i'd love to come up with a deck taht makes extremely good use of the ornithopter enduring renewal synergy... thus far all i've thought of for otehr synergy is either nantuko husk, fallen ideal, or mantle of leadership (eww), or some combination of the three. now we're all smart people, and who doesn't love a good ornithopter beat down. so let's build this mofo!
a bit of a guide as to waht i'm going for:
all decent ideas will be considered. the only cards i'm specifically wanting to keep are ornithopter and enduring renewal. i'll be very suprised if this stays monocolor so feel free to offer ideas in any of the other 4 colors.
Rusalkas could do with a place it there, any will do, if you use the white 1 then I suggest you go blue tefari to help reccur the lock and counters
Wrath of god is a must but if you're reccuring white cards then sunscour is worth a shot, damnation may work, seeing as the sac is black and I don't see any reason not to add the black rusalka if you do go black
Or you could go red and be the only one with creatures that survive pyrohemia as well as the red rusalka (easy demonfire) and dust carona
Green isn't great, it realy isn't unless you go 3 colours or more which I advise against
Wild Cantor with enduring renewal is a infinite storm combo, maybe as a back up win condition. Also, slashing red would give you burn (helix included) to burn away creatures until you go off. $0.02
Idea 1: t1 ornithopter, eot pongify you own ornitopther, t2 ornithopther is a 3/3 and then unstable mutation x2 swing for 9/9. t3 swing with 7/7 then psionic blast =win.
Idea 2: generate a lot of mana. Put Tydespout Tyrant on play. then play ornithopter and mishra´s bauble bouncing one and then the other and make that play infinite....then grapeshot ftw
"Talkin outta turn....That's a paddlin'. Starin' at my sandals....That's a paddlin'. Paddlin' the school canoe....You better believe that's a paddlin'!" --Jasper
so far from what i've read ornithopter, enduring renewal bitter ordeal seems the most win-tastic, although grapesht isn't a bad idea too. the problem with the rusalkas and pyrohemia is how mana intensive the are. any ideas for a sac engine without a high mana requirement to go with ornihopter/renewal/ideal??
let's shift to jsut WB now...
thoughts?
btw, jonnyjonski's silver idea sounds fun and would probably be my second pick though 5 card combos are a bit hard to pull off, especially in UW...
blue white is perfect for fateseal, scry, life gain and card drawing so it seems like a good combo colour to me, as for the pyrohemia one, you don't pay all at once, lol!
Well, obviously, Nantuko Husk for the Ornithopter sac engine if you have to have Orni and Enduring. But also, there must be some cool use of Magus of the Abyss here somehow. The Orni's stay in play but they aren't much use unless you can pump them up. Unholy Strength? Of course, you have to keep the Magus in play. Holy Strengths could pump the Magus to 5/5 level and be safe from burn.
I don't know, it looks like a start on something though.
@DarkByDesign: the only problem with that is that you end up discarding your bitter ordeal to the mindlash if you want to go infinite...
Mindlash's discard ability is irrelevant, since it's always being sacrificed to Basal Sliver's mana-producing ability. While we're talking about it, that's actually quite a potent infinite mana combo, what with Homing Sliver and Dimir House Guard to make an easily-obtainable, cheap, three-card infinite mana combo. Nice stuff.
As for "breaking" Ornithopter, I think pretty much everything's been said. If you're going to play infinite Ornithopters, you've got a lot of ways to win. Obviously Grapeshot or Ignite Memories would work, but so would Primal Forcemage + Pandemonium, Mantle of Leadership on another creature, Soul Warden for infinite life, and of course infinite counters on the delightful Juniper Order Ranger. Woohoo.
hmmm... im thinking i want to go in the WB direction, with ordeals and such. so...
soul warden's sound like a good addition to the deck. so... at this point we tentatively have:
I'm thinking Dimir Machinations would be an obvious addition to tutor for the Husk or the Ordeal, and probablyOrzhov Signet to help speed the deck up a tiny bit (unless some one has a better idea...) other than that i'm open to more suggestions!
try running 2 or 3 times that land that makes all swamps and some plagued rusalka
that way you pay X to destroy a creature (x equals toughness) and can wipe the board clean easily
i played a blk/ w sack deck , with ornithopter , enduring renewal , and nantuko husk .
idea: keep their table open , sack the thopter to the husk ; pre-combat xxxxx times , (renewal brings it back , cast, sack ...... then swing.)

Basically the combo is Ornithopter + Wild Pair + Cloudstone Curio. The Curio doesn't trigger off the Ornithopter, but it DOES trigger off the 1/1 sliver you search for with Wild Pair. And when that sliver triggers the Curio, you send the Ornithopter back to your hand and do it again!
The Research is used to pull your slivers from the SB to be searched out (use Wall of Roots to go for the 2/2's - stacking the Wild Pair trigger and then adding a counter to make it a 0/4 wall).
But that's just an idea I had... make of it what you will!

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
I think the best Ornithopter build would be B/W with enduring and nantuko husk with the addition of soul warden, that way it will be nuts. Infinite life and super big nantuko. If you could make nantuko husk secured and evasive, the better.

Well, if you're going in the direction of black, might as well throw in Funeral Charms and Urborgs. Swampwalk FTW!

what does everyone else think of maybe running resurrection/zombify/dread return and a w, b, or wb fatty? (akroma, tombstalker and/or angel of despair come to mind)

Resurrection-type spells would work well in this deck, because of Enduring Renewal putting the creatures in the grave if you draw them. As for fatties, run 1 or 2 maybe, just as an alternate win.
Especially if you (with Enduring out) Flashback Dread by Saccing 3 Ornithopters to bring back your Husk... OOPS!

thoughts? ways to speed up the deck? it's been ok (went off turn 6 three out of the five games i was able to test today)... the sideboard is for the speed decks that wreck it: gruul, narco, and dstorm.
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Thermopod. Thermopod + Ornithopter + Enduring Renewal = infinite red mana, which I'm sure you can find a use for.

that way you pay X to destroy a creature (x equals toughness) and can wipe the board clean easily
For your list, maybe add Mortify for some removal, and a few Loxodon Warhammer to gain life and give husk trample.
