Psionic Blast handles anything that gets through, there's a bunch of counters, and the card drawing helps refuel. I'm not totally sure about the inclusion of Mystic Snake, and would like opinions on how to improve the deck. Thank you for your help.
I did consider playing more whispers, but I decided that I would get the most benefit out of it if it is drawn late game, so i figured less copies is more effective. Also, could you possibly post your deck?
I have also considered ancestral visions, and am still a little wary of the suspend with no mana cost. I think that the cards i have in now are more effective, or at least as effective and cost less money. If someone can show that they tested strongly with visions, then i will definetly add it.
You can play the whispers and no pay the buyback cost. You can "cycle" them in the first turns when you can't pay 6 mana.
I did know this, but i was simply saying that it is more effective if the buyback cost can be payed. If i was planning on cyclying them alot, then i would just play another draw spell, but if i play less copies, it is less likely that i will draw them early game and need to cycle them.
I have a UW Akroma control and first or second turn ancestral visions works really well. I play only 2 Akroma and i usually get at least one every game. I use 3 draw sources though: 3 Tidings, 4 Visions, and 3 Court Hussar.
Maybe some sort of storage land would work too. I find that Calicform Pools works nicely because it allows be to store up all the extra mana i get. I play 3 of those.
I would definately go with -4 Psionis Blast (it really does nothing) +4 Boomerang or Wipe Away.
Also i would try to fit in 4 Ancestral visions because it gives you mass draw for 1 mana. Much better than one card for 6.
The Gaea's Blessings are definitely good, in this deck it almost always equals 1G: shuffle 3 counters or 2 counters and a blessing into your deck then draw a card. Which is always a good thing, the possibility of winning by mill is a bonus but the ability to replenish your supply of hard counters is the major reason i see to play blessing. I might even consider upping the number to 4.
4 Whispers of the muse is also a must, just cycle it early game and wait for the mid-late game to start buying it back.
DON'T RUN ANCESTRAL VISIONS!!! too many decks run Remand and the last thing you want to do is wait 4 turns only to have it return to your hand(or to get in a counter battle during your upkeep).
I took out the Draining Whelks because I realized that I don't need the extra finisher. Other changes are discussed in the posts which suggested them, I simply agreed with their reasoning.

Machius proudly supports R_E's right to Rumour!
Though storage lands might be good, I don't think they would be good enough to warrant playing off color lands. they wouldn't fix my mana at all.
ummm...... the card which char is a near reprint of does nothing?
