So I've recently been toying around with the possibility of playing a deck featuring Master of Cruelties. Now the only issue I see is what type of deck should he be run in? Jund Midrange or Grixis Midrange? I currently am leaning more towards Jund as it will allow me to ramp into him faster and end the game much quicker than Grixis. However, I also would like to see what your predictions are for the upcoming meta and how well suited jund or grixis may be in the coming months and decide from there.
When I think of Master of Cruelties, I think of Heartless Summoning. Of Grixis and Jund, I believe Grixis has the better card selection for a heartless deck.
Probably not so otherwise.

While I agree heartless is not a bad choice I was trying to build it so that there would not have to be any changes post rotation if possible
Except Master would just get chump blocked forever with Heartless Summoning
there is that but let's forget the whole Heartless plan and place him in either a ramp/burn(jund) or a controlled burn(grixis) deck and decide which one might be better
I think Grixis will be better place for him. (he doesnt even "look" like he belongs in Jund <_<)
You have so many options of clearing blockers before you attack with blue or counter a spell thats about to kill him. I can see this being better in Grixis for sure.

If you want to play in standard is not possible make a block deck with good results, i try to do it for several color comopositions but any good standard deck tier 2 kills any of my block constructed deck. A good way to go with that idea can be use only cheap cards from Innistrad and wait for the rotation.
However I think Grixis control will be the better than a Jund Midrange, but Jund is quicker, the thing here is if you want to play control or not.
He feels like a control finisher, and with all the Sphinx's Revelation hate coming from the new set of cards I do believe there is a competitive Grixis control decks somewhere.
The way his ability is worded he interacts with trample very oddly. Like he can't actually kill you by himself because he always sets your life to 1 and does no combat damage, but if he's blocked and gets trample and a pump like from wolf run he won't reduce the opponent to 1 he'll just do the normal amount of damage relevant to his power.

"A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus: 1. What am I trying to say? 2. What words will express it? 3. What image or idiom will make it clearer? 4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect? And he will probably ask himself two more: 1. Could I put it more shortly? 2. Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?"

Ya, but with deathtouch, first strike, and wolf run he can kill anything that blocks him as long as you pump him enough
So basically, you kill tons of creatures until you can play Master of Cruelties, so you find a free space to attack freely. Finish up with a burn spell and you can call it a day. Lightning Mauler is there so you can get him to strike quickly. And Exava... well... because she is EXAVA, what else you need to play her?

Certainly, black has tons of creature removal, and red has a lot of burn. THis can be something to start up with:
4 Blood Crypt
4 Dragonskull Summit
8 Swamp
7 Mountain
Creatures(10)
4 Lightning Mauler
2 Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch
4 Master of Cruelties
4 Toil // Trouble
4 Searing Spear
4 Pillar of Flame
4 Sign in Blood
4 Devour Flesh
4 Dreadbore
2 Ultimate Price
1 Murder[/MANA]
