4 Festering Goblin
4 Hand of Cruelty

4 Hideous Laughter
4 Rend Spirit
4 Pithing Needle
4 Choice of Damnations
20 Swamps
Some explanations as to why you're running both rend spirit / hideous laugther on your main deck would be nice.
For the laugther, all your creatures save mind slicer have 2 or 1 tougness. You'd be clearing your own board for nothing. And rend spirit hits only the following cards (cards that are actually being played) in the current meta :
Kokusho / Frostling / Yukora.
Out of these 3, the only time you'd actually see some beneficial effects is by killing Yukora, and most people play yukora in MBC decks and only occasionally in BG / UB or MBA (which are archetypes you rarely see to begin with)
Choice of damnations is 6 mana sorcery and your mana base is limited to 20 lands with 0 accel, 0 manipulation and 0 searchers.
Take a good look at the forum guidelines again - and then post on the competitive forum.
forum guidelines are somewhere in the horde of stickies... lol... methinks that should be changed somehow. The sticky ideas are good, but not every single Official Thread.
Regardless, I must agree with bluedudes, the cards he mentioned are probably not a good plan. I'd also try and fit hypnotic specter in there as well, since it's an efficient creature with evasion that disrupts the opponent. A good package.
The argument I'll make for Laughter is that while it'll probably clear most of your creatures, it'll most likely clear all your opponent's too in the post-MR format. Also, you could sac one of your doomed creatures to save your Husk too (though I don't really agree with Husk here in the first place...I don't feel like a 2/2 for 3 is good enough). WW often plays Wrath of God. In this weenie-heavy format, Laughter will often be a Wrath that leaves you with 1 or 2 creatures, at the same mana cost.

Actually, the format is defined by T&N by far.
THEN comes MGA / RDW who has the best time outracing T&N to 20 damage.
As for MGA / RDW, here are the problems youll face :
MGA will have significanty easier time recovering from creature wipe then you will with eternal witness / deck thinners such as STE and / or woodelves. Once equipment + ascetic hits the field, your laughter is all but useless.
RDW is all about pinging / burning and dealing you some more damage with zozu. If the laughter clears the board, and you're both at the same life, the chances are, red player has no problem recovering / regaining the control of the board vs. Washu's list.
And WW doesn't "often run wrath" - it only OCCASIONALLY shows up on sideboards. I'll tell you what it often runs though - equipments (namely umezawa's jitte) or glorious anthem.
As for the rest of the control oriented decks - big red / ponza / MUC / blue tron - and T&N - which is the field's top competitor - they'd love to see you laughter away all your creatures.
for MBA the best removal spell is probably sickening shoal since it would allow early agresive moves that would allow you to both waste you mana to play agresive creatures and at the same time have a possible "free" spell in case you need to remove a threat outright. Aside from that the only other removal spell that is worthy is rend flesh
personally ive been running a MBA deck with Akuta, Born of Ash given its haste for a supprise attack and recilience when possible and Hand of Cruelty since itrs just such an excelent 2 drop (1st turn on with mox) and can just go all the way vs white weenie.

Actually, MBA's worst removal spell is probably the sickening shoal. If you want to use it by pitching a card, that means that one of your creature is hitting the RFG zone. This is something that you'd never want to happen when playing an aggro deck. And the format's loaded with control decks enough that you need as much creatures on the board as possible.
You're already running chrome moxes to accelerate your creature - you sure you want to further screw yourself with another pitch spell?
Moreover, what are the chances of Aggro deck - specifically MBA - running out of cards before control decks? The answer should be "almost every single time" It's such a poor creature to begin with - it has zero evasion, its cost vs. power ratio is poor and haste just means it can get chumped by the STE or Eternal Witness the turn it comes out.
I highly suggest that you reconsider your card choices.
I got to say... Shoal in an aggro deck has it's upsides and downsides... The upsides are that it doesn't interfere with the casting of your critters. Downsides, it usually costs not only a critter to use (mostly) but those critters don't cost a lot which means they don't kill a heck of a lot of stuff. I can still see it being played though, as it is often good enough to hard cast at EOT.
Although I have to agree with bluedudes... With moxes already being run, you're gonna have a tough enough time already in restoring your card advantage. Shoals might not be the best idea...
So I went 3-2 to barely top 8 at FNM and lost immediately to a Belcher deck 2-1 in which I only lost due to a misplay that I was too tired to catch (I had a Damping Matrix and O-Naginata'd Razor-Jaw out to his Charbelcher and Viridian Zealot with him one swing from death. I somehow let him sac the Zealot to kill the Matrix...whoops. The guy watching us play didn't notice either. He hit me with the Belcher for 22 that turn. Oh well.)
Observations about the deck. It sucks right now without the cards from 9th. Desecration Elemental doesn't need to be MB, and probably not in at all. Ebon Drake is a tough call. Blind Creeper is worth it's weight in gold. Your best first turn play is Mox, land, Blind Creep/Oni-Slave, followed by turn 2 O-nag equip swing. I just didn't get that either game against the Tooth and U Urzatron.
O-nag was a champ, Jitte either seemed to never come out or never do much. Honestly the cost seemed prohibitive at times. I want really bad to run Grafted Wargear with Mindslicer but I HATE to take out Jitte and after playing with it I CAN'T take out O-Nag. Really not sure what do on the equipment side.
I got rolled by Tooth and Blue Urzatron recurring Mindslaver. I smoked a Ponza deck, a somewhat similar MBA, and a weird Underworld Dreams deck that was 4-0 when I beat it.
I'd say Desecration Elemental, Ebon Drake, and Hand of Cruelty come out for Mindslicer and Hypnotic. I'd probably drop the Cutthroat and a Kiku's Shadow or Oni-Slave for a couple Putrid Imps also.
Here's my questions about it -- should it really lose horribly to Blue? Both games the guy got Urzatron and 3 Islands turn 6 and started recurring Mindslaver with a Reclaimer (or two the second game.) Both games I got him down under 10 and he pull the last Urza land. I sided in Damping Matrix and some discard and never drew any of it. Not really sure what I could have done against the Echoing Truth or two and then not having anymore turns.
Second question is what do you do with TaN? I barely threatened.
I'm sure the sideboard is bad; I haven't played in a tournament of any kind for over a year and just got back into the Magic after a few months off so I'm sure it could use some help.
I kind of read what was here of the thread a couple weeks ago and now I noticed it's died down some. Will 9th make this deck viable, and can it be consistent enough? I have so many thoughts on it but I know this post is way too long already..
I ran a deck very similar to this in an FNM of late. My build used Wargear instead of Jitte (which in playtesting was better) And the play feild was saturated with blue. I couldn't win to save my life.
persecute isn't too too hard on the curve i dont think... its slow, but its the same as cranial extraction. I'd advise against the use of sludge, as i feel persecute is much much better. By the time you get enough mana to play sludge, the opponent will have dumped a bunch of cards already. Turn 4 and 5 are when most decks start to play a lot of stuff, so it's not good trying to screw them over after they're set up.
Other than that... it looks pretty good. Me personally, I'd run Defense Grid over boseiju, since grid will protect your critters as well, and not be a pain in the butt in the meantime.
I take out terror and echoing decay against T&N, and drop in the wrench mind and cranial extraction. I tried persecute last week instead of the cranial--and took a loss to T&N becuase of it. Top decking a second T&N seemed so unlikely . . .
I would go up to 4 chrome mox and probably drop the energy chamber. I think the other big change I would suggest is moving out some of those Oni for creatures with less drawbacks since you only have a couple ogres in the deck. Ebon Drake, Raging Oni-Slave, Takenuma Bleeder, and several of the rats are good like Nezumi Ronin and Nezumi Cutthroat. Those lower-cost creatures will really help speed you up and thats what you need in this deck. If you can't play a creature till turn 4 you're probably in a lot of trouble.
Best first turn play would be a mox and a Blind Creeper or Oni-Slave, and let the 3 damage commence turn two (or maybe 6 damage with O-Naginata). In playing this quite a bit the last couple weeks, I think the absolute key is coming out fast, and 2 more mox and some 2cc creatures will help speed you up bigtime.
On my deck, I'm putting in the persecutes and a couple cranial extractions side, and also thinking about that one that lets you sweep swamps to make opponent discard...Sink into Takenuma? Make them discard 3 or 4 cards and once your guys are out mana isn't much of an issue.
Phyrexian Arena is unuseful in an aggro deck, which wants to either spend B less to get the extra card now or spend 3 on a theat/removal. Seeing as how aggro, especially in black, will lose cards extremely quickly, Kagemaro isn't the best choice for a creature in the deck. Raving Oni-Slave is dangerous, if the opponent is playing a deck fit to have a field day with it. White can Otherworldly Journey resulting in a total loss of 9 life before you even manage to deal damage with it. Blue can bounce, which can be just as annoying, if not more. You have 4 Mark of the Oni and 8 Demons, each costing 4 or more. How often do you have a Mark but no Demon in play?

Bushido triggers in the Declare Blockers - Fast Effects step, b4 damage is taken/assigned, so Hands become 3/3s and live through it (depedning on what it is blocking them/they are blocking - but that comes after)
on the topic of Cranials/Persecutes/Sludges - depends on what you play
Persecute on TAN usually leaves them with half their hand or so (depending - i havent had the chance to try it yet so i dunno) , therefore extraction or Sludge is better
Cranials take out ONE card and do it well, which i have no problems with, however, after that resolves they till have 56 odd cards left, roughly 30 of which probably do stuff to you.
Cranial for Tooth is nice and satisfying but it does nothing vs the colossus or titan or whaveter else it is they have in hand and can still cast due to the presence of Urza lands (why are they reprinted AGAIN?) - so best bet then is sludge (in my opinion) vs tooth and nail, keep extractions for muc tho to murder mel and magpie

"Between your faith, and my Glock 9mm....I'll take my Glock." -- End Of Days
Well, I havnt been around for a while working on this deck but I will just say that there seems to be many people here missing the point with MBA. I have tested every differnt kind of MBA deck I have found and the one that seems to work better in the current meta is a very very aggressive one.. You need to play the deck sligh style, as much damage as possible in the smallest amount of time.. MBA doesnt have the burn that sligh has but it can easier survive into the late midgame (the deck doesnt reasonably have a late game unless you have a weird game)
The deck should have about 23-25 creatures and they should be on a good mana curve that starts on 2CC (we have no good 1 drops and chrome mox is a 4of auto include) but includes a lot of 3 power creatures(about 17-18) to fuel the very power o-naginata. The mana curve should max out at 4cc or 5cc but those mana costs especially 5cc should be game winning ****..
the deck also needs equipment. The good choices are O-naginata, Jitte and Sword of Fire and Ice. O-nag should be a 3 or 4 of in all decks and wether to use jitte or SoFaI depends on your metagame. Jitte is good vs aggro and TNN and sword is better vs any red or blue deck. So thats pretty much a metagame choice.
Also the deck needs removal. Obv choices are terror and rend flesh but my personal preference has always been echoing decay for two simple reasons. It kills the annoying critters that you actually need to get out of the way and it helps mess up you opponents combat math. You dont need to worry much about big creatures as you will need to kick ass before any large creatures becomes a possibility.
Raving oni-slave: Its a awsome card that should be used as a 3 or 4 of depending on your meta but it could be sided out in some matches yes.
manriki gusara: This isnt KBC, jitte isn that dominant here but I can understand running this in SB if you dont run jitte yourself and jitte is very dominant in your meta. (it could be run as a sb anti SoFaI thing vs MonoG as well I guess)
Lightinng greaves. I have tested this a lot and it really doesnt improve your speed enough to be in there.. You really want to cast a creature instead.. (the only version that could benefit from this is if you run Desecration elemental as a finisher wich is a bad idea in the first place)
Nezumi Graverobber: Come on! This is outright terrible for the deck. You would only have enough mana to pay for the flipping stuff late game as early you would want to play creatures and considering you should never have a late game since you should have won or be dead by then its just ridiclus. Also the 5 mana cost for a creature is no good. 5 mana stuff should be gamewinning.. never ever use this card in this deck..
Shizos: 1 of it never hurts if your are running a legendary creature like yukora but several? you never ever want to be stuck with multiple copies of this as you already have a low land count and you already have card disadvantage with the mox.
sb discard: Mind sludge is to expensive. Cranials are possible as they are good vs some decks but persecute is also very playable as long as mono color decks are good in your meta. its really a meta desicion between cranials and persecute.

but im gonna be taking them out once cruel edict becomes legal
as for mindslicer... terrible, terrible! card i mean card of pure awsomenes by that.
Wickedwizards is right, chrome mox is superior in the deck unless you expect lots and lots of Muc and you really dont want both as they will mess up your first turns...

Mindslicer- Why do u run moxes and aether
when u could choose one or the other
and add more kill spells or more creature?
white weenie doesnt even run this many creatures[well alot of builds dont]
and i think i got enouth removal [i count 14 ]
and um yeah... did you notice i run the chittering rats / skull collector lock[ witch won me about 6 matches out of three fnms], its kind of pointless without the vial.
with vial- put rats into play durring their draw step after they draw.
without vial- play rats during my main phase, they draw and empty their hand, making it not lock them down.
thats the reason i only run 3.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
oh and im considering side boarding grave pact mainly against Tooth&Noob, my worst matchup, so i dont have to worry about trike/meph and can get rid of collosous at will. what are your oppinions on the card?
mindslicer: I have yet to see that the skull collector combo is good enough in this deck.. I really dont think the tempo loss it gives without the chittering rats is justifiable, especially when you have to run the vials as well wich creates a rather large tempo drop..
On the gravepakt, that might be a good idea. It certianly needs some testing to see just how effective it is (sundering titan still suck) but yeah its fully plausiblie..
The deck should have about 23-25 creatures and they should be on a good mana curve that starts on 2CC (we have no good 1 drops and chrome mox is a 4of auto include) but includes a lot of 3 power creatures(about 17-18) to fuel the very power o-naginata. The mana curve should max out at 4cc or 5cc but those mana costs especially 5cc should be game winning ****..
the deck also needs equipment. The good choices are O-naginata, Jitte and Sword of Fire and Ice. O-nag should be a 3 or 4 of in all decks and wether to use jitte or SoFaI depends on your metagame. Jitte is good vs aggro and TNN and sword is better vs any red or blue deck. So thats pretty much a metagame choice.
Also the deck needs removal. Obv choices are terror and rend flesh but my personal preference has always been echoing decay for two simple reasons. It kills the annoying critters that you actually need to get out of the way and it helps mess up you opponents combat math. You dont need to worry much about big creatures as you will need to kick ass before any large creatures becomes a possibility.
Raving oni-slave: Its a awsome card that should be used as a 3 or 4 of depending on your meta but it could be sided out in some matches yes.
manriki gusara: This isnt KBC, jitte isn that dominant here but I can understand running this in SB if you dont run jitte yourself and jitte is very dominant in your meta. (it could be run as a sb anti SoFaI thing vs MonoG as well I guess)
Lightinng greaves. I have tested this a lot and it really doesnt improve your speed enough to be in there.. You really want to cast a creature instead.. (the only version that could benefit from this is if you run Desecration elemental as a finisher wich is a bad idea in the first place)
Nezumi Graverobber: Come on! This is outright terrible for the deck. You would only have enough mana to pay for the flipping stuff late game as early you would want to play creatures and considering you should never have a late game since you should have won or be dead by then its just ridiclus. Also the 5 mana cost for a creature is no good. 5 mana stuff should be gamewinning.. never ever use this card in this deck..
Shizos: 1 of it never hurts if your are running a legendary creature like yukora but several? you never ever want to be stuck with multiple copies of this as you already have a low land count and you already have card disadvantage with the mox.
sb discard: Mind sludge is to expensive. Cranials are possible as they are good vs some decks but persecute is also very playable as long as mono color decks are good in your meta. its really a meta desicion between cranials and persecute.
white weenie doesnt even run this many creatures[well alot of builds dont]
and i think i got enouth removal [i count 14 ]
and um yeah... did you notice i run the chittering rats / skull collector lock[ witch won me about 6 matches out of three fnms], its kind of pointless without the vial.
with vial- put rats into play durring their draw step after they draw.
without vial- play rats during my main phase, they draw and empty their hand, making it not lock them down.
thats the reason i only run 3.
oh and im considering side boarding grave pact mainly against Tooth&Noob, my worst matchup, so i dont have to worry about trike/meph and can get rid of collosous at will. what are your oppinions on the card?
they will probbalbly replace exile.
On the gravepakt, that might be a good idea. It certianly needs some testing to see just how effective it is (sundering titan still suck) but yeah its fully plausiblie..
