I'll be back in a couple days with some update or something fun, if people still want that.
Sorry for the absence~
Yep, an update would be killer! I'm just about to get started in Standard and don't want to dump a bunch of cash into expensive cards that will just be rotating out in a month. I do have some cards seeing play in Standard like shocks and such (primarily a Modern Scapeshift player) but have no clue what to build. I posted in the Standard "What deck should I play" thread and haven't heard anything back. At the moment my budget would probably be between $100-$200 and would go up after Theros release.
this deck is made for the new standard format, and IMO is the most competitive deck you can build for the price.
Do you want a deck that will hand $500 decks their butt on a silver platter??
Well this is the deck right here. For the price of $10.08 you can walk this deck into any fnm and beat the crap out of almost every deck that is being played today. the only rare in the deck is Maze's end and it can be had for .50 online. other than that this deck is bad to the bone and is all commons and uncommons. If you wanted to suit this deck up and step your game to the next level I would add 4 Supreme Verdict to the main deck and take out 2 syncopate and 2 read the bones. Merciless Eviction can be had for less than a buck, but I would run the supreme verdicts if you could afford them. This deck is made for the new standard and takes advantage of all the new theros cards like
read the bones (amazing card draw)
defend the hearth
omenspeaker (for the SB)
Artisan's Sorrow (destroys artifacts or enchantments)
The great thing about this deck is that most decks right now have no way to interact with this deck. they just sit back and lose as you maze's end them out, or just crackling perimeter them out of the game. the only reason i would not run 4 crackling perimeter main, is because you are already running 4 read the bones main. Crackling perimeter is that good. Add those 4 supreme verdicts to the main deck, and go win a PTQ. *NOTE* this deck will maek you a better player since there are lots of decisions to be made when you play this deck. Also play quickly since if you are playing it right you will basically be digging in your deck every turn. let me know what you think!
Will Firedrinker Satyr price rise, if it becomes a staple in RDW, or will it stay, since it's the only deck it will be played in?
Hard to say. It really depends on how the meta changes as time passes. If aggro red decks stay strong in the top decks then the price will probably stay around $2.00 USD (give or take). If aggro red decks drop out of favor the value will lower accordingly.
I lost the first game, and even after sideboarding in the end the score was 5-4. He wins most of the time. I think that when I won those games I was lucky for good draws or he was manascrewed.
And I've just realized that this forum is lagging one year behind the current standard metagame. -.-

My playgroup: four people total.
We use the Legacy B&R list.
My meta consists of combo, control and some aggro / midrange decks.
My group uses proxies, so budget is not an issue. Because of this, things can get out of hand.
I was just wondering exactly how competitive some of these decks are? Can they legitimately compete with tier 1 decks or it just a waste of money to even attempt. More specifically, what sort of edge are you giving up by playing these decks? Can it be made up with a skill edge?
This is excellent. I'm very new to the game, and was given a Green base of 30 cards, and the majority of cars I've bought since are Green and White, so I am intending to start with Green and White. Although I have no Plains at all. I actually don't have most of the cards written in the Green White Stomp so I'll have to work on that. It's still very incomplete.

It's entirely feasible, as any deck can be beaten by any other deck at any time. May just be more of an uphill battle.
