If you have free mana EOT and an anticipate is in your hand you should definitly be firing that bad boy off. We have alot of conditional use spells in our deck and this helps smooth your draws so that you get mostly what you need vs drawing dead cards.

One issue that UW has is a resolved Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. You may want to cast Banishing Light, but even that card can be easily dealt with (via counterspells, Thoughtsieze/Duress, Vault, and Ugin). Plus Light is a little awkward if you also play your own Vault or Ugin.
In order to play this deck truly effectively your weapons must be patience, and skill in piloting it. Yes that can be said about many decks, but with this deck in this meta even more so.

Gameday this weekend I was 1st after swiss and we split the top 8 payout. Didn't care for the mat so wasn't concerned about it.
I too have to sing the praises of Resolute Archangel. She was a lifesaver (literally!) in every match I boarded her in and I'm considering moving her to the main. The only match I didn't side her in for was against esper, but every game I drew her yesterday I was very excited to see her.
I also was testing out a 2/2 split on End Hostilities and Perilous Vault as a way to better deal with planeswalkers and things that can be recurred from the grave. I really enjoyed having perilous vault as it helped me get rid of Fleecemain lion after monsterous and getting the dragons gone for good so they couldn't be brought back with haven.
I feel like the deck is pretty darn good against everything except esper right now, but that is strictly for how good Sulumgar is vs me. That card single handedly kills all of my win conditions in elspeth and secure the waste. Gotta go back to the drawing board to make that match a little better pre board.

G1:I know what he's on and luckily I win the die roll. He doesn't have a play until t3 with a foundry street denizen and at that point I had a solid hand and dropped an ojutai and clocked him while leaving up counter magic.
G2: He leads off with a T2 Dragon Fodder which trades with my T2 Raise the Alarm. I stabilize after a T4 Dig into T5 End Hostilities while sitting at 5 life just out of stoke range. I drop a morphed hidden dragonslayer and counter a command to my face and manage to gain enough life and end the game at 15 or so.
Matches: 1-0
Games: 2-0
Round 2 vs Atarka Red
G1: I keep a super sketchy 6 lander with a Dromoka and get punished. Almost stabilized at 4 life after a timely wrath but get stoked the next turn.
G2: I keep a respectable 7 and he doesnt have a T1 Play. I raise the alarm to his fodder and counter a command after a swiftspear hit. At 4 Life I scry off a land and see Elspeth with him having 0 cards but 2 goblins and a swiftspear. I bottom the elspeth with only dig in hand and a morphed hidden dragonslayer on board. He topdecks Berserker and slams it going for lethal. I had block the berserker and flip it gaining 3 life and buying myself 1 more turn. I draw island for turn and dig to find Surge+ Raise the Alarm. He slams outpost siege the next turn on Dragons and his swiftspear eats a surge and tokens trade with my raise. I topdeck dissolve and he hits a stoke off his draw step and I counter it immediately to find an ojutais command. I cast it on my turn gaining 4 and bringing back hidden dragonslayer. I stabilize and win with the slayer.
G3: Stabilize with an Ojutai and lifegain lands. Ojutai is a house and so is Secure the Wastes which let me blow him out and kill his tokens. Almost punted by playing dromoka and only having raise in hand. Right into Harness by Force.. Was at 8 and he just had enough. Luckily I had Raise the alarm which he conceded to.
Matches: 2-0
Games: 4-1
Round 3 vs Abzan Value Town
G1: I draw lands and not much else and die horribly to satyrs and den protectors..
G2: T1 Thoughtseize into T3 Seize my vault and Mastery of the Unseen put this game away pretty fast.
Matches : 2-1
Games: 4-3
Round 4 vs Jeskai Tokens with Riders
G1: My dromoka does a solid job gumming the ground and he eventually kills it with double stoke and gets me with a horde of monks and goblins
G2: Ojutai Gummed the Ground and led to a long draw go game. Eventually I EOT Secure the Wastes for 7 and he taps out for his own Secure for 9. I swing with everything and I drop an Ugin minusing for 0 and putting the game away.
G3: Classic Nullify Mentor into Dissolve Ascendency. Game goes super long and he manages to resolve a dig and cruise while I only resolve 1 dig. Again Ojutai does a solid job gumming the ground. He EOT Wastes for 8 and my hand was Radiant Purge, Last Breath, Wrath. He swings for 8 while im at 15. I block 1 and take 7. He has Double Stoke. Kicked myself for not last breathing a token .
Matches: 2-2
Games: 5-5
Moving Forward:
I might include another green land. maybe another temple of mystery over radiant fountain to make it slightly easier to cast it. My meta varies pretty heavily but its pretty good in my testing vs Control so far
Yeah he seems like a great pearl lake replacement except he doesn't have flash, but does gain an upside that the opponent has to try and kill it on their turn. He's not as resiliant as ojutai but the lifelink and can't be countered are pretty sweet.

Interesting tech with the Frost Walker. I could see that being good against control on the play. Get a 4/1 on turn 2 while they're still dropping taplands. By the time they can downfall it you have counter magic up. Worth a try I think. If you run the command also a relevant target to bring back.

Just remember that having counter magic will not save Frost Walker. Once he get's targeted, his ability triggers and he will be sacrificed before the spell targeting it resolves.
Oh I didn't think about that. That does make it considerably less awesome.
Like previously said, you usually get at least 1 if not 2 hits in before they downfall. And sometimes (depending on how threatened they are by him), they might kill him on your attack phase, so you can play something afterwards. My best starts are when i side in frost walkers and get 2 in my opening hand It doesn't kill both if one is targeted with bile blight, so its pretty sweet.
Round 3 - Abzan Aggro (2-0)
I kept using life gain to ignore his attacks until I could sweep the board, then countered all his threats, and gave myself a Narset emblem. Had to Dig like hell to find some win conditions before he could find any more threats; he had managed to resolve a Sorin that ended up saving him for a while due to life link. Resolved Elspeth, Resolute Archangel, and Ugin before he finally just conceded the game after like 30 minutes (honestly he probably should have given up earlier). It was taking a while because I didn't want to give him back stuff from Banishing Light with Ugin and didn't have any other convenient way to deal with Deathdealers or Sorin, so I just started looking for ways to not have to minus Ugin. Game 2 was basically again the same type of crap; stall out into End Hostilities and chain 4 Dig Through Times until we got control of the board and win cons out. He was not terribly pleased.
Umm, if you had an Emblem...how did he cast a Sorin? Was that a mis-statement or a mistake during the game?
Round 2 Vs Abzan Control (2-0): the game 1 take plenty of time about 30 or 25 minutes from the start of the game i'll cast a Pearl Lake Ancient and he gives me the game, in game 2 he keeps a "good" hand, but draw too late the white mana source.
Rond 3 Vs Abzan Control (1-1): same as the anterior round but the first game took more time, game 2 he threw me 3 Thoughtseize & 1 Duress, but mi top decking was helping me almost until the end when he beats me via elspeth emblem + 3 tokens on the last turn of the fifth extra turns, if was able to draw the fourth Radiant Fountain i would win ( i was in 8 life).
Even though you asked someone else, I'm running it to and I love Resolute Archangel. Against some match ups she makes the game almost unloseable, and in others where your life isn't important she is a really effective beater. Against anything running red I want her in my 75. I've had her in my main for the last two tournaments and loved her.
One questions I have had: is with the rise of Esper in popularity, does that make Secure the Waste really bad now? I end up playing against this match up several times a tournament and with them having sulumgar and bile blight I feel like the card is just very meh. Anybody else feeling the same? If so what would you put in its place? I'm thinking maybe Myth Realized as a spell that can get down early and be very hard for them to remove, yet not be dead in the non-esper match ups. Anyone else have any suggestions?
I'm sure this has been answered maybe a million times, but why not myth realized? Yeah it dies to removal, but it you drop one early, it seems like it could be a real killer, especially for aggro matchups, and it survives board sweeps...I'm sure people have play tested it I'm just curious.

I play Myth Realized in my B/W Control deck and it's awesome - even though I don't have counters to protect it. I imagine it'd be better in a blue-based control deck.
At first I gave up on myth realized because secure the waste was just much better as a secondary finisher. Now that Sulumgar is seeing heavy play I'm testing Myth again. By the time you animate it to swing you should have some counterspells in hand to stop them from trying to kill it. In theory it seems good.

This is very true. Might be worth running one of the two main and the other in the side. Probably just depends on your meta. I go to three or four local stores tournaments and each only has one or two atarka red players surprisingly. We have almost all esper dragons and green red dragons so my meta is really weird right now. We have alot of players (it is houston) so I was very surprised after the PT that my meta didn't have more aggro since RDW won.

I have been trying to keep UW alive, at least until the new set hits. I was playing esper dragons for a while, but I personally prefer two colors for control at this time. Although the deck is lacking a straightforward removal spell like Hero's Downfall, I still feel the alternatives that white offers is still very competitive. Here is the list I have been testing:
