I haven't gotten a chance to test this build yet I'm actually going to make a few proxies for it and test it against my MGD which hasn't lost a match yet so. but If anyone has cockatrice or MTGO and could help test it for me, That would be great please and thanks.
I wonder if anyone has had success with an American build? I have the land base minus steamvents.
Something like
Phalanx Leader
Favoured Hoplite
Hidden Strings
Gift of Orzhova
Hidden Strings
Boros Charm
Gods Willing
As far as the core goes. That is a pretty full deck so maybe just Boros charm in the board for control and red decks running anger. However you could sneak in a few steam augury for draw power. Would be fun.
The top deck on my LGS would be mono U devotion followed by esper control. other decks I saw were izzet control, Boros aggro, gruul midrange, boros heroics.
Top color to beat Mono U would be green. Green has pro-blue, can't be counter in the form of
Skylasher
Mistcutter Hydra
Use leader to make skylashers and hyrda bigger. Win.
I've been testing this for past few hours, and I think I'm in love. THE PLAYS THIS DECK CAN PULL ARE AMAZING!
Both Hoplites, Fabled Hero and Phalanx Leader are the absolute core. Fortune Hunter is pretty damn good too, with multiples especially, along with all the scrying, you get insane card advantage.
Azorius Charm is too good not to play 4. Awesome combat trick, gains tons of life, and at worst, cycles away. Detention Sphere gets rid of random Planeswalkers or whatever, since the deck has no problem with creatures. Only 3 Tactics since while it's OP as hell and my favorite card ever, it's dead vs noncreature decks.
Last best thing about this deck?
CHEAP AS HELL <3
Hey dude, did you ever try this deck out at FNM or just play test at home, etc.? I will be taking something similar to FNM tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes. With all the opponents' removal, I'm leaning towards blue (instead of red) to keep my creatures on the field.
I went 2-1 last night, losing to an Orzhov Humans deck. Would have done better if I had any of my Mizzium Skins or God's Willing.
Just about everything triggers Heroic. Putting an Eidolon on the Fable Hero can net you some crazy life gain. Adding an Aqueous form guarantees you 10 damage and life. Holding mana open for either of those spells to help protect the one creature is ideal. If you can get a hidden strings going you can pump up two creatures, making it harder for them to deal with.
The D-Spheres are there mainly as filler, but they do have some uses in getting rid of Planeswalkers, the gods or any creature that is bigger than one you have.
Rapid hybridization - spot removal (removal might not be the best word here) for blood baron, stormbreath dragon, desicration demon, boros reconer, etc.
Glare of heresy - maybe the deck does not need this because of rapid hybridization, but it would be used on similar stuff for spot removal
swift justice - heroic trigger, lifegane, sneaky first-strike
Azorious and sphere - more control
My FNM store runs a lot of removal. The game plan is to drop about 2 creatures, wait for the removal, play protection, and then trigger heroic. Between Triton Tactics and Hidden Strings, hopefully, dealing damage will not be a problem. Also, the protection spells can be used to deal damage in a pinch.
Pros:
-Big creatures fast
-Low cost, awesome protection spells
-Sneaky (triton tactics, hidden strings, other spells)
-Almost all spells trigger heroic mechanic
Cons:
-A little slow from the higher mana curve as most creatures costing 2 or 3 to put down (compared to white weenie aggro)
-Will only have 2-3 creatures out (at least 2 incase of sacrifice card...), possible aggro overrun?
-Screwed if it runs out of protection spells?
Do you guys think this is ok? Have any constructive criticism? Thanks!
I'm thinking about the new set and while I have experience with white weenies, I don't with a heroic deck. I'm trying to get as many creatures in as possible to minimise bad hands, how does this look?
Akroan Skyguard is outclassed by Vanguard of Brimaz. Nyxborn Shieldmate is probably best off being Ethereal Armor; the 1/2 that falls off when your Bestow creature dies isn't really a card, and +1/2 + heroic trigger isn't worth 3 Mana. It can be cheapened by Hero of Iroas, but still has the issue that the body that falls off is so weak.
Ethereal Armor is my suggested replacement, you can board it out against removal.deck (Brave the Elements in the side) but given that you have 12 Enchantments and a bunch of Heroic creatures the upside is huge.
I would run 2 Dauntless/1 Ajani, Caller of the Pride (or 1 Spear of Heliod) for the last 3 slots.
chrisb, I think you need more ways to trigger heroic. Bestow is an expensive mechanic and only targets one thing one time, so it's rough to rely on that. I think a heroic deck probably needs at least 12 heroic enabling effects to make their creatures better than non-heroic ones.
God's Willing and Mizzium Skin are both awesome for this, acting as protection as well as triggers.
This is the WU deck that I am toying around with at the moment. It is based off of the WU decklist in the first post of this thread, but I have taken out some cards and added my own. I have already looked at some of the Born of the Gods cards, and I'm thinking of replacing Favored Hoplite with Akroan Skyguard. Other than that, I'm not sure of any other ways I can improve my deck (I'm fairly new to deck building).
Aoi, now that the all cards of Borns of the Gods are revealed, what are your top cards for W/X builds?
Heheh I must say some of the cards out there excite me a lot, I guess new builds can me done with what we will get.
WHITE
Personally, Nyxborn Shieldmate and Hero of Iroas are really interesting ones, encouraging both weenie and aura tactics. Acolyte's Reward has a special mention to be a good sideboard option against burn or midrange. Eidolon of Countless Battles would find a home in mono-white or auras decks, it is powerful indeed while you still have a presence on board. Revoke Existence is an amazing sideboard tool, it can disrupt many strategies, mainly black devotion, something we heavily needed.
BLUE
Fated Infatruation could be work somehow, although it is really blue-mana extensive. It can copy one of your creatures with a decent amount of +1/+1 counters and use it to instant block, and attack the next turn with it, which is awesome, but doesn't allow you to play things such as Mutavault. Meletis Astronomer could be viable in some build, but I'm not bought into it yet, since blue doesn't work with auras as well as other colors do. Retraction Helix works excellent with Hidden Strings, allowing that single spell to both enable heroic and return two permanents to the hand (one before strings and one after it. Stratus Walk is interesting to gain evasion and replaces itself.
BLACK
Ashiok's Adept seems really good against control, you can sideboard your Agent of the Fates with this, I just don't like its one power, it needed more than thatm but well. Herald of Torment is the greatest addition to black, it has a relatively reasonable bestow, it plays great with Ethereal Armor, and is another nice 3 drop in case you don't need Fiendslayer Paladin, I dare to say this one is better than Nighthowler. Necrobite can see some play too, it has two relevant abilities on it and can help to kill those big fatties without losing yours in case you need to chump block or anything. Also Pain Seer seems great for aura builds, because you can easily enchant it, attack and then keep drawing cards.
RED
Fall of the Hammer is excellent, better than Pit Fight, something red needed to not lose their weak creatures in the process. Nyxborn Rollicker is incredibly cheap and useful. Oracle of Bones seems like an awesome finisher, either with the tribute or playing an instant from our hand (mostly heroic enablers), it will be crushing well, really like this guy a lot. Thunderous Might is the new addition to the build, if you play enough red permanents of course.
GREEN
Hero of Leina Tower can be tricky, the fact that it asks more mana to pump out means it isn't made for aggro strategies, but midrange ones. Mana ramping works well with her, but is not necessary, only use the excess of mana on her to deal some sudden heavy strikes, making the opponent sort of obligated to block her, which gives us a lot of advantage at deciding how much to pump her, this card could make another new heroic playstyle that I'm really interested to test around. Setessan Oathsworn is a reasonable creature, which can be pumped up really easy enough to deal severe damage, something that green was missing. Hunter's Prowess seems like the best draw engine green has access to now, and it works on heroic too, but again, for midrange or ramping builds. And Mortal's Resolve comes in the resilance package green already had. With this, green is right now the color you must play if you want to pump up a single creature and protect it from almost everything at the same time.
Those are the cards that interested me the most, but there are still many unexplored cards with combinations which may be worth to take a look.

I'd replace Artisan of Forms with Hero of Iroas instead. Since you have a heavy auras build, that guy is really awesome for the job. Indestructibility isn't a good card at all, is a trap indeed, since they can either exile your creature, make you sacrifice or bounce it, better protect it with Gods Willing.
Ephara's Enlightenment is another card you may heavily consider instead of some ordeals. It has a great effect and can be reusable in case you need to a great adition for azorius heroics.

I definitely agree with what you said about Ephara's Enlightenment, I was considering it when I was first putting the deck together, but I decided to keep Ordeal of Thassa in. I think I'm going to replace it with Ephara's Enlightenment. The way you can use Ephara's Enlightenment to spread 1/1 counters around to your creatures seems way more useful to me than drawing two cards. I also think that I may sideboard Indestructibility and replace it with God's Willing (I'm still going to put in God's Willing regardless, but Indestructibility is most likely what I'm going to replace it with).
Precinct Captain vs Phalanx
Precinct on his own can be an effective wall and attacker, and will feed into EoCB, while Phalanx needs to have support and a fuller board to get use of it. I still believe PL to be a T3 or T4 drop, and he seems more effective in instant decks rather than enchantment decks.
Hopeful Eidolon vs Nyxborn Shieldmate
Hopeful Eidolon can be amazing either enchanted or as an enchantment. It has the same synergy with EoCB and Etheral Armor as Shieldmate does, but it pairs better with Etheral Armor on T2 due to Lifelink. To cast it as an aura is more expensive than Shieldmate, Gift of Orzhova or EoCB, but having another mode of Lifelink isn't something to scoff at.
Gift of Orhova vs Ajani, Caller of the Pride
Hero of Iroas, to me, is one of the best Heroic cards in the set. 1W is much better than the WW of Precinct Captain or Phalanx Leader, and it reducing the cost of Auras by 1C is amazing... and because of this I'd like to play Gift of Orzhova or Ajani. True, Ajani is more of a finisher/bomb, but GoO can be played on T3 with mana saved for Gods Willing/Brave the Elements (or Mizzium Skin for /u) if you've HoI in play.
Eidolon of Countless Battles
I love this card in almost every aspect. Art, theme, effect, and cost... but I feel this may be my "Anax and Cymede", where the idea of it may be better than the execution.
Misc Comments/Questions:What are your opinions on Akroan Skyguard in W/r Auras and Instants? I couldn't let Precinct Captain go.
I think Auras stand a better chance against Bile Blight and Drown in Sorrow, but as usual, Remove and 2-for-1 effects are our downfall. I'm having trouble deciding which protection spells to MB, even if they're not Heroic triggers.
I beat B/G, R/G and lost 2-1 to mono-black. In general, the Soldiers were ok. They put lots of early pressure but they don't combo out. I think Daxos is going out for 3 Fabled Hero. Separately, the Hopeful Eidolon may get swapped with Gift of Orzhova. However, the creature count drops dangerously low. I'm still on the bubble about that. Hidden Strings is definitely the all-star in the deck.
we play tested it last night and it ripped through my mono green devotion a Rakdos minotaur control I don't no how but it did. so we're just looking for a little more in put.
It surprises me that none posted this yet. 5th place at MaxPointPlatinum, if that means something for you. Surprisingly, it doesn't have any Gods Willing on the deck.
I built a Wu Heroic for a friend and we both loved it. Now I'm working on a W/r for myself and have decided not to run Akroan Crusader because I don't have the right enablers to get real value from him like hidden strings. So with no hidden strings and more Burst enabling I was thinking of making up for that by using Battalion in it. Boros Elite and Firefist Striker to be exact. What do you guys think?
I'm actually building a mono white heroic deck for Born of the Gods and I'm gonna take it to the opening FNM. It's going to focus more on using enchantments to power up creatures. For one, Hero of Iroas reduces the casting cost of bestow so it improves Nyxborn Shieldmate and Chosen by Heliod. The other synergy is with Etheral Armor and Nyxborn Shieldmate, seeing as how the shieldmate counts as an enchantment you can get +2/+2 just by sticking it on the shieldmate. I've yet to set up the sideboard but I think this deck has potential.
I found that you usually want to play some more creatures than Heroic enablers, simply because having creature cards in your hand with no Heroic enablers isn't great, but having Heroic enablers in your hand with no creatures to enhance is much worse (obviously).
I'm not talking about the opening hand here, either, I'm talking about being a few turns in the game, having your early creatures die to removal and then only redraw Heroic enablers and no creatures.
I've lost quite a few games this way.
For me personally, I found that 24 creatures and 16 enablers worked best, but I only played a G/W version and a G/R version, (obviously) didn't have access to the BNG cards and a lot depends on personal playstyle/preference and - of course - the (expected) meta.
You're right, it's a problem I've had before, and I got around by playing more defensively: Swapping Chained's for Brave's, keeping Mana open and an extra creature on the field for Devour Flesh. I want to change that but find it hard to let any of my triggers go, but I may be able to take a land or two out...
-2 Chained to the Rocks
+2 Nyxborn Shieldmates (Or other useful creature)
-2 Temple of Triumph
+2 Mutavaults
-1 Plains
+1 Mountain
I'm in favor of turning two of the Temples into basic lands or creatures, but am unsure of how Mutavaults will play out. I certainly hate playing against them, but I'm unsure how they'll fit into this deck.
