Wow, I thought this thread was dead. I had been considering tidings for some time, so it's good to see that someone else did the testing for me
Am I the only person who still swears by 2x Mikokoro? That card has saved my life more times than I can imagine. The chance of getting 2 in a game is there, but almost negligible compared to the possible rewards.
Also, why cut a searchlight for a Golgari Signet Gwendly? (maybe I'm just attached to the searchlight because mine are all foil :()
Fish- I don't run the signet, most people choose not too as searchlight can be a pinger against a lot of decks. Tidings is excellent, the only time I hate it would be starting hand cause the deck already has 10 6cc cards, so a high cost opening hand can be an auto-mulligan sometimes. But I only run 3x tidings so its good.
On the subject of Mikokoro, the draw from Tidings helps a lot, and I have run into two Miko before. I like to do it with Miren, so I can sac one and lay the other down post-Wildfires, but as good as Mikokoro is, it helps both players with draw, so I'm not looking to help my opponent recooperate with me.
Looking for testers for either ED or to play Glare against my ED, pm me to help out this (not dead*) thread.
Magicfreak- See page 18 for a quote of my latest version, which is missing 1 Watery Grave and 2 Copy Enchantments maindeck, so don't forget to add those goodies in. Copy Enchantment is tech.

I don't like running two of any of the legendary lands since there is always a chance your opponent will drop a moaning well or whatever. It's kind of a paranoid thing, I know, but still
I'm playing the Golgari signet instead of searchlight #3 because I felt that with the addition of Tidings to the mainboard, and Kagemaro to the sideboard, that the deck was just too topheavy. Several times while goldfishing I couldn't ramp up to mana #3 quick enough and it annoyed the hell out of me. It could also be a fellwar stone but I felt that the signet was stronger because the stone sometimes is a dead card.
In my sideboard I chose to play the flashfires over cards like shadow of doubts and the fourth boiling seas because white control decks are very common in my meta game. Which is a matchup that's SO easy it's not even funny.
haha i thought i was the only person that was like 'omg flashfires' but i guess not, im glad to see someone else figured it out...it rocks against glare as well...i play ED but a lot different from your guys' build...i used to play w/ dragons but having so many high costing cards gets to be a pain in the ass...just me i like my version i'll post it here sooner or later
I guess I should have mentioned that MUC and Gifts are like virtually non existant in my meta game too I was really dreading having the three boiling seas in my sideboard when I played the FNM, but in most metagames I'm sure that boiling seas are the nuts
Gwen- Boiling Seas is the slot directed towards MUC. Other than that, i havent found a match-up to side it in. I though Critical Mass, but there's more green mana sources on that board at any given time, so you only ever get 1 or 2, unlike MUC where you get 6 or 7+.
Mac- i'd love to see your build. I disagree on the dragon note, only because as right as you are about the high cc cards (Wildfires, Tidings, Dream Leash, both dragons). However, we've yet to find a cheaper, better win condition. In addition, Kokusho's lifegain effect cannot be underestimated at all. But let's see that build!
I know i promised game by game analysis of GhaziGlare, but i accidentally X'ed out the box so i lost the logs (i don't use autosave). Therefore, i'll have to do it for the 10 post sideboard games, one of which i played and will recount here.
[Pre-Sideboard GhaziGlare vs. Emminent Domain Results: Glare........2 ED.........3]
Thanks again to Nan for the decktesting help.
Now onto post sideboard...
Game 1: It started for me with an early, turn 3 signet and aqueduct, turn 4 signet and Searchlight. I pyro-ed away a Guildmage and elf, and he brought out another 2 elves next turn. I dropped Kokusho, and Nan responsed with Arashi. I swung with Kokusho next turn, leaving me open to arashi. He attacked for 5 and dropped a Loxodon Hierarch. i responsed by Leash'ing the Arashi. He Naturalize'd my Leash, and i sacced him to Miren to gain 5 and negate the pinging of elf and Arashi. I swung in with Kokusho after a Wildfires for the win. 1-0 ED in the first post sideboard game.
I hope the MODs are paying attention to our results when making Tiers.
obviously the boiling seas are for the MUC matchup, I was just pointing out that in hindsight I shuoldn't have had them in my board since there were a grand total of 0 of them in that tournament. But if there are MUC players you better be prepard, it's not pretty.
I might end up going to FNM this friday and next friday, see if I can post some more results then
Oni- I really don't know why the "ummm" comment, doesn't feel too constructive. I noticed beforehand that the new nearly comprehensive thread had us at a pleasant Tier 1.5 (off of a 1st place at Champs and lots of testing here). I also read that there would be some shifting, and was aluding to the thought that we're definately putting up more testing than the other official threads.
So if that's what was meant by "ummm" (that obviously u are paying attention) then good and I hope you continue. Otherwise, I don't know why the red "umm" but it wasn't constructive towards this discussion and went unexplained. Perhaps you should be red texting more important posts...just a thought...
So yeah, tomorrow ill most likely (along with Nan or another mtgs user) finish up the post-sb Glare testing. So far, the goals of E.D. Vs a Glare deck are....
1) Depending on your build, hold the burn spell of choice back (especially pyroclasm). If it's Shock, then it's more expendable, but most players will overextend there board with weenies, allowing the player running Clasm' maindeck to sweep up any llanowar/wood elves. The one elf you want dead, especially if only running MD Shock...Selesnya Guildmage. Once the Ghazi player has 4 mana (1 white) they can opt to give their board temporary Glorius Anthem, thus keeping any Loxodon alive through a Wildfires, or worse, a few Guildmages alive through a Clasm.
2) An obvious point of interest would be getting their City Tree if possible. Cutting a hole in their token generation is great.
3) Post sideboard, they usually remove the Pithing Needles because the only target is Icy Manipulator. They have Naturalize and Seed Spark post sb, so playing those Icy early and often will protect your enchantments and acceleration from those spells. Can't have stand to be Glare'd themselves
I didn't read the entire thread, but why don't play any break-lands like stone rain or thought of ruin ? They slow down your opponent, and that 's efficient with the steal-lands.
With guildpact which coming, which known changes will occur ?
I see pain-lands => shock-lands, and perhaps dimir signet => izzet signet
and about the bounce-lands ?
I might try testing thoughts of ruin as a sideboard card if enough people show up with glare.dec I don't think this deck can lose to that deck if you keep them of the white mana, which is easier said than done :/
icy is indeed not a threat for glare, and when I played Glare deck I kept my naturalizes and seed sparks to use against his early artifacts and annex+lash.
as for guildpact changes there are two main scenarios.. the first is that we get a finisher that can replace kokushu.. if that happens then bouncelands and signets will most likley go izzet style.
But what I find most likley is that we are not gonna get a replacement for kokushu and even if we do Im not sure we get izzet stuff that can replace the black stuff in our sideboards..
Also as for the painlands vs shocklands Im not sure it will change over.. If boiling seas still is needed because of muc, then theres a good posibility that the reefs will stay as we will need the non-islands that make blue mana
stone rain: simply abundant.. its manacost doesnt fit the curve and we dont really need LD as it doesnt enforce our own board position. there is a reason that wildfire is the only LD we run, its because of the board advantage.. stuff like annex boosts our own side of the board, letting us boost it even more and at the same time it damages theyre position, wich makes wildfire then potentially lethal..
Toughts of ruin, its so unstable in a deck like this because it has variable hand sizes so its much harder to break the symmetry in it in a deck like this.. Wildfire is static so its much easier to plan for.. also with only 23 lands in the deck we really dont need more stuff killing our lands..

After a careful look over GhaziGlare (since nan downloaded and played it) I guess there really isn't much except....oh yeah Vitu Ghazi? If u tap that during their upkeep, they have to decide if dedicating to a token (without haste mind you) is worth it not knowing the draw. Not to mention their bouncelands.
I think that land tap is overlooked especially vs. Glare. Denies them a turn for Kodama, Yosei... Maybe I'm wrong, but post sb, they'd expect you to sb out the Icy because it's the only Pithing Needle target...therefore keeping them in vs. Bouncelands, ghazi (and hell even Jitte if ur packing a dream leash).
Again maybe I'm wrong, but with 9 games of testing to go we will most definately find out.
Nan- sry I wasn't on all day to test, my internet was out when I got home from work and I never got around to turning it back on before I passed out before I went back into work. My bad!
Ibashar- I agree Icy is something I'd look to sideout. The more and more I think about it the more and more you and Gwiendly sound right.
Note to self: never test just 1 game at a time. Leaves an uncertain feeling.
Back tomorrow with more testing.
Post Sb Glare test results.
Game 2- I started with an aqueduct, a mountain, 2 signet,, koko, keiga, wildfire. I reluctantly kept. And it did me wrong. Early Llanowar Elves, Selesnya Guildmage, another Elf, Kodama, and i was swamped with no mana, Seed sparking my only Signet.
1-1
Game 3- Dimir Aqueduct and Selsnya Bounceland on turn 2s. I had a Clasm and Shock in hand, with a Shinka to produce. He dropped a Wood Elf that would be Shock'd. I dropped a 2nd Aqueduct, and he dropped another Wood Elf and Vitu ghazi. I got a Guildmage and 2 elves he dropped wit hClasm, and Dream leash a Sanctuary,. He naturalized it, but i Annex'd his Vitu ghazi and Copy Enchanted it to get the Sanctuary back. He Congregated Dawn for Muse Kodama and another
Wow this game went long, he dropped an Arashi, and channeled one earlier at my first koko. I got another later after a Wildfire. His glare and token producing kept me locked down for Loxodon and arashi beats. 2-1.
Game 4- More of the same. Annex, Kokusho, Wildfire, Arashi, the same players. I got rid of some Elves that he accelrated with. Arashi finished koku, i got another, and Wildfired, he had a Glare out with no land and i had 2 arties and a Koku. I swung in for the kill. 2-2.
What do you guys think? I'm just waiting for a big fattie that the Izzet could possibly bring to the deck, to probably replace Shard Phoenix... I'm also thinking about Copy Enchantment, Remand, and Tidings...
Does the probability of drawing Copy Enchantment as a dead card without a legal target outweigh its usefulness? Could someone explain the advantage of Remand over card-drawing/selection (Telling Time)? And isn't the deck too loaded with high casting-cost cards to support Tidings, even with all the mana sources?
Thoughts please... I really would like to help make this archetype unstoppable...
Shard Phoenix seems awful, it's ability is counter-intuititive to casting Wildfire multiple times per game. If you're doing one of these two things, you're not doing the other, and the deck really needs to be casting Wildfire to win against other Control decks.
I think Ryusei sucks also..it's really good against aggro, and when you play him, you strand all of your other dragons in your hand. Kokusho's ability gains you life, and makes your opponent lose life..Keiga's steals their guy. Ryusei's is moot...plus, doesn't this deck generally run 1-2 Mikokoro, and at least 1 Miren? And Shinka, and Oboro? At the very least, you need Miren, because it gives your dragons much more versatility.
On a side note, kicks, I think you need 4 more mana accelerants..Spectral Searchlight really isn't a mana accelerant; it's an alternate win condition. Telling Time doesn't seem particularly great for this deck, Remand seems infinitely better.
DarkKnight- in all the testing we mustve missed your build, because I wouldn't just ignore it. Please repost I'd love to comment!
Kicks- I see what you're trying to do with a post Izzet UR only version. But one cannot deny the great addition of Kokusho in this deck. His life gain single-handedly tips the scale a little less in the preSB favor of any aggro style deck. Furthermore, his 5 pt loss of life isn't anything to goff at either.
As far as Copy Enchantment goes, I run that risk sure, but I only run 2x maindeck to avoid the risk, and I run 7x enchantments as legal targets (3x Leash 4x Annex) altho I'm thinking of going back to 4 x Leash cuz it is too good.
The fact I run 3x Tidings MD with 3x Leash keiga koku and 4 wildfire does make a high curve, but the deck can produce the mana very easily (remember Annex becomes a mana source, making 31 total in the deck) so it isn't a worry as they all feel about 1 mana less then they really cost.
Telling Time is no good. Definately run Remand over it if you're going Remand MD. I run Clasm instead of Remand md though, as aggro seems to be too heavy this t2 to ignore it MD completely.
You also need Legendary lands, specifically Miren. I run 2x Miren, leaving me able to have one Legendruled or Wildfired. I also run 1x Mikokoro to help dig at the very end of their turn to at least wait to give them that draw. Shizo is also a must for the dragons.
This deck is on its way to DEMANDInG maindeck enchantment removal. Say hello to Mortify!
ixi: how would the deck be able to run mortify? it doesnt run white? also, get your ass on msn
btw: Im just mentioning that Im working on this deck at mtgnews and manatap as well, and ixi is also at manatap.com(the new mtg strategy forum). But we will ofcourse continiue to post our results here as well

I've taken it upon myself to improve this thing's aggro matchup even more, by adding a few Bottle Gnomes in the side. It chumps for days, and gives you that extra flexibility this deck really needs vs Rw aggro.
Jace on the other hand gives you card advantage for no life cost. On the contrary, Jace can actually take some damage for you. I'd think that makes him better than Arena.
Haven't been able to find a post in here...but why not run Copy Enchantment? It costs 1 less than Annex and can essentially do the same thing when you play it. Does it not work that way? Has it been playtested or is it just the suxors?
masterbeeble: We do run 2 of it Its very usefull card in the deck but we cant run to many of it because its a dead card without enchantments in play..

Gpile- that's actually a very interesting tech. My solution to it was 4md Clasm and I used to have 4 shock sb (had to change for Needle for better Glare and GG matchups). The only thing I see as a problem with the gnomes is the tightness of the deck, altho I may feel like a sb addition of that cuz it sounds so good.
If it costs 3 and not 4 I can't remember, no 4 cc spells needed in this deck tho.
Copy enchantment at 2 tests very well, because even if you hold it in hand, once you draw Dream Leash it essentially becomes a 1/2 priced Confiscate, and we have no other means of artifact/enchantment hate, so we just steal!
Nan- again, I was working. I work same schedule, I'm at work starting 5pm est-10am est, so find yourself a method of conversion and do the math buddy! :-p
And yes we'll be conducting our testing at manatap as well.
Still to test: final 6 post sb Glare (2-2 so far, we added 3-4 x Pithing Needle in the sb to make our matchup better), WWr aggro, UB control/jushi control (splashing black), Dredgepact, BGw control, and perhaps RW control.
Obviously we'll test against anything else that comes up.
Thanks for comments guys! Good to see GPile taking an interest!
To tell you the honest truth I don't know why you'd want to put in pithing needle against glare (because of glare? I can see them sideboarding those out and if they do, do you want them against greater good or hikori?) because the only reason why you'd be able to lose that matchup is if they have white mana. The guildmage, hokori, jitte, loxodon and yosei is pretty much the only cards that are even bad for you. (and yes that is a decent long list)
That's why I wouldn't mind testing thoughts of ruin. But I would only do so if the ghazi glare deck becomes popular in my metagame. I'd think they're pretty much chaff against most of the other decks.
I think you want to play very aggressive against them, wildfiring every time you have a chance (unless they have a yosei of course) and the same with pyroclasm etc. Even if you can wildifre @ 4 lands to 4 lands I tihnk you need to in this matchup. Maybe I'm approaching this matchup wrong, but to me the white mana just seem TOO key :/

Say hello to Mortify!
btw: Im just mentioning that Im working on this deck at mtgnews and manatap as well, and ixi is also at manatap.com(the new mtg strategy forum). But we will ofcourse continiue to post our results here as well
