I got bored and started looking around at things and wondering what i should consider playing. I saw the interaction of Whip and the Council which i thought was cute until i realized something Auramancer is standard legal...
so I made a deck with an abundance of enchantments and creatures.
Hopeful E dropped turn one followed by Ethereal armor on it turn two is a 3/3 lifelink firststrike creature. 4/4 if you drop another Hopeful E.
auramancer has 20 potential targets in the graveyard. WoE has 20 potential targets in the graveyard. mancer can pull a whip back out, whip can pull a mancer back out with another enchantment or enchanment creature in tow.
Both Eidolons can enchant late game if needed or play early with ethereal for fast damage.
The Baron is the only card I am unsure about as it gets no interaction from this deck other than it gaining an over abundance of life easily.
I wanted to fit Ashen Rider but i could not figure out how to abuse it.
there is alot of synergy in this deck and it just screams life gain life drain.
The deck felt like something was missing so ive been tweeking it off and on alot. even went esper for about an hour and it felt better but the mana constraints made it hard to get this deck to do what it wants. Also felt that having three Whip of Erebos was pretty overkill and with auramancer i could get it back later if needed anyway so i went down to 2.
The only card I would consider adding for sure would be Thoughtsieze. I would definately add this some where if not in the side board so I can have a chance to get rid of problem cards before they are played. Also would need a few of the new kill creature/planeswalker card for the sideboard as well.
Fiendslayer Paladin has been lack luster without something like Rancor to push above and beyond but with this deck i can see Ethereal Armor easily making him an all star.
example: turn three paladin, turn four i can place a potential 3 enchantments out including an ethereal armor on paladin and he is now swinging as a 5/5.
its a work in progress so stay tuned for updates as things happen.
Actually, I would add another Obzedat because of it's energy with the whip. One in play and one in the grave is going to make your opponent lose at 4 life and you gain at least 4 life per turn.
I don't think the whip works the way you think it does.
You use Whip of Erebos to bring Obzedat, Ghost Council back. At end of turn, two triggers go on the stack: one from the council to let you exile it and then bring it back later, the other from the whip to force you to exile it for good.
If you stack the whip trigger, then put the council trigger on top, you'd think that the council's ability would dodge the drawback of the whip. But the whip ability has a second part: "If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else."
I'm pretty sure that means that instead of getting an 'exile then come back later' effect, the replacement effect makes it just an 'exile' effect.

Wow, I never thought of it like that. Once Ghost Daddy blinks out from the Whip effect, it's no longer bounded by its effect. It creates a big loop every turn.
this deck is going to get blow out by removal. i like it, though adding some Boon Of Erebos really would improve it, your guy punches for more life and removal won't work. Also, the 6 5-drops might be a little too big of a curve. Lifebane Zombie, Sin Collector and Desecration Demon are great cards that can wear the pants in a pinch. With 3 whips I'm not sure if you would need Gift Of Orzhova that badly, though it gives your guys evasion. Gods Wiling is another card to consider against removal or just to force damage through.
As far as dragons are concerned, doesn't Niv Mizzet semi-regularly make idiotic clone dragons so the people of Ravnica can see how amazing he is in comparison?
The core of this deck is the interaction between Auramancer and the enchantments with Whip of Erebos as another way to pull things out again. Obzedat is extra synergy and is a potential finisher. Baron is another finisher. The biggest weakness for this deck is graveyard hate. Rest in Peace and Scavenging Ooze make it hard for this deck to keep its synergy going.
Thoughtsieze would greatly help in that regard. Sin Collector is ok but I consider it more of a sideboard card until i know what the local meta is going to be. That is also why my removal is so varied.
Lifebane Zombie is a conditional card and doesn't actually help this deck do its thing. Desecration Demon is a great alternate finisher but I feel that it does litte being whipped back into play thanks to the becoming tapped at the beginning of combat. Gods Willing is definately a card I have been looking finding a place for. Glare of Heresy gets rid of RiP. Boon of Erebos wouldnt be a bad addition other than gods willing.
Other than splashing in another color like green this is as far as I got. Lotleth Troll and Grisely Salvage to help speed up the graveyard seems like a possibility as well.
