The idea behind this deck is that, with access to all five colors, there is access to an answer for any problem. I'm not great at mana bases, so feel free to critique that. This build is trying to be ready for an aggro meta, but I've been thinking about Pillar of Flame in place of either Decay or Dreadbore, moving the one I kick out to the sideboard. I also still need a sideboard, suggestions very welcome. -Jack
Geist is a a great card but doesn't really fit well with the style of the deck. It will either be used as a 2/2 blocker or get blocked itself and deal 4 damage and be done. Its hard to see this deck able to push 20 damage through. You are really counting on 5 cards as win con's and it might not be enough in this meta.
Glimy makes a great point. The new green Mana defender+ Fog bank could actually be quite good against aggro. Plus ramps you. Seems better than farseek thats for sure.
How do you expect to survive against aggro decks?
You do nearly nothing until turn 4 (3 with a farseek), and that assumes you have (one of three) boardwipes in hand.
I like where this is going, but you need something more reliable, especially with such a volatile manabase (remember, we don't have fetches). Try playing around with the defender subtheme, it is surprisingly strong in this set.
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?
Well, I've got early removal in Decay and Dreadbore. However, I was considering Pillar. Maybe remove the Rakdos'Return for them?
Geist can finish a game quickly if I've taken control, plus is cheap, so I can keep a kill spell open, or a draw spell. Plus, it's good against other control decks. However, I agree, it's probably suboptimal. Any suggestions? And I also have Vraska and Sorin as win-cons. -Jack

I can see why Vraska would be underwhelming. I don't have anyone to play test with, so I'll take your word for it for now. I may still try her at FNMs. Why not Armada Wurm? It seems like a really solid finisher to me. I like getting Think Twice in there, but I like Return in the deck for control match ups. Blustersquall doesn't appeal to me, but I may try it in the side. -Jack
Deathrite is kind of the staple in this deck because of all the draw and discard your going to be doing, he uses your GY to also punish. He ensures the turn 4/5 Rakdos drop and his ping ability is also pumped by Gisela. Thoughts?
Okay, I want to try and approach this from a different angle I've been out of Magic for a while, so I don't know all the cards so well, nor do I know the best decks. I'm hoping to get some help figuring this out. Zombies is expected to be a problem, and I know Pillar of Flame is a great help there. What other cards are there to fight the top decks? Let's build this deck from the ground up. , Jack
Okay, so I've been looking at lists and ideas for other competitive decks. From what I can tell, there are gong to be three major deck types: aggro, headed by Zombies and Tokens; mid-range, with any combination of non-blue colors; and control, every combination containing blue. I think the control decks will be weak and not played very much for a while, so I built my list focusing on beating aggro and mid-range. Here's what I've got. Again, I'm not good at mana bases, and this one will be tricky, so I'm not bothering yet.
I realize how awful the creature base must look, but sideboard against control decks will be to transform into Frites. The discard is there with the, in our deck, defensive Lotleth Troll and Izzet Charm.
If we can get a really solid list together, I'd like to make a primer and post this in developing competitive, so I'd love all the help I can get. -Jack
have we considered 4-5 color walkers? I have been bouncing the idea of 4 color walkers with white for board sweeps to allow you to stabilize. Could be an interesting approach to the deck?
I've been tinkering with a 5-Color Walkers deck while accumulating the cards necessary to rebuild my Battle of Wits deck that's been showing promise. Obviously, there's some iffy card choices and there's lots of room for improvement, but here's what I have so far:
So far, Martial Law has been amazing in play, especially after a wrath. The deck only really stumbles when it has no turn-2 accelerant or turn 3 Healer to stave off aggro. Mana Bloom has been surprisingly good, but I keep wanting to replace them with Chromatic Lanterns, but I don't actually own any so I had to make do. Olivia has been absolutely fantastic when she show up, I want to move the second to the main, but haven't decided what to replace with her. Liliana may look odd with only 6 swamps, but she's there for the free shuffle, mana fixing, and recurring removal. Her +1 works really well after using Jace's -2 or a Terminus on a flooded board. Bolas just takes over the game after landing, and not a lot of decks have an answer to Door, especially mainboard. I've been really happy with the Sideboard, Heroes' Reunion is good against a large number of the Aggro decks, and Blasphemous Act completely WRECKS anything Selesnya-based. The Guildmage is the only really iffy card, I almost want to replace it with Curse of Death's Hold and/or Witchbane Orb, since the deck is kind of a dog to moderate disruption and can just flat-out lose to a topdecked Bonfire. Curse of Echoes is another consideration, especially good against countermagic.
I think I've found the correct thread for my door to nothingness deck now. Here's what I've been playing with for a while. I've been finding it ridiculously enjoyable, as in the way the games tend to take shape seems utterly silly, but I've loved every bit of it. The way I've tended to maintain control is through volatile rigs, as there's a chance that they can wipe the board of everything 4/4 and below if they get hurt. Here's my deck list - I call it volatility.
What do you guys think about this deck list? The mana base needs quite a bit of work still. I need more green/x shocklands for that turn 1 abundant growth.
I went for a balance between slight ramp(chromatic lantern, farseek) and 5 color fixing(chromatic lantern, abundant growth). I think we can handle aggro fairly well between Supreme Verdict, Terminus, Lingering Souls, Centaur Healer, Detention Sphere, Dreadbore, and Jace. Cyclonic Rift can help early or pwn late. Rift and mass removal win with Vraska's last ability, which is pretty easy to hit. Else, we have plenty more planeswalkers. If we must, we can ride Thragtusk and soul tokens to pound town. Dreadbore is pwn against opposing planeswalkers and in general. I want another chromatic lantern in there, but not sure what to take out for it. This will give us good consistency to hit 5 mana by turn 4.
I could see something like this:
T1: Drop abundant growth
T2: Lingering Souls or Think Twice or Farseek
T3: Centaur Healer or Chromatic Lantern or Jace/Sorin or Supreme Verdict
T4: Jace/Sorin or Thrag or Vraska or Tamiyo or Supreme Verdict
My matches consisted of RUG/Bant Flash nearly all night friday, on Saturday it was Jund, Grixis, Reanimator, Jund, BantFlash.
I'll be making a few slight adjustments as needed. The mana base is flawless, imho. I think I was off a color a turn longer than I would have liked, and I was flooded once. There are some wacky card choices so I will throw a few reasons out there. Any other questions just ask.
Yes AEtherling is as good as you want it to be. It's the best 7 cost creature I've ever played.
O-rings are ran because of Renounce the guilds in the board. I was trying to avoid losing to Geist, or Aristocrat. Was generally a good card all night, although, I might reduce to one main.
Only one snap, as I had a hard time wanting to run more. It's not really the permission control I'm used to, but it keeps a decently clean board state most of the time.
The sparkmage was for what I thought would be tokens in the massive amount of rites decks I would be playing, but seems I only matched vs one, however, it makes for some decent combat tricks with resto / pillars.
I really don't think advent has a home in this deck, however, I mean, it always just seemed like I wanted something else. Seems too good not to want to run it.
Deathrites > Purify the grave. It just has multiple purposes and functions well against control.
Tamiyo was for rites as well -.- which I didn't see hardly, however, I did resolve one on turn 5, after he turn 4'ed an angel. Worked very well. x)
I'm not quite sure if I will be continuing playing magic seeing as how I am semi retired, but if I do, I will update here.

+1 sorin
depending on what you did with sigarda (if +1 sigarda, -1 sorin)
Also, blusterquall is very good for stalling.

with Delver and some form of Mid range deck (Bant or Naya) basically the remnants of last season.
I would also expect,a Weenie deck either red or white to make an appearance.
