Has anyone else tested Orcish Artillery in R/W Control? I personally think it would be a nifty peice of tech against either Ww/R or rats, as it serves as a blocker and can squash just about every creature the two decks play. Give it a Manriki-Gusari or a Jitte, sit back and let it do the rest.
At the very least, it will immeaditly eat a removal spell once your opponent stops laughing and realizes how devastating it can be.
What do you think?
I've always kind of hated little creatures in a control deck based on mass removal.

edit: hehe yeah that be hilarious navyjoe... now i have to throw that into my GWaR deck (which is different than fungus fire and zoo, not much but i've been playing GWaR for about 7 months).
Orcish Artillery is a decent choice for a three-drop in Sligh or RDW decks that need the slot filled. It can replace Vulshok Sorceror to deal with aggro heavy metas. Otherwise, it's just okay.

Mr Indigo - Defying my own philosophies since 1998.
it was good in 1996... being almost 10 years later, this card has no purpose in a constructed deck, especially when the most popular deck in the format is RW aggro and well taking chunks out of your life seems fair to them.

Hats off to [BB18 & IBTG], you've found something that may be THE deck to beat post rotation.
I can see how he's nice with a jitte on. The old jankster deck I used to run used CoP red and spirit link too to make him work. But at 3 toughness he's just a bit to easy to get rid of, and the RR cost hurts in 2 colour... and as mentioned w/r has way better options in general ><
Wow the states arguement again... cmon guys I went 2-3-1 with friggin B/G/w control that pretty much sums it up.... I was ready for the meta not some jank deck playing searing meditation and zurs weiring..... seriously States is nothing. I lost who cares its to the equivelent of saying pretty much you mise well toss a coin. It's rogue city and alot of well tuned decks ready for the meta-Gifts, G/B variants just can't handle all the jank.

Except it's a 3 of in states winning builds of RW Aggro and I'm pretty sure that people need to get a clue before the continue talking about this card.
Clue #1: This card doesn't go in RW control. You have umpteen burn spells that are more effective than this, espcially with the use of mass removal that you should be playing instead of 1/3s.
Clue #2: RW Aggro isn't the same thing as Wr. RW aka Rw aka Sligh-if-we're-just-taking-famous-decks-and-then-applying-their-names-to-decks-that-play-the-same-color-manas-as-them
Clue #3: Respect the emperor and expel the invading foreign barbarians
Clue #4: It is a perpetual burn spell and wall in one card against 2-toughness weenies as well as a finisher against land-locking control decks.
Clue #5:
I see no reason for the dood to be in a control deck. In an aggro deck, you normally want to rush the opponent but he might be able to stabilize before dying. At this point, direct damage things like Orcish Artillery could come in handy because it's a

to my knowledge there was only one RW aggro deck that used artillery.... I would also like to point out though that mortipede was being run in a states top 8 decklist... because it happens to be a random top 8 decklist doesnt make the card good.

There were in fact 3 top 8 RW decks with 3 Artilleries maindeck: 1st in Queensland, Australia, 2nd in Pittsburg, 3rd in Texas. They were all identical maindecks (one card different in Texas, to be fair), and they were all designed by me.
Artillery is insane in this format. I just happened to discover this about a month ago.
sorry I didnt even know they had the full texas list up, and I only had the BoW list that won. but yeah needless to say, a man running artillery top 8ed the same tournament BoW won... there must have been a ton of good players.
austrailia is pretty much the same deal... sorry I didnt make it a point to see what won a random county in austrailia.
still though mortipede was played in more than 1 top 8 aggro black list....

LOL?! Mortipede? I thought it costed 3 and even then i didnt like it But it costs 4 DAM MANA XDDDD Its like a trash card, if not used in a really aggro deck (with a jitted critter in play) as a lure effect... and even then its not a star.
That was his point... Mortipede is trash yet it was played in T8 decks. Thus proving the arguement moot.

i'm aware you're probably just trolling, but are you seriously suggesting you can dismiss a deck that top 8'd the three states tournaments it was played at? if states is such weak competition, how many states-winning decks have you designed? it's easy to do, right?
Argument moot until an actual meta of tiers evolves as opposed to only one tier of 30 or so diffrent decks.
Tier 1 consists of Rock, Gifts, and WW/r. MUC, R/W Control, 4cc, Heartbeat of Spring, and Fungus Fires take up Tier 1.5. Wildfire, Battle of Wits, and a few others are Tier 2. Then there's a dozen or so randoms.
Yes, these tiers have already developed. No, you haven't bothered to look at States results to make sure.
