Kent Ketter uses Jace flashback 2 times in a row. Opponent didn't notice.
What is the point of the judge sit there? of the camera?
bah
disgusted by this way of playing the game
and did u notice the face kent ketter made when he activated it the 2nd time ?
i think he knew it and cheated on purpose
He tweeted about the mistake and admitting to not having played with Jace before today.

One of these day I have to get myself organizized.
Why is this 4c CoCo guy not playing Rattleclaw Mystic instead of Beastcaller Savant? Seems like a far superior card for his deck...
I would guess because beastcaller savant can tap for all 4 colors for the creatures in his deck mainly white and can also be used if it comes into play with CoCo to tap for mana or attack. Rattleclaw might be better then the savant but that would be why he is running the savant.
The commentators laughing aloud for 2-3 continuous minutes at Awaken blowouts pretty strongly summarize the trepidation I had for things like Rare Awaken-Cancel.
I started laughing with them and couldn't stop too
Awaken seems like a downside rather than an upside to me. I don't want my damn lands turning into 3/3s. Who's expecting that to be relevant on turn 11 or whenever you have the mana to use the alternate cost? If you're playing decks that want to cast 6 mana counterspells, I feel like you should be packing something a little better as a finisher than a 3/3 vanilla creature that stone rains you.
Completely wrong way to evaluate awaken. First of all you can put counters all on the same land with multiple awakens so they are a larger threat, or spread it over multiple lands depending on the game state. Secondly, with enough lands in your deck you don't probably need that 11th or 12th land in play and just being a dude is better. Finally, the cards on their own are reasonable enough to play, you can pick your spots to awaken for the best value. Games come down to top decking resources. This is a way to answer something and then present a threat, which is basically always good.
Bring to Light decks by both Gerry and Kent looking very impressive. The most interesting part is that they are entirely different decks though.
I'm very surprised to see the lack of control decks, at least on camera. The one we did see was piloted by a terrible player. Esper Control in particular feels very strong currently.
I hate 5-colour decks, and I fear this Standard is going to be full of them.
It's only early but it is looking like Wizards has broken standard with fetchable dual lands.
5 color Bring to Light toolkit deck is looking near unbeatable game after game. 5 lands producing WUBRG every single time.
Unbeatable? The 2 notable players have lost a combined 4 times, some games were close and some decks are easier to tune than other. Looking solid? Sure, Unbeatable? Not quite.
A number of 1 to 3 Infinite Obliteration in main and board = Name Rhino, Jace, Mantis rider etc and that signifacntly neuters the deck. Formats slow enough that you can afford to turn 4 or 5 Obliterate and it will really wreck house.

I said "looking" unbeatable. Takes weeks to establish consistency.
Infinite Obliteration is a horrible card. Value decks aren't combo decks, you can't beat them by stripping threats. I'm going to guess you're fairly new to the game. It is often new players that think these extraction effects are busted.

Good to know you speak in hyperbole and have no clue what you're talking about. Good luck being behind for the next 6 months

Ehh sorry, but surgical extraction effects have never been very good. Slaughter games which was uncounterable didn't see very much play.
Slightly incorrect; Cranial was quite good in Kamigawa standard but only because it was repeatable and recursive with the gifts engine. Cranial your cranial was often the big decider of a match early on.
However, for this Standard, yes extraction effects are quite weak, even being one step ahead on curve is not enough.
I do like that the best Bring to Light brings is summoning rhinos. Nice work BFZ. I didn't expect a completely new archetype with brand new stuff right away at the first tourney but it's clear that you have to have a very strong argument to not play rhino.

I am excited to try a mostly-lands deck though.
5 color deck now 9-1
Edit: which apparently lost to what I presume is the deck list Thompson posted earlier this week on SCG.

Lucky they didn't get caught because it's an incorrect game state which gets both players a warning.

We will rebuild.
As much as you want that statement to refute their point, you should learn to consider other's advice
I hope something good happens to you

Ireally hope we get some more deck techs soon.
