It's not really "answered by removal" because it still drains 3 and gains 3 when it comes in to play.
Those standard environments were different to the current one. Even if you crackling doom it, Siege Rhino is still gain 1, opponent loses 3. In this environment, Siege Rhino is clearly the most powerful card in the format.
Normally i'd agree but given the extreme weakness of the BFZ set, aside from Abzan colors, and all the good stuff rotating out it's looking more and more like if you aren't playing Abzan you are at a serious disadvantage.
Someone of the most awful misplays and just magic 101 failures in these past two rounds, it's so hard to see what decks are actually good/bad. The esper player should have won and G/W lose, and now the hardened scales should have won twice but lost haha
The commentators laughing aloud for 2-3 continuous minutes at Awaken blowouts pretty strongly summarize the trepidation I had for things like Rare Awaken-Cancel.
Yeah, Evolutionary Leap is a really insane card in the matchups you want it in, the only things holding it back were the prevalence of Elspeth, Sun's Champion (which invalidated any ground threats whilst simultaneously providing inevitability) and Dromoka's Command
I think this standard will be built around strong synergies rather than jund-esque style decks running the best standalone cards (see: abzan variants of last standard).

I started laughing with them and couldn't stop too
Some of these gratuitous 4th-color splashes in Abzan seem to be falling short. The Abzan splash red never had a Crackling Doom matter. And Anderson's Abzan splash blue never had a blue card matter.
Damn those Dromoka's Commands. Really hard for red to puncture through. It basically can answer a creature AND burn in the same turn. So back breaking...

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
Jace should have been on 2 from here, not 3. The Flooded Strand in the yard was the discarded card he used to flip Jace. Immediately flipped and flashback an Utter End. Used the Jace -3 on following turn as well for another spell.

I noticed that as well, was wondering why the commentators didn't mention it.
He also didn't get rid of his Hangarback Walker after that Tragic Arrogance. Sloppy play sure does seem bad when it happens so frequently in your favor.....

I believe that tragic arrogance is worded is that you can choose an artifact got stay. Even though walker is a creature, it is also an artifact. Hence how the siege rhino and walker survived.

But it's so much easier to imply someone's a cheater than to double-check what the cards do.
Are people still seriously dense enough to say that enemy fetches won't be in the set? We were explicitly told that Wizards will not be doing half-cycles of lands in block sets. We got the allied fetches in Khans, couple Wizards' statement with other hints, the enemy fetches will be in Dragons. You have to be a complete idiot to believe otherwise.

EDIT: got the name wrong
Update: He just did it again. Watch when he cracks his fetches.
At least it's not UW Cawblade.
I will be more tired of seeing Hangarback tbqh.

his deck is ultra vulnerable to disdainful stroke and negate. it can be beat.
