Any way to build a budget deck around Consuming Aberration? I just play-tested your Dimir Onslaught deck against a Golgari creature deck, and a T6 CA, followed by a T7 CA, were absolutely back-breaking. On T7, the 1st CA was 13/13, by T8, both were 20/20. Feels like this card absolutely hoses typical creature-heavy aggro decks, and can probably win multi-player games all by itself.
@lohwengk: I'd like to think the Dimir deck features CA as one of it's main wincons. To build a deck completely around it would mean a lot more mill, which I'm not fond of for a competitive deck. I agree it's a beast, but w/o any evasion, it falls flat a lot of the time. One combo you can try is Dying Wish on it, then Sac it to Corpse Blockade for instant death.
@iamlilysdad: Thanks for the heads up! I meant to add a plains in there for access to more white mana.
I don't see how anyone pays those prices. I have another Boros Charm I'm about to put up for sale @ 2.00. Anything more is overpriced in my opinion. If I even tried to list it for $3, I bet no one would buy it.
Anyway...
I'm working on the Orzhov "combo" deck...gonna take some time though. I want this one to really work well.
PS: Check out my sig, now two chances to score!

@shinbatsu: unfortunately, even sites like StarCityGames and ChannelFireball are charging $3.99 ea for them (Boros Charm) atm. Seems like they are being run in any aggro deck that can support them. So $3 ea is almost starting to look like a good deal. You'll definitely sell them if you're only charging $2 ea. Even $3 I think you wouldn't have a problem.
I need some advice. I was playtesting Wiggles' Defenders of the Mill deck against a Golgari deck with Splinterfright. Defenders of the Mill successfully milled 16 creatures into the graveyard, including 2 Splinterfrights. Then it (Defenders) drew Rise from the Grave. If Defenders targets the Splinterfright, whose graveyard will be used? Golgari's, with 16 creatures in the GY? Or Defender's, with 0 creatures in the GY?

Well, it comes under your control and Splinterfright is the total in YOUR graveyard; Defenders, 0, yes?
The rules text on splinterfright refers to it's controllers graveyard, which in the case of casting rise from the grave, it would be yours. It then checks your graveyard to specify it's power and toughness, and because you have zero, it's a 0/0 and is put into the graveyard as a state-based action.
I'm just a rules advisor though. No time to get my L1 Judge cert.

I'm no judge, but that's what I'd say- just like taking a Runechanter's Pike (for example).
Side note: I'm kinda surprised that it's not gone for infinite mana combo. That's my preference for Axebane. I do like some of those other bits. Rise From the Grave on a Dimir player's Consuming Abberation...
In your killswitch deck, when if ever do you unleash your thrill-kill assassins?
Depends on the board state. If I'm in midgame, and have removal to spare or I just wiped their board with Mizzium Mortars, I'll drop TKA to get a clock started (although a slow one).
Also, if I've whittled their life total down over time, and I need to get in the last 2-4 damage, I'll drop her unleashed and try to get in the last few points. It helps when they play blockers and you can remove them 1 for 1, then keep that steady damage through.
Most of the time, you will drop her as a 1/2, then use her to block and trade with attackers to stall for time vs aggro.

I've been playing your Gruul Thirst for Combat deck and it's been a blast. It's really versatile, with answers to lots of stuff. I'm new to Magic and it's nice not to get stomped for once. Thanks for sharing it.
@arduous32: yeah I'm running it maindeck in our playgroup, and I love how explosive the deck can be. something as simple as a bloodrush slaughterhorn on wild beastmaster with a few other creatures can really put the hurt on your opponent.
Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you like my work!

Been thinking about a cheap FNM deck since I might get the chance to play again soon, and I have always been a Gruul fan. Shin's Gruul deck looks fun, but I was sorting through my rare bin and saw my old set of Splinterfrights and started to think "Bloodrush... Splinterfright... hmmm..." and started going from there. With the idea of coming in under $15 I started storming up lists. This is one I am considering.
Exploits Bloodrush, and sometimes a critter dump from Faithless Looting, into ammo for Splinterfright, Cagebreakers, and to empower Wreath of Geists, a card I have never used, ever. Curious to see how it works here (my budget answer to Rancor - even though I have them, they are pretty pricey for this purpose, plus if Wreath doesn't fit here, well...)
Another pet card I like is Alpha Authority, which also fits Gruul, and the amusement factor of a Wreathed Alpha Splinterfright with 4-5 creatures in the bin is rather amusing to me. 10/10 Hexproof, trample, and can't be blocked by more than one critter, so no gang blocks to stop that smack. Plus a possible bloodrush buff, and boom, pain.
Cagebreakers can be a nice buff, too, and almost makes me want to find a way to get Beastmaster in this deck, with the Bloodrush, possible token mass, etc. Needs more tweaking no doubt, but I'm eager to see if it works. Lack of removal is worrisome, but not sure what I would trim.

Just trying to make use of knowledge I've recently gained here, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Is this an aggro list, or is it some kind of ramp/combo list?
If aggro, I think Wreath does not fit, because it is NOT an early game play. I've tried it in an old mono-green aggro list. Even exploiting Bloodrush, best case for it is: T1 Wolf; T2 BTE, Faithless Looting to put 2 creatures in GY, Wolf attacks for 1; T3 Wreath for +2/+2, Wolf & BTE attack for 5 with extra damage from pumps.
If ramp, I'd try to find space for Skinbrand Goblin. That way, you can have this goldfish: T1 Wolf; T2 BTE, attack with Wolf, pump with Goblin & Viper for 4; T3 2/2 Splinterfright, Wolf & BTE attack for 3; T4 Splinterfright mills 2 creatures into GY to become 4/4, cast Wreath for +4/+4, attack with Fright, Wolf, BTE for 11 + whatever pump you can get for game.
Of course, I could be looking at your list all wrong, in which case, I hope you will correct me.
I think i will take the time to tweak the decks i have already submitted, and i have two new ideas that i want to share as well. I've been offline playing modern, which is extremely competetive, but i'm back home to budgetting now! (not like i've been missed, lol)

Just wanted to post up a slight variant of my "Azorius Skies Lockdown" deck that I've been tweaking to help my buddy prep for his first FNM. (budget style of course!)
