I ran a deck that started out as the exact same build as the SCG player. My buddy and I figured that the Ornithopter/Ensoul combo was good but at the same time, there are only 8 targets for the Ensoul in the deck so we changed it to other 1cmc creatures. I piloted it to 3-1 at FNM last week. Here is the deck:
I wasn't ever able to megamorph the Lurker or bestow the Siren but they were good to have for a turn 1 play and pretty much always attack for 1 turn 2. Obviously Master and Shorecrasher are the best of buds but having the possibility to exploit the Sorcerer at flash speed was nuts!
Only lost round 1 to Mardu goblins because Rabblemaster is hard to beat, too fast! After that, I beat Izzet Dragons, R/G dudes devotion and Jeskai spells with Ojutai Exemplars and other prowess guys. It was hard during all of the matches to come out strong but stabilizing around 5-10 life was pretty common. In the final 3 rounds, I only dropped one game and that was game 1 to the R/G dudes deck. SB Encase, Wall of Frost and Profaner were all-stars.
Now I need to figure out what we can add to make it more competitive to the super fast aggro decks.
I like the idea of collected company but it seems like an awkward card to splash for especially if that's all you'd splash for.
Reclamation Sage is in the sideboard, but you may be right. It really comes down to whether or not Collected Company is good in this deck or even good at all, which I think awaits to be seen. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
I currently splash green (for Icefeather/Yasova and sideboard Sagu Mauler/Naturalize effects), but doing so for Collected Company is not a route I had considered. I like the theory behind it and may give it a shot myself.
I hadn't considered the Icefeather, Yasova, or Sagu Mauler, I'll have to look into those as well. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty around collected company, so I think it's worth testing to see how it performs.
@herkamurjones: I really like your deck because it's a bit more controlling than a normal blue devotion deck, but still has an aggressive curve. I'm curious about the frostwalker as he seems a bit out of place here considering you're not playing Cloudform. Icefall Regent is looking really strong, too, how have you liked it?
The Frost Walker plays really nicely with Master because it is an elemental but I have found that it is too easily disrupted. In testing before FNM, my buddy cast Valorous Stance to give it indestructible until EOT but that targeted it so it died pretty sad moment in his short life. I was thinking that dropping 2 of those for 2 Quickling might be the trick because early, you can use it as a combat trick and bounce a lurker or siren and then trade with a X/2 to save the siren for a bestow or the lurker to megamorph, or block with one of the 1 cmc guys and bounce before damage just to keep the 2/2 flyer for beats next turn.
The Icefall Regent is nuts! I was able to keep a Swiftspear tapped down for the rest of the game after landing him on turn 5. Also had a Hall of Triumph out so he was a 5/4 flyer that wasn't going to die to R/G removal anytime quickly.
frost walker's point is to eat up tons of spells. If your opponent played stance on YOUR frost walker, that's awesome. They could have used that on your regent or made one of their own creatures indestructible if you played a trick or to block a big master. it can pretty easily get up to a 6/3 with hall and master and will end the game if its not dealt with
I know what you are saying, it's just hard that it not only dies to removal but also any targeting spell! That makes it hard for me to want to play it. Might have to channel my illusionary self from the M12 days playing Phantasmal Image and it's other friends. Might make it easier to swallow the "dies to any targeting spell" notion.
every time you play frost walker and it eats a spell master of waves rides in a little easier
It's definitely worse in some matchups, but in creature light decks it's really good.
Also thinking about running monastery flock in the side to 'combo' with profaner of the dead in annoying abzan matchups. Blocks and bounces seige rhino with a hall in play!
I also just played against a ug devotion deck and it seeemed pretty good. It splashed green for kiora's follower and collected company. kiora's follower is real good if you hit it on curve for obvious reasons, and collected company played out alright. My opponent cast 2 in g1, hit a shorecrasher elemental and nothing else, and then hit some little guys. I think it's a great card to have as a 2 or 3 of. You don't really want to see it until t5 or 6 (or 4 depending on if you have a follower out for 'ramp') but after you've played out your hand it's real good to keep pressure on.
This is the list that i have been testing. Collected Company have been amazing. In this deck it is the best command in the format. Sometimes you can live the dream and play an active god instant speed, you can use it as an instant speed nullify or bounce spell. I am currently testing silumgar's scorn. i really wanted a 2 mana counterspell. Icefall Regent is there to help activate silumgar's scorn. It helps that its a 4 power flier that can act as a removal spell.
I decided to take out Ensoul and co. for a more "classic" mono blue devotion deck.
The only things I need to decide now are:
- Putting Hard Counters in the main board (Dissolve, Negate, etc)
- Putting Anticipate in the main board (The old MUD decks did not have any draw spells)
- Picking the right creatures to put in (Like Omenspeaker)
- How many Thassa? Seems like most lists today have 2 only, old MUD had 3-4.
- Is Icefall Regent a staple (as a 2-of)
- Still testing Cloudform but it's been great especially with Gudul Lurker and Stratus Dancer, which is one of the reasons I want Omenspeaker for that scry setup).

Quickling with Frost Walker works great though. They target Frost Walker, you bounce him with Quickling. Works because Quickling doesn't target. Get your 2/2 beater, keep your 4/1 beater for another day, they lose a spell (whether direct removal or otherwise). Not too shabby, all things considered.

1 - Yes, I have loved having Negate but only as a 2-of. Also Silumgar Sorcerer is a fantastic addition, plus its 2 devotion!
2 - YES, YES, YES! Anticipate is a must have in the deck, it is probably the best blue draw spell since RTR or even INN with Think Twice.
3 - I'm on the same boat, what creatures to use besides Master, Shorecrasher & Thassa.
4 - I would start with 2, as she is good but you will likely want to wait to cast her until turns 5-7 to leave up counter magic mana.
5 - Icefall Regent was a house. I am considering upping to 3 (most likely leaving 2 main and 1 board) because it was so good vs big beaters or even little pumpers.
6 - Cannot speak to this, but seems like it could be a solid inclusion.
I've been toying with this idea and took a kind of "mosquito bite" approach with a bunch of small, evasive dudes. However, I'm not sure if it still qualifies as "devotion" since I chose to use Master of Waves to keep the curve low.
Collected Company has been bonkers all the time. The math says the deck hits 2 creatures >80% of the time and at least one >95% of the time. Collected Company also can be attempted as a bounce spell or creature counter. Thassa's Rebuff has felt good as a 2-mana counter for all types of spells that works as a Mana Leak. This is a tempo-aggro deck but Silumgar's Scorn is too easy for the opponent to pay for given that the Icefall Regents are cut. The dragon was just too slow and usually I have uses for my mana besides just slamming the dragon. It does still seem good out of the sideboard.
How has Deathmist Raptor been performing? There definitely seems to be enough morph/megamorph to make good use of his ability. I might add a few Thornwood Falls to help cast the Deathmist a little bit more reliably.
Bident of Thassa seems really sketch in that list. You're not playing little unblockable dorks like Gudul Lurker or Triton Shorestalker, so I'm not seeing how you can get much value from it. I guess you can force their creatures to attack and then make favorable trades with Deathmist, but that seems like a really slow option.
As an aside, hotlikedimes mentioned the use of Monastery Flock. Not only does it negate Siege Rhino attacks, but having flying is very relevant as it can also block a lot of the dragons floating around (e.g. - Stormbreath dragon, Thunderbreak Regent, etc). It may be useful in more controlling lists.
I saw a similar deck posted on Reddit/spikes and then several days later by Saito in his Dragons brew session. Both those decks were different from one another and mine is slightly different than theirs, using polluted delta, both icefeather and kiora's follower, and a sideboard adjusted for my meta.
Most of the creatures are evasive and have some sort of utility making Bident of Thassa useful. I have 27 targets for Collected Company which I think is a good number to have a high percentage chance of hitting two per casting.
The land base gives me a 90% chance of hitting an untapped blue source on turn one for Hypnotic Siren and a green source on turn 2 for Kiora's Follower and Icefeather Aven. Lucky Kiora's Follower starting hands will hopefully lead to playing one of the ten 4 CMC cards on turn 3 (Bident, Master of Waves, Collected Company).
The sideboard takes advantage of Collected Company with Reclamation Sage and Hornet nest, which are for enchantment removal and ground aggro respectively. The rest of the sideboard is geared towards various match ups, Kiora for heroic and/or control, counters for control/midrange, mirror mockery for abzhan and midrange, quickling for spot removal decks and reality shift for midrange.
Here is the deck I ran for Monday night Standard. I went 3-1-1 losing only to a jund aggro deck, but the matchup was extremely close.
Overall thoughts on new DtK cards:
1. Shorecrasher Elemental - This does exactly what it promises i.e. 3 blue devotion on an efficient threat. I initially wanted to play 4 of it, but could only procure 3 copies for the night. I actually really liked this number because I found that I wasn't too fond of drawing too many of it, but I don't think it would be wrong to play 4.
2. Silumgar Sorcerer - This guy was impressive to say the least. The amount of versatility it provides is insane, especially if you're playing Collected Company. Flying, flash, potential Remove Soul, and 2 blue devotion to boot. What more can we get in a card? I feel he deserves a couple maindeck slots with some more in the side possibly. He's a tad bit weaker against control decks so that is a consideration.
3. Collected Company - This card blew my mind. I only got to cast it about 6 times throughout the night, but it was a hit all but 1 time. I just straight out won a game by hitting Thassa and Shorecrasher. This card plays very nicely with exploit creatures, so the amount of options it provides is really powerful.
4. Stratus Dancer - This is a card that impressed me when I saw it, but I only got to play it a few times throughout the night. I could see the count of this card being reduced to 2 or 3 maindeck as seeing multiples of this card might not be so great. This card combos nicely with Cloudform, however, so I may have to tinker with this a bit.
5. Mirror Mockery - Wow! This is a card I was surprised worked so well. There's an obvious interaction with Master of Waves, but this card was a fantastic blue pacifism as well. The thing about this deck is that it generally can attack freely due to flying or unblockable with Thassa so making it tough for your opponent to backswing is awesome.
6. Sidisi's Faithful - I found myself siding this card in quite a bit. It's a nice early blocker and can act as an Unsummon off of collected company.
7. Gudul Lurker - This card was mediocre for me. It added early blue devotion and got in a couple points of damage, but I really was not impressed otherwise. Megamorphing it is too slow for my tastes. I'll be replacing this card for 4 Sidisi's Faithful in the main, however I think it will depend on which list you're toying with. Deathmist Raptor and Bident of Thassa work well with Lurker so I don't think it would be incorrect to play him, he just wasn't too great in my deck.

I did well with my deck at FNM. Went 3-1 and then split top 4.
I won against U/W heroic, U/B mill (yeah I know), Jeskai burn/aggro. I lost to Abzhan Midrange in a very close match.
Allstars:
Silumgar Sorcerer
Thassa
Shorecrasher Elemental
Collected Company
Hornet Nest
Duds:
Hypnotic Siren
Master of Waves (Crazy, I know)
Almost all of my sideboard except Hornet Nest and Disdainful Stroke
I'm going to overhaul my sideboard for next FNM, but I'll probably give my same main deck another go. If anyone is on the fence about trying Collected Company, do yourself a favor and go for it! Putting things onto the battlefield at instant speed before blocks or at end of their turn is a very powerful effect!
I could see how Master of Waves was a dud in this deck because Collected Company doesn't hit it. In the mono blue shell I have been running, Master is the top dog along with Shorecrasher. Sooo many tokens!
With Mono red win at PT, Wall of Frost is going to be big in the sideboard. I think that 0/4 U drop will be critical in the MB as well, though I am not a big fan of it. However, the x/1 toughness is a concern right now.
I could see how Master of Waves was a dud in this deck because Collected Company doesn't hit it. In the mono blue shell I have been running, Master is the top dog along with Shorecrasher. Sooo many tokens!
Good point. Although, I did have him in hand often enough, but the deck is quick enough it reminded me of playing him in modern merfolk... you look at him and you're like "Oh cool, here is Master of Waves, but I can make these two guys unblockable and just win the game this turn". I did cast him once against the mill opponent, just because.
I'm going to leave him in the mainboard for sure because Kiora's Follower into Master of waves for 2 tokens on turn 3 just looks too powerful to pass up! So, he'll get another week to prove his worth. He was such a beast for me last standard it is hard to let him go.
Just 3-1 the evening daily event beating UW Control, losing to UB Dragon control, beating Gruul devotion and GW splash red devotion. Against the green and red decks including mono Red we have a favorable match up with the exception of Jeskai if they are running mantis rider but still very winnable.
What can we do to sharpen up the black match ups?
If you have an questions on my main board or sb please feel free to offer feedback and I will rationalize why I have the cards there and offer sideboarding advice that has worked well for me so far.

this is where I am at atm, going to run a couple of daily events, will report back
I did well with my deck at FNM.
I'm thinking of adding Nullify in the Sideboard.
Edit* nvm, I keep forgetting about Encase in ice

What can we do to sharpen up the black match ups?
If you have an questions on my main board or sb please feel free to offer feedback and I will rationalize why I have the cards there and offer sideboarding advice that has worked well for me so far.

You don't run anything that benefits from you playing monoblue. Without any Thassas or Masters, what is the point?
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
