Welcome! Are you a down on your luck planeswalker? Looking to defeat your enemies with cash to spare? Then look no further! The Thrift Shop offers a wide arsenal for any budget-conscious 'walker!
What is the Thrift Shop?
The Thrift Shop is the spiritual successor to Shinbatsu's Budget Deck Challenge HQ thread. As such, those familiar with that thread will probably be familiar with this one. Basically, it's a place for us to brew cool decks on a very tight budget. The rules and template haven't changed very much.
Rules
1. The deck must be Standard Legal. Currently, that means Khans of Tarkir, Theros Block, and Magic 2015
2. The deck must be $15 or less using TCGplayer "low" as the metric. (Lightly Played or better.)
*If you have a sideboard, then the total cost of the deck + the sideboard must be $20 or less.
*Timestamp your deck, as prices fluctuate.
*Basic Lands are free!
3. These decks should not be casual. They should be aimed at being FNM playable.
If you modify your deck, you must adjust the prices and timestamp accordingly, this includes the entire deck, so be aware that prices may have fluctuated since you first built the deck.
Required Formatting
The format should be the same from deck to deck. Please stick to using this format.
Background
Tell us about how you built this deck, and what it plans to accomplish. How does it win? What are the synergies, key plays, or anything else we need to know prior to making this deck and piloting it. Also note why you selected certain cards for the deck.
Feel free to add in an explanation for the sideboard, suggestions for people with more budget, and suggested other maindeck cards to use.

I've decided to cut these out of the requirements. You can do them if you want, but they're no longer necessary.

This one is a pretty straightforward Temur Midrange deck. Temur actually got some pretty sweet budget friendly midrange options in Sagu Mauler and Bear's Companion. We also run Snowhorn Rider as an extra morph (though it doesn't matter much for bluffing since both morph creatures are big scary tramplers) and an extra threat.
The plan of this deck is pretty simple, play big dudes, support them with spells. I'm not entirely sure Heir of the Wilds is good here, but I at least want to try it. Nessian Wilds Ravager is another card I want to try. It's either a really big monster or it's a removal spell.
I did consider running this deck in a more morph-heavy direction.Kheru Spellsnatcher is really tempting to play.
This deck is weird. It came about because of my desire to play with terrible cards like Kheru Dreadmaw and Sultai Flayer. Your plan here is to brick them with your big walls, until you can kill them somehow. You can gain an annoying amount of life off Flayer and Dreadmaw, and you have a lot of removal to deal with threats.
I wasn't actually going to make this deck until I noticed the lifegain synergized really well with Wall of Limbs. Each time you gain life, the wall gets bigger, and it could turn into a wincon on its own.
Another card I knew I wanted to incorporate into this deck was Wall of Mulch. Here, it has plenty of walls to mulch into cards, and the sacrifice synergizes well with flayer.
With all our sacrificing, I figured it would be safe to include some delve cards. Murderous Cut is the best of these, being very good removal that can come cheaply. you can delve for 4 Set Adrift is a way to deal with Planeswalkers and doubles as backup removal.
Archer's Parapet can poke our enemies, and is just another wall. Disdainful Stroke is here because I expect to see some monsters decks.
Probably our best wincon is Kheru Bloodsucker. We can make it big and scary if we wish, but it'll drain our opponents every time we sacrifice basically anything.
The largest problem I see with the deck right now is with Planeswalkers. It only has a few creatures that can even attack, so it has barely any way to deal with a 'walker. For non-budget players, I recommend Hero's Downfall in the mainboard and Despise in the sideboard.
I think Reaper of the Wilds probably has a place in this deck, as well.
TIMESTAMP: 10/3/14
It's a somewhat interesting idea but the only things in the deck even capable of winning is sacrificing a really big Wall of Limbs or hitting them with Sultai Flayer. There's a very good chance you won't even draw either of those before you lose, especially if they have anything flying.

The sultai one needs some read the bones. It digs you up to 4 cards deep and gives you more gas. I can also see playing it as gbw with return to the ranks and a mini self mill engine.

Hmm, read the bones was on my list. Do you think perhaps over Tiagam's Scheming?
By the way guys, maybe I didn't make it clear enough, but you guys can submit lists too.
I like permanents that cost one mana and can have a big impact on the game. See: Deathrite Shaman, Grim Lavamancer, Sensei's Divining Top, Root Maze, etc. When I saw Hardened Scales and Retribution of the Ancients, I knew I had to at least try to do something with them. Cruel Sadist is also a favorite of mine, and she happens to work well with the enchantments. So, here's a deck! For my more competitive version of the deck, I plan on fixing up the mana base to make the deck faster, but that won't work on the budget.
The deck's name is a pun based on Hardened Scales (i.e. balancing the scales).
For the purposes of this thread it might be a little too expensive but I bet you could get some interesting results in that deck replacing the black splash with blue for Sage of Hours.
If Abzan gets a lord that grants an Outlast anthem effect for creatures you control (for the casting cost of the creature you want to put it on), that mini-treats deck looks quite fun.
My first deck submission on these forums is a budget deck. I never have time to commit to standard long enough to justify blowing a large chunk of cash on a deck I will only play maybe twice.
The Main use of the deck is to use Commune with the Gods and Kruphix's Insight to fill up your graveyard to cheat out Hooting Mandrills or Nemesis of Mortals on turn 2 or 3. Paragon for a little boost and to help push damage through on the non-tramplers. Savage Punch for removal options. Ranger's Guile for anti-removal. Become Immense just in case you're stuck with the smaller creatures and have the full 'yard to Delve it out. I dunno if Boon Satyr's flash and bestow makes him any better for this deck than maybe Alpine Grizzly, but Boons are cheap and no reason not to since we are Mono-green.
Goldfishing and playtesting have confirmed that an early giant snake or monkey horde causes some panic, but I think the filler creatures need fine tuning.
Before you get to the deck, let me say this is not the kind of deck I used to play, so if the sideboard looks random, well, it's because it is.
That said, I'm considering building a deck like this, because it looks fun. Please fell free to tell me your opinions, give suggestions for improvements, or anything...
This is a deck around Ajani's Pridemate, with some life gain effects and the White outlast that give lifelink/flying/first strike to creatures with +1/+1 counters.
hi, i'm just new here and the decks here are pretty good. i love the hardened scales deck, thinking of inserting a hooded hydra there. i'm just returning bcak to playing magic after a decade of absence so I'm going to start out with one of the decks here and play on a standard tourney and see how it goes
@FuzzyDan: I can sort of understand why you didn't include Satyr Wayfinder. It's not really a creature for stompy. Still, I can't help but feel that it does a better job at what you want the deck to do than Swordwise Centaur, perhaps. I think I'd probably start by removing your Paragons. They're decidedly slow in your fast-ish deck. You'll have to do without Trample on your non-trample creatures, unless you want to try Temur Charger. I think giving your creatures trample isn't as important as the huge speed hit you take from running Paragon.
@yamp
I like the deck! If I had to make one criticism, it'd be simply wondering if you had considered High Sentinels of Arashin, and what reasons you have for not including it. I think the card is really good, especially when you can back it up with other ways to gain counters.

No, I didn't even look up the price.
I'm now surprised to see its low value on tcgplayer is as low as USD 0.20!
What would you remove for sentinels?
Instead of Kheru Dreadmaw, you can use Rotfeaster Maggot. It is not repeatable, but it is cheaper and can attack. plus its removal against sultai delve decks.
Just wanted to stop by and apologize to everyone for letting the old thread fall by the wayside. I've retired from standard to play budget modern and budget commander.
But fear not! I'm confident KatherineTsara will do an outstanding job maintaining this new home for budget standard players.
I plan to stop by with a build or two one of these days, but until then keep up the good work everyone!

would not recommend Delve cards if you are heavily using the graveyard as a resource, since it is very counter-productive. Any other generic black kill spell is better.
