man, Instigator Gang?? I had that idea too and actually maindecked him at States but I found after every Game 1 I would side them out, usually for Conscripts.
Hey!
I'm playing with this list and i'm going to start testing between ash zealot/pilgrim but like the dude said maybe the full potential of ash zealot will be unleashed with gtc =D
Anyway, this is the list, please rate it if you want.
I really like the idea of the pilgrim, it is an interesting idea. But i also agree that Ash Zealot's full potential will prob be shown in Boros at Gatecrash.
I'm really excited to play Boros after Gatecrash hits, but I am wondering if people think that Boros Humans is still gonna be the way to go. Right now, it feels like the reason to run Humans is for Champion of the Parish and Cavern of Souls. After we have Sacred Foundry to work with, Cavern won't be as necessary, and I could see the deck losing the Human theme. Just wondering where other people see this going in the future.
Regardless, I'm gonna pick up my Clifftop Retreats and Foundries now.
I didn't see it anywhere in the thread (but I only skimmed.) but I am going to suggest you guys try out Stonewright, which I originally didn't think was good. I tried him out in a RDW variant and found out that he is actually excellent, giving you something to do with your excess mana on turns that you don't have a spell in hand. The deck really does need a decent mana dump, and he's the one.
See Conscripts is just a better card to fill in than instigator i think.
This is wrong. Instigator Gang wins you the game against Miracles and other drawgo matchups. Conscripts is much better out of the board in the appropriate matchups, but Instigator Gang is by far the better mainboard card.
Hey guys... i may be a little slow (keep comment to self about that) but i just realized a major problem this deck has going for it.... and that is sweepers. once sweeped im ****ed. Any ideas on how to stop a sweep with something like this?
There isn't really any protection. The only thing i've found useful for board wipes or bounces is ajani and playing only what you need to remain a threat. If you have a paladin bonded to something, there isn't too much of a need to unload the others.
Other than that, i'd be eager to hear of other responses to board wipes for boros colors.
Do you guys find yourselves with enough red mana for Stonewright? When you're trying to drop Inquisitors and Captains turn 2, I can't imagine him doing much with the current manabase, especially with Cavern being colorless for his ability.

Im not sure i quite understand the question, but i believe i have plenty of mana to use stones ability, (usually about 3-4 red)
Iv gone 5-0 with this deck recently. I have not encountered any sweepers yet though because my enemy is always dead by turn 5 with nothing on the field due to Orings, fiend hunter, or my many burn, steal spells. So im going to update my list and hopefully i can get some feedback from you guys, thanks.
I'm going a similar route with my deck although I really need to play test it but am currently lacking caverns and clifftops. (foolishly traded my playset of caverns recently to finish off building two other decks)
Hey guys, new to the forums - but since I play boros humans on MTGO, I figured I'd contribute.
slayers' stronghold is a 3 of in my deck. On a decent hand, I put them in range of 5-10 health by the end of turn 3. The sweeper hits, and allows even gather the townsfolk to win with the aid of the slayers' stronghold. In fact usually my games end by turn 4 with a decent hand (champion of the parish, followed by gather the townsfolk and Silverblade paladin - or they stall out by turn 4, and they have to play defense the whole time, knowing that if they attack (after a sweep) they open themselves up for death come anything with slayers'.
Here is my deck. It's far from perfect. 23 lands seems to be the best, but will be WAY better come Gatecrash, because I tend to mulligan a lot.
I'll probably replace avenger and angel oveerseer for pilgrim's
The conscripts plus slayers' wins games after board is stalled, or thrag comes down (they usually empty out lands, leaving them open due to too much confidence)
The problems I have are almost ALWAYS due to mana. 23 lands seems the perfect amount so that I have my 4th land for a turn 4 hellrider. I have to mulligan way too much though, but I'm sure once gatecrash hits, that'll happen less and less. The silver daggers come out often enough to make a difference with all my first strikers/double striking. Can end games when my precinct captain comes out after a sweeper, and is 7/2 with sword and slayers'.
Due to the abundance of sweepers I have been conditioned to not unloading my hand (unless I know i'm playing G/W aggro or something). I have seen people sweep my two tokens from gather the townsfolk due to slayers' and daggers.
Finally, the burn seems about right. Sometimes it's a choice of do I wait for the sweep and burn for 5 Brimstone Volley, or drop the hellrider/silverblade. Decisions...
I used to run Odric, Master Tactician in SB, for Hellrider. The board stalls tend to be in my favor though because a hellrider out will put them in range of burn usually. And having 3 other dudes out for Odric to work best is sometimes difficult. Riders of Gavony also works, especially against spirit tokens - but I haven't run into them enough to worry, especially with sideboarded Flames of the firebrand
I'm hoping for Lightning Helix in gatecrash - and another two drop that's red/white. Ash Zealot might be ok, but something tells me, I'll get what I want soon enough.
Lastly, azorious charm is brutal if your missing your third land. If I am, I try to be conservative (especially if they take the 2 dmg to have enough land for it on turn 2) and wait for a third land.
Anyway, long story short - I have used this deck a ton - with varied success. I'm too concerned with mana to actually play consistently in tournaments. But, it's a ton of fun and I get lots of compliments for how fast it is. It's even more fun when after an opponent loses round 1, they concede after seeing my Reckless Waif come out first... Or just as swell, people use spells when they shouldn't just because they don't want her to flip.
So i ran into this little idea of Ajani today as a card to add in, but i also think my deck is too fast to use him. He does however pump up my humans and make them bigger, especially when they are paired with silverblade paladin. Any ideas or suggestion about him being added or any other cards to be added, *deck on first page.
I like your idea using Ajani, Caller of the Pride. Out of the board against decks you know are running sweepers, he seems a good fit. As you mentioned earlier he lets you extend reach a bit without dumping your hand into a sweeper, plus survives the sweeper himself.
The only straight-up answer I can think of for Supreme Verdict is Rootborn Defenses , although it doesn't do much for Terminus
Another slightly less optimal idea is to maybe run a 1-2 of Angelic Overseer post-board. If she's out with a human, you at least get a free 5-point swing after a Verdict, and is easily able to get back online by dropping another human if you don't over-extend.
Just my 2 cents as anti sweeper tactics
Although your basically screwed by Terminus. Although (locally, at least) I have noticed a slight shift in favor of runing Verdicts over terminus due to the drop of Zombie popularity as well as the uncounterable clause.
Thank you, and yes i thought Ajani would be good for reason as that. Also where do you play locally that verdicts are more in favor rather than terminus? (i like the idea of this happening :D)
Angelic overseer is cool and all but shes also 5 mana so is it better to have her or a conscript n steal there board to kill them?
Took out 2 Reckless Waif's and added in 2 Angelic Overseer's. No testing with the Overseer yet but hope they will be better than the waifs, because i have not been able to use the waifs 3/2 form even once yet. That said a 5/3 hexproof indestructible body when a humans out is going to be nice, the only thing im worried about is the 5 mana cost 3WW. Anyone else making or with any thoughts about Boros please post them.

Instigator Gang is actually not bad considering the amount of first strike our dudes are packing. Conscripts just always seemed better in my matchups.
