirk Ridge Exhumer, but it works pretty well for me, with an excelent interaction with Nantuko Husk (chump block + pump + removal).
Nantuko Husk must be in this deck, it's the only creature who controls Muse. And it's a great beater.
I don't like Korlash, Heir to Blackblade in this deck, despite being a 4/4 usually, Lord of the Undead do more for the deck than he does. It tutors Inversion, and retrieve your army back, and costs one less mana.
Thoughtseize is a need in this deck (for budget players, you can exchange for Distress), help you to deal with a variety of troubles.
Sudden Death breaks down combos like Pickles or Project X.

Hi there,
I'm playing with a similar deck, but with a few differences:
22 Swamps
CREATURES (26)
04 Festering Goblin
03 Withered Wretch
04 Skirk Ridge Exhumer
04 Nantuko Husk
04 Lord of the Undead
04 Undead Warchief
03 Graveborn Muse
04 Thoughtseize
04 Nameless Inversion
02 Profane Command
02 Damnation
04 Funeral Charm
01 Withered Wretch
03 Sudden Death
04 Tormod's Crypt
03 Pithing Needle
I know many people don't like Skirk Ridge Exhumer, but it works pretty well for me, with an excelent interaction with Nantuko Husk (chump block + pump + removal).
Nantuko Husk must be in this deck, it's the only creature who controls Muse. And it's a great beater.
Withered Wretch is exclusive against GY hate, with a sideboard completing this strategy (Tormod's Crypt and an adicional Withered Wretch)
Funeral Charm and Pithing Needle improves card hates.
I've not dealed with the lands by now, but some cards like Desert, Quicksand and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth may be in.
Well, that's some ideas though.
3H
4x Stromgald Crusader
4x Oona's Prowler
4x Skirk Ridge Exhumer
2x Haakon, Knight of Stromgald
3x Undead Warchief
3x Lord of the Undead
3x Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
4x Nameless Inversion
2x Graveborn Muse
4x Shriekmaw
23x Swamp
Inserting the Haakon engine seems strong. That, and Undead Warchief makes Nameless Inversion only one black mana. Korlash may be overkill, and could probably be replaced, by I like the deck thinning capabilities of Korlash, Heir to Blackblade + Lord of the Undead.
-The Monarch
The Venture Brothers
At least the ones with husk.
See: Damnation, Stromgald Crusader.
Looks good, man! I don't know what to do about the sideboard- my advice is to test both, and see what plays the most different and run that.
Agreed, I will try to test both sides when I get the chance.
