I see that coming up every now and then that someone talks like all the existing color pairs will remain in standard when Theros hits but I think running three colors will get you killed in Theros standard.
My reasons are:
1) Burning Earth: Well I think I dont have to say much about it. Run a deck with no basics and you might as well concede the game.
2) Theros has a mono colored theme which is especially interesting because Devotion. There could be really powerful cards with devotion that are worth running. The gods come to mind as an example.
3) Existing decks lose much of their key cards like Jund as example(thank god) which makes it questionable splashing and exposing yourself to burning earth and mana inconsistencies.
Of course we dont now what dual lands we will get in Theros but I will expect not that amount of mana fixing we have right now. And there were still times were you could get mana screwed and lose because of it even with all the fixing.
So what are your opinions on it? Do you think 3 color will remain viable or will mono/dual color will be the way to go because of consistency?
I think Burning Earth is sort of it's own downfall. As people have played (with/against) it, mana bases are starting to contain more basics to counteract it, thus negating it's effectiveness.
I think 3+ color decks will see a drastic drop-off post rotation while mono and 2 color decks will become more par the course. It's an interesting conundrum: RTR says "Play multi color decks!" while Theros says "Play mono color decks!".
I think 3 color is still fine. Burning Earth isnt the end of all, since you add in a few basics or run life gain and its easy to get around. Plus not everybody will be playing this card, the meta will be mostly control. It depends on what duals Theros offers and what 3 color types of decks are out there, but even still control decks like Esper, Grixis and UWR will be solid regardless.
The red decks have always been annoying and post rotation the side board will be just as important in beating them. Red Aggro will be a lot slower to deal with since they lose all their haste creatures, so a Burning Earth will not be ending games as easily as it can now. Plus if you can resolve any life linker then it becomes a non-issue providing you stabilized already.

Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici.
I thibk 3 colour decks will drop off and 2 colour control decks will become the top tier resulting in obzedat, baron and aetherling rising in price

And if there is a deck aggressive enough to cast burning earth and willing to pay 4 mana for it. A
