In the mirror, if you have a choice of threat into open mana or pass with a strike/jet, you pass. Everytime
I don't agree. I'm in the camp of forcing them to have the bolt. If that's the case then I gained three and I'm fine with that; if they don't have it and I get to untap with it then it's off to the races. On the flip side, if I don't have the bolt and my opponent plays a seeker, I'm in hot water. Especially if my plan is to run out a turn 3 mantis rider/rabblemaster.
The point is, if they have the bolt that's fine and we move on, if they don't we create value. Just saying that they have it every time is just not true.
You get a lot more value out of bolting their Mantis Rider and then playing one of your own when they're tapped out. You hit them with it and then force them to remove it. I'm a big proponent of playing this deck more proactively, but risking setting yourself back in the mirror by recklessly playing your threats is asking to be out tempo'd.
This is my train of thought as well. Its a lot better if you jet their guy untap and play a threat. Now they have to answer urs during their turn and you can play another. Thus why I like seekers on the paly and not on the draw.
I'm in agreement with the above. When facing a mirror deck you play the waiting game and wait for them to take the first step and tap out. If you have enough burn you just start ticking away at their life on their turn and continue to do nothing on your turn until you can bring a threat out safely.

On the PLAY i can agree with this but on the DRAW your turn 2 seeker will be hit by an end of turn Magma Jet or Lightning Strike into their turn 3 Mantis Rider. Unless there are some poor draws on their part, you'll be behind most of the game.

I've been considering going to the GP as well (leaving from Houston). If I do I'll be sure to drop you a message.
Non haste creatures just seem really bad on the draw.
I think loading up on Stormbreath Dragon on the play is good. Also adding Negate and Disdainful Stroke seems fine as long as you have card advantage to go with it as when you run out of counters and your opponent is drawing cards off Courser you fall behind very quick.
I think there is a version of this deck that can play big creatures and still be very controlling.
I've currently been playing with a more, I guess you'd call it midrange variant of the deck and I'm currently loving it. While the curve is a bit wacked (15 3 drops and an avg cmc of 3.46, it's been working quite well. However, my local meta has about 4-5 good players. I have noticed I have a bit of trouble against the Mardu Removal.deck that sees a lot of play in my area (4 Rabbles, 4 Butcher, x Raise the Alarm + removal).
I'd love some feedback, whether good or bad. It's in early development, so it's a bit off atm (I feel it is). I took some ideas from the Mardu decks and tried to incorporate it into Jeskai colours.
Hordeling has been amazing (but debating on using Raise the Alarm instead to lower the curve a little, but then I'll lose synergy with Rabble), as have Wingmates
I'm not sold on 2 Keranos in the main, but when he's dropped, unless there is an answer, my winrate is above 85% and the game is usually done if he sticks around for 2-3 draws.
I would like to fit in a couple of counterspells into the board, but not sure if I should
I would like to fit in some non damage related removal (Banishing or similar), but not sure here either
My current decklist. And I do plan on going to GP San Antonio so I would like to start making up a sideboard plan.
[deck]4 Mantis Rider
4 Goblin Rabblemaster
4 Seeker of the Way

3 Flooded Strand
4 Mystic Monastery
3 Temple of Epiphany
3 Temple of Triumph

1 Mountain
3 Shivan Reef
3 Battlefield Forge
This is just about my exact list, except i run -1 Gods Willing, -1 Magma Jet, +1 Banishing Light, +1 Sarkhan and I've been just crushing it online lately. Close games, of course, but pulling out matches at a great rate. Good luck at the GP, i'll be interested to hear how it goes.
EDIT: Oh, but change you mana base and add another Flooded Strand, since you are playing Digs there is no reason not to, it helps Dig so much. You should maybe drop the mountain.

So you're running 16 creatures plus a Sarkhan then?
So you're running 16 creatures plus a Sarkhan then?
Yes, i really like being slightly more threat dense. Even with that setup, i sometimes am starving to draw a finisher, but not as often as before. I think this deck likes three awesome 5 drops. That way, a few can get killed and you arent drawing dead.
I'm still only playing 24 lands, even with three 5 drops, and just hope to curve there with scry help. Its been working out ok, but this deck loves having 5 lands in play so much, i almost want to play 25 lands and use the scry to scry lands away if need be. Not sure yet, 24 just feels right.
Went 3-2 at fnm. Losing to Temur and Azban Midrange
Azban I got flooded hardcore game 3 after he mulled to 5. Game 1 Hushwing single handedly won me the game.
The Temur deck....welll... I dont know how we beat this honestly. If feels like they are playing the same game but bigger. We have seekers, they have knuckleblade. We have mantis, they have polukranos, we have rabble, they have rabble, we have countermagic, they have temur charm and stubborn denial.
Notes on what im cutting. I dont like keranos that much lately. So I will try cutting him from the list. Narset is still a close watch and she is extremely Bi-Polar but she does some broken things. Suspension Field has been amazing and I likely want more. I like End Hostilities to keep the green decks honest. But it may be right just to cut the end hostilities for 2 more suspension fields.
How has everyone been boarding lately?
Im also super interested in testing hordling outburst.
I've been playing and tweaking this when i get the chance. It regularly takes first at the LGS against things like Junk midrange, Mardu Control, Mardu Tokens, Jeskai Control, Jeskai Tempo, U/B Control, RUG Midrange, Junk aggro, Homebrew outlast, Sultai Control, Villainous wealth deck, U/R Robots and Green Devotion.
Originally i was running more temples but started to reduce it for a faster start. Was running 2 Mystic Monastery, 4 Temple of Epiphany, and 2 Temple of Triumph, but opted for the faster painlands and it's been worker out so well for me since i felt 8 lands that enter tapped was too much of a disadvantage. I kept a play set of Mystic Monastery and 2 Temple of Epiphany after some testing and i like to be able to more reliably hit both blue and white early game so i have kept them around.
I know a lot of people dropped Monastery Swiftspear in this deck, but for some reason i just can't find a real reason to pull it out yet. It has haste really good turn 1 and the majority of the deck boost it's power even if it sneaks in just for 2 damage that's two damage i won't have to deal later on with a burn spell or another creature.
Seeker of the Way is a good card and fits in with me running all the pain lands and has often saved me when playing against the other Jeskai Tempo that pops up on occasion, but it feels clunky in my hand on occasion i feel on turn 2 i would rather do other stuff unless i got no turn 3 drop
Magma Jet vs Stoke the Flames to me normally it should lean towards stoke with no exception, but i have found that with Chandra, Pyromaster sometimes it's way better to have the extra scry just before i ult her. I have watched my opponent's use her just to find there stoke or other burn just out of range and miss out on all there burn by 1 or 2 cards just enough to make me always want to have one in hand if possible before it get's to that point.
Why no Brimaz, King of Oreskos? probably has to due with the fact i traded mine for a playset of Snapcaster's, but even before that i just didn't quite like him enough in this deck. Probably has something to do with the requirements for turn 3 are normally Blue, White, Red i would not like to have it be at Blue, White, White, Red on top of the additional 3 drop.
Not sure what to say on my sideboard it's targeted for my meta alone for when i play so not sure how effectively it would be for anyone else, but if anyone want's i'll break it down on how and what i use it for.
I was gonna play this at the last GPT a few weeks ago, but my friend who has been using this was supposed to show up so in a last minute effort i ditched my control deck and built a pseudo pod deck which ended up fourth. I'll probably have to deal with that since a few people took the deck list home. Did enjoy that deck though the looks on peoples face's was priceless.
Sorry for the last minute ramble i would really like some suggestions and constructive criticisms to help me make this deck even better. I've been lacking on keeping up with the standard scene for the last month due to school work.
EDIT: the 1 MISC card in my sideboard is honestly because i'm not sure what to put there my sideboard as it is currently has pretty much helped me with every deck so i've not been sure what to put in that spot yet.

Mmm I like your deck. How is your matchup against Rabble Red/RDW? How is it against W/x Heroic? They seem like they could get in underneath you quickly, and their mobs would get out of burn range quickly as well.
23 land is ballsy in a deck with 4- and 5-CMC planeswalkers. You can't tell me you've never gotten mana screwed with a configuration like that
So you said, "i would really like some suggestions and constructive criticisms to help me make this deck even better." I would love to help, and so would other folks (I'm sure), but you didn't really give us any information about what you are struggling with. Is there a matchup that you're having difficulty with?
I played at a local GPT yesterday with the list I've mentioned above a few times. The version with no Brimaz, no Gods Willing, 2 Stormbreaths, 1 Sarkhan, 2 Hushwings, 1 Disdainful Stroke, 1 Banishing Light main, 2 Digs main.
I did really well swimming through a sea of Abzan, but came up short losing in the finals for second place. Which is the worst place to get when only the winner gets 2 byes at the next GP and there were no other prizes! Well, except for some packs that I'll probably never crack.
Round 1 vs Abzan Aggro - I think this is a good matchup for us. I was able to keep pace with killing his Raksasha's and Lions early in the game and then able to get out ahead with Dragons and burn to finish him off. I'm pretty sure a few Rhino's landed, but i had good tempo to survive the 6 point swing and keep beating. I won 2-0.
Round 2 vs Abzan Midrange - This matchup is a little tougher, but Hushwing did its job and shut off a Rhino on his turn 4. On my turn, i decided to jam a Mantis Rider and attack for 5, but i was then mostly tapped out and I hate it when a Sorin comes out as a response. Luckily he didnt have it. I dodged Sorin sticking all day except once, which is pretty lucky, but I Disdainful Stroked at least 3 throughout the day. I won this match 2-0 and dont remember it being close, even though it is usually a hard matchup for us.
Round 3 vs Abzan Constellation/Midrange - This guy had a strange build with Herald of Torments and Boon Satyr's alongside a few Eidolon of Blossoms. Of course, all that paired with Rhino's and Sorin makes for a tough deck. I thought i was well matched up and online i crush the BG Constellation deck, but this guy just had too many Rhino's. I lost 1-2.
Round 4 vs Abzan Midrange - I won the first game in relatively un-rememberable fashion and the second game he had to mull to 5. I think SB was a beater in this one again. People seem to waste their downfalls on an early creature and then simply dont have it when Dragon comes down. Starting the race at turn 5 isnt a bad plan. I won 2-0.
Round 5 vs Abzan Aggro - we drew into the top 8.
Ended up 3-1-1 in the swiss for 5th seed.
Top 8 Round vs Jeskai - Finally a non Abzan match! And I think my mirror is strong, even though I dont use Brimaz. Either did this guy, who also opted for Dragons and Hushwings, surprisingly. But, now it makes sense how he made top 8, too, because those cards are simply way better than Brimaz against Abzan. He had to mull to 5 game 1 and i crushed him. Game 2 he just kept a bad hand, i suppose, and even though i was forced to play 2 taplands in my first couple turns on the draw, i was able to have the better spells and win pretty easily. He admitted he only ran 23 lands and was having mana issues all day. 2-0.
Top 4 Round vs Abzan Aggro - This was the same guy as the very first match, so I knew what to expect. He squeaked into the 8th seed and won against the #1. He busted me pretty easily the first game with two Rhinos, but I took games 2 and 3 with solid sideboard play and Stormbreath. In game 3 i stupidly tried to stoke his Anafenza while he had mana up to Abzan Charm her with +1 counters. So now trying to deal with a 6/6, all I could do was play a Dragon and not attack. Luckily, he didnt have downfall for it, and next turn i was able to play a second Dragon and then start beating to the win.
Finals vs Abzan Mid/Constellation - This was the same guy as the 3rd round, so again, I knew what tio expect. I really think this matchup should be fine for us, but i kept a bad hand in game 1 and let Eidolon of Blossoms draw way too many cards. I shouldnt keep anything with no Jets or Bolts... but i thought i couple temple into a few. Game 2 i won by holding up Strokes and getting in with Mantis Riders. Much easier on the play, but I lost game 3 to too many Rhionos again. We can only disrupt so many of those f'cking things. Rhino's, all damn day.
So yeah, thats my tourny report. I really like my maindeck and board against Abzan and think it performed well. More than half the field seemed to be on some sort of Abzan variant... and they all play Rhino's no matter what else the flavor.
I personally like chandra and god's willing as 1-ofs. That would enable you to possibly run 2-banishing light. 1-banishing like and the 4th stoke. 2 mainboard hushwings.
Im personally testing Hordeling Outburst to see how it is.

Thanks i've been working on this since Khans was released before that it was a Rabble Red deck. Oddly enough we don't have a Rabble/RDW in our store on most FNM since the person who plays a Mardu Aggro rarely comes right now sadly enough. Last time i had the chance to play that deck i was running U/B control. So far though i've not had too much of a problem with W/U heroics normally i will either kill the creature in response to a enchantment or return it to the top of there library once they pack it with more then burn can kill off.
I've been enjoying less land honestly the problem for me was not the lack of it but finding the right color combo. I think in turn it helps that the magma jet help me smooth out my draws other then help me get a stoke for chandra if someone let her live that long. I have been screwed a few times though luckily i can count it on one hand after all my playtesting. Funny enough i've found out that the painlands i really only tap for color generally on turn 1 and 3 for a Monastery Swiftspear, Mantis Rider, and Jeskai Charm with very few uses for color between that depending on the land i've gotten. I would encourage people to try them over temples.
Knew i forgot something important haha my bad sorry about that. Ya I've been wondering if anyone has figured out additional ways to deal with the Siege Rhino/Whip or Meandering Towershell/Whip. Without a complete overall on my sideboard since right now it basically destroys my meta except that combo. Sometimes it feels like a Remand without the card draw and that's all i need to push them that much closer to lethal.

Hehe there it is! The problem!
Against Whip decks you pretty much have to stop them from landing/activating a Whip. Counterspells such as Disdainful Stroke and Negate are very good against it, but the problem with using them is that we have to keep mana up for them from turn 4 onward or we risk getting blown out.
I don't know what your sideboard looks like, but 2-3 Erase therein is also a solid choice. In addition to being useful against Whip, it hits other stuff like over half the GB Constellation deck and any Coursers you may encounter. So, in short, I would use:
I would only play 1 Erase because it can be dead and thats not what we really want, and if it is dead and you draw the 2nd one you feel pretty bad. I like the 1 as insurance against constelations and the jeskai combo deck. Thats the only matchups I bring it in for. Also against mono black aggro since they have like 12+ enchantment creatures generally.
This is my current list im playing in a Magic-League Masters
I kept in the 1 end hostilities just to keep the green decks honest and it offers us an out. Suspension field has been AMAZING for me. card is so good, yea it can backfire but i'll take the risk.
I also made the move back to banishing light because sometimes we jsut need to answer a permenant.
As you see im testing Hordeling Outburst which was recommended a few pages back(they also said with wingmate roc which I may go to eventually but not yet)
Its been pretty good tbh. The synergy with rabblemaster is pretty solid, with jeskai charm is good. Its a threat that doesnt "die" to downfall, its really good at blocking most of the creatures in the format since few have trample.
So far its been pretty amazing actually. It allows another treat. Only thing that answers it straight up is bile blight and drown in sorrow and I will take that trade every single time for multiple reasons.
The thing I dont like about 2 erase in the board is it takes away from other slots. So far I havent had a problem with Whidisi really. Jeskai charm is/can be a blowout against them unless they have hornet queen. Our strikes kill sidisi, our charms make jokes out of their whipped cards and sometimes they just have too many come into played tapped lands and we are able to steal the game. They dont have nearly as much life gain as azban. I think our problem matches are Def azban/temur Temur being the more difficult matchup but burning them out is a real thing unlike azban.
As you see im testing Hordeling Outburst which was recommended a few pages back(they also said with wingmate roc which I may go to eventually but not yet.
I'm glad someone else is having success with Hordeling! Surprisingly it's helped my Azban matchup a little (due to how well it works with blocking the Rhino when you have Charm, which happens more often than you'd think...).
And apparently I've changed my name: Ugh

Lightning Strike, Magma Jet, Jeskai Charm, Seeker of the Way are just all horrible cards against Siege Rhino decks. Burning players out when they have life gain is just impossible I've found. I do more damage by grinding with Prognostic Sphinx and keeping up cards to discard for the hexproof.
I'd love some feedback, whether good or bad. It's in early development, so it's a bit off atm (I feel it is). I took some ideas from the Mardu decks and tried to incorporate it into Jeskai colours.

I would like to fit in a couple of counterspells into the board, but not sure if I should
I would like to fit in some non damage related removal (Banishing or similar), but not sure here either

Disdainful Stroke
Negate
&
Erase

Hordeling Outburst is an interesting choice. I'm interested in hearing how it works out for you!

I'm glad someone else is having success with Hordeling! Surprisingly it's helped my Azban matchup a little (due to how well it works with blocking the Rhino when you have Charm, which happens more often than you'd think...).
In my actual list I play elspeth over the end hostilities. That may or may not be wrong.
