So for those who don't know some of the theros cards.
So, Idk how you guys think of the Caryatid but so far he's our best replacment for farseek we have. We all know that every green midrange decks needs good ol' farseek.
I think the only changes I would make is put lifebane zombie in the side board and run xathrid necromancer over him, also I think I would do 4 putrefy instead of the 2 doomblade/2 putrefy split. Selesnya charm may be an option if the gods see constructed play which I'm sure they will and it works pretty well with abrupt decay. Other than that I really like the deck.

While I agree the meta could shift to where Lifebane is SB, but Xathrid Necromancer seems horrible. The 4 copies are the only cards that trigger it on your side. Seems really bad unless humans are a big thing.
Thoughtseize could range anywhere from 4 MB to none in your 75 depending on how things shape up.

Maybe... I may try 3 in the MB and 1 in SB. I also thought about the selensya charms as well. May fit 2-3 in there as well.
As for the 4 Putrefy in MB, I'd rather not. I don't like the idea of having 4 3cc kill spells. Maybe go up to three if need be but for now. I like how it is.
So maybe this would work...
-3 Lifebain Zombie (Move to SB)
-1 Gaze of Granite (Move to SB)
-1 Blood Baron (Maybe Move to SB?)
+3 Thoughtsieze (4th in the SB.)
+2 Selensya Charm

I like this and have been working on a more aggresive shell of this in GB
x blood baron
x Scooze
x Desecration Demon
x Loxodon Smiter
x Angel of serenity
x-x utility/draw
read the bones
the black god
underworld connections
4 Ramp cards
4 Sylvan Crayatid
These decks have a lot of play with their card slots and are extremely customizable.
My biggest thing is do we need to go GWB or can we just do GB. With the new duals always cipt it makes me wanna just go two colors. Also burning earth is certainly a card.
Going to proxy this deck today and play some solitaire with it. See if it curves out well. May even convince a friend to make his post rotation deck to test against it.

I wiill be making a junk control/midrange list this week and testing it.
the GB deck didnt really play out as well as it looked on paper. VoR and domri was a huge problem for the deck. And the control have the removal for your few guys and your removal game 1 is mostly dead
One guy i recommend trying though is Reaper of the Wild.
That guy is completely insane and he WILL see play.
Also i think gatekeeper vine may be better than the crayatid. He can grab a gate that you need incase you are color screwed.
Here's what I'm testing. So far I'm very impressed with Erebos. Thinking of adding more removal and staying away from Read the Bones MB unless we get a better source of life gain (this deck feels pretty suicidal vs aggro atm)

thought think you need sincollector/life bane zombie. I'd go one or ther other and SB the other.
I was playing the GB version of this. and waht I noticed
Reaper of the wild is a boss
Gaze of granite is the SICKNESS
Primeval Bounty is a planeswalker
Gatekeeper vine is pretty decent
Erebos isnt that good mainboard(I ran 2 read the bones/2 underworld connections). Paying 2 mana AND TWO!!! life for just ONE!! card. No thank you. He does seem fine for the board against sphinx decks though.
Scooze is amazing in this deck
Thoughtseize is a boss
Gonna take time to tweak the removal spells so you have the right ones.
Voice of resurrengence and planeswalkers are problems for the deck.
Desecration Demon is a boss, like expected
Mutavault is awesome.
Thats what I got out of a day of testing. Roughly about 20ish games.
So both myself and another guy (Gemini) have been championing this deck on mtgo (though hes the only one that has been doing well with it... :P). I think this would be a good base to start with, and then replace cards with M14/Theros cards:
I've been treating Erebos as more of a beater / brick wall with emergency draw power. He might wind up in the SB depending on the rest though.
(On a speculative note, I'm pulling for Whip of Erebos to read something like: 1BB All creatures you control have lifelink. B,Tap: Exile target creature card from a graveyard. Possibly more realistic: Whenever a creature dies, you gain 2 life.)
The obvious problem we have to face is that Burning Earth is extremely deadly. At the very least 4 Golgari Charm / Naturalize in the SB.
Most midrange decks have 14-17 creatures and more removal. Deadbridge chant seems out of place... I feel advents are more for aggro.... Not enough lands. Midrange needs 24-25.

Realized Nyx won't work in a 3 colored deck unfortunately. Also realize that Guildgates just right out suck. And that I don't think I want a playset of the scry duals.
-1 Nyx
-2 Golgari Guildgate
-1 Shrine of Silence
+2 Forest
+1 Swamp
+1 Plains

Reaper of The Wild seems just a bit better than the 4x Desecration Demon most of the lists here have right now- when you think about that it is just as hard to kill played on curve, and unlike Desecration Demon it can block efficiently, and if played late or it sticks for a turn it demands a wrath to remove it. The deathtouch and scry (which shouldn't be underestimated) are just icing.
I think Junk has potential because it has a lot of power house cards that don't have heavy color requirements, so the mana base can still work for 3 colors. The only double CC cards are black, and that extra commitment to black mana is important due to the color's otherwise inefficiency at dealing with planeswalkers (Hero's Downfall) and that you will often want to cast Thoughtseize and something else in the same turn. The selling point is having every creature in the deck be a one man army, capable of holding down the fort vs aggro and control due to their resilience and high power and toughness.
A notable omission from the deck is Obzedat, which because is to make the mana base capable of running him we would need a G/B cipt land in place of the W/B cipt land (with 4 Plains replacing 4 Forests) and I don't think that is worth losing the scry, but it could be depending on the format (if control takes off you have potentially 8 guys that demand a Wrath type sweeper to kill, and Obzedat demands instant speed removal- spreading them thin).
So here's the list.
4 Temple Garden
4 Godless Shrine
4 Overgrown Tomb
3 W/B Scry Land
4 Forest
3 Swamp
3 Plains
4 Sylvan Caryatid
3 Scavenging Ooze
3 Loxodon Smiter
3 Reaper of the Wilds
2 Blood Baron of Vizkopa
2 Archangel of Thune
2 Angel of Serenity
1 Hero's Downfall
3 Thoughtsieze
3 Abrupt Decay
2 Doom Blade
2 Devour Flesh
2 Gaze of Granite
3 Read the Bones
Sideboard:
2 Pithing Needle
3 Golgari Charm
2 Lifebane Zombie OR Sin Collector
2 Obzedat, Ghost Concil
1 Thoughtseize
2 Merciless Eviction
3 Centaur Healer
So for those who don't know some of the theros cards.

4 Slyvan Crayatid
4 Read the bones/Underworld Connections(thinking maybe a 2/2 split or just 4 RtB)
3 Doom Blade
4 Putrefy
4 Thoughtseize
I def think thougthseize should be a 4 of. That card is super powerful and can just ruin someones day.
I've like to run white because of smiter/AoS/blood baron.
And you always get sweet sideboard cards with that color combination.

1-4 abrupt decay

Take a mechanic from the pre-mirrodin era, and a mechanic after the mirrodin era, and create a card that flavorfully melds both mechanics.

Pros of Smiter
Un-counterable

3 for 4/4
Can be free if discarded
Pros of Reaper
More of a pain for Control
Pretty unkillable
Awesome passive ability
Can block profitably
