Someoen finally put two and two together alrealized that the husk can be unblocakble! Yay! On a serious note, this needs to be a three color deck if not purely for Promise of Bunrei. Kami of false hope will help you surviv faster aggro.

i think that cutpurse could replace the shade. its card advantage would be good cause of the writ. it would be better that way imo cause it just works.
i dont know about a third color just for the kami and brunei... a third color would make it harder to get akuba to pump... plus, i kinda like the fact that i dont rely completely on the husk to win...
i like the cutpurse idea... hes worth taking out one of my "pump"ables
once i get a writ in my hand i never need another source of unblockability... plus the pathmage is only a 1/1 for 3... and cant get any bigger... it doesnt really help me win... or stop me from losing... if anything i was thinking of adding that 0/5 flying defender instead of mana leak, becuase with my mana curve i cant afford to keep mana open for a counter early game, but i do need to stay alive
... btw... when coldsnap comes out chilling shade goes in and all my basics become snow covered
i really like this deck. i do think it does have alot of bad matchups like
-zoo
-heartbeat(they will win the counterwar and leak doesnt do much.)
and anyother strong agro deck like husk. i think we should cut the leaks for hinder. just cause in my metagame there is alot of heartbeat and manaleak i dont think will cut it.
the hinder could be more helpful... especailly considering this deck doesnt want to have to leave mana untapped early in the game... but late it can
... and what gives it a bad matchup against those decks... they cant block... and i leave my 1/1's back... they would have to be foolish to run at a festering goblin
intersting deck idea,
i agree with yukorra that u should add phyrexian instead
also, hinder and spell snare could make ur matchups alittle more playable,
note: y isnt anyone playing spell snare?

Haha, it's funny because you changed my post into a post that makes less sense in this context.
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
No, really, I made that post while on the phone with CU7L45 and we were discussing this exact thing. I speak of Ninjas, specifically Mystblade Shinobi, who acts as soft removal, and Throat Slitter, which acts as hard removal. We've come to the conclusion that the Mystblade is better, and I'm pretty sure the wall is coming out for it.

it's saved my life a ton
Remember, just because a card saves you doesn't mean its the best card for that particular deck. It's entirely possable that there was a card that would have prevented the situation entirely, or even reversed it.

I have no extendo-sig. Sorry, I'm just not vain enough to think someone will click on it.
When we lay it out this way, it's obvious that there are a few problems with the deck.
#1: The control element is entriely blue. This means that Islandscrew==aggrofication. That's pretty bad. I think we need some black control, probably removal.
#2: There may actually be too many creatures. I mean, 30 is a lot. I understand that some are psuedo-removal (Mistblade) and some of the noncreatures are are repeatable (Writ) but it's really just not impressive in this state.
#3: Dark Confidant isn't quite as good in many peoples' eyes as Phyrexian Arena. He's a tad faster, but he'll kill you quick if you let him. Mistblade Shinobi off the top with him is painful. Either drop him for Arenas, or pick up some Tops.
#4: 10/4/6 is an odd ratio for lands in such a balanced deck. I realise that the point is to allow "pumping" of the Akuba, but I think you'll only want to hit that ability 2 or 3 times in a turn My I suggest 9/4/7? It's closer to balance, but still a little off.
He's a counterspell for targeted removal that also happens to have legs. Also, he's an intant speed pump for the Husk. He makes non-win situations into win situations after the first main phase is over, and can be an emergency save in many cases. He's ridiculously awesome.
yeah... after choosing to put husk in the deck... plaxmanta and festering goblin seemed like such obvious choices... one is a counter that pumps the husk... and the other is removal that pumps the husk...
... what do people think about the newest decklist?
4 Nantuko Husk
4 Plagued Rusalka
4 Festering Goblin
2 Dark Confidant
4 Wicked Akuba
2 Looming Shade
4 Mana Leak
4 Remand
4 Plaxmanta
4 Writ of Passage
6 Island
4 Watery Grave
the husk, akuba, and shade can all "pump" and fall under the power of writ.
the rusalka and goblin are removal (one which can be food and removal)
the sprite is a flier, either for blocking or being excellent food for the husk
the plaxmanta is both a counter spell to protect your big swingers and food for husk (its comes into play ability on the stack, sac to the husk)
and the mana base has the obvious favor to black due to the shade and the akuba
(finally, i get to use forcast of something other than pride)

You know there's removal in Blue that does this a lot better, right? I mean, you don't have to use mediocre cards to get it done.
